My thought on 10:30 is that while the Honda did mess up going into that corner, the BMW was well aware of that and was capitalizing on that to make the pass. It's up to the BMW to make the pass safely, and they easily have it. The Honda realized they messed up and gave the BMW plenty of room, and the BMW just ignored the Honda and slammed down into the apex like they weren't there. IMHO this is 100% on the BMW. Sometimes you just miss your line, and that's what we're always hoping for other people to do when we're chasing, so we can make a pass, but it's still on us to make that pass safely.
@SimHulk1872 жыл бұрын
I agree completely, this was exactly what I thought when I saw it. The BMW was not clear ahead and so was not entitle to the racing line, and as Jimmy himself said "it's pointed right at the apex"

When I first started sim racing on PC, I joined a GT3 league on PC2. They were really big on giving positions back if you gained it due to contact or forcing someone off. Basically, if it wasn't a clean pass, you were expected to give it back. That led to some of the best racing I've ever participated in. Drivers used more strategy. They picked their battles carefully, and oddly enough, since most moves were clean and smart, people seemed to not get as butthurt about being overtaken. I'd love to see sims promote that sort of gentleman's agreement more.

4:30 you can only try to block someone if they are clearly behind you. in this case, he's already beside you and you are literally swerving into him so I'd say you can't push the person off the track. If not, then the person behind can try to push the other way and the car in front will spin and crash.

For the crash at 7:45, that would definitely be on the 7 and your assessment is correct, Jimmy. It appears the 7 was attempting to move to the bottom to try and overtake the car in front of it (track appears to be Lanier or South Boston, so a very small oval), but didn't appear to consider the cars on the inside coming off the corner.

2nd incident: actually, in almost every simracing community, reactive moves are NOT allowed. yes you can squeeze him, but only after he is besides you. and if he just doesnt react to your squeeze, the contact is on you. It is like that in LFM and every AC racing community I was in, and I am pretty sure it also not allowed in iracing and british gt irl. Reactive moves/blocking is concidered dangerous driving and can lead to multiple day bans in LFM and license suspension irl

As an oval racing enjoy at 8:00 the 7 car was setting himself up for a pass in 1 and 2 you can change lanes in the corner because contact is perfectly fine the 7 turned way left and was coming down and the 5 came up it’s they 7’s fault but it would be considered a racing incident that could have been avoided

The SS race with the 7 car was a racing incident, look at the yaw in the 7 car he got loose on exit and was just chasing it... the 7 ran out of talent and owes an apology but it wasn't a decision to move down IMO

8:04 - 7 is at fault, btw you can actually be a little less predictable on oval racing than F1 or that sort of thing, more room to manuever on the track unless the guy next to you sticks you to the bottom mid corner, then you have to change your angle of attack for the exit.. and.. yadda yadda yadda tl;dr you can be a little less predictable without error on ovals than F1 and stuff

@@julianhaarstad2535 No, that is the line to track out to the wall. Imagine a hairpin on a regular track. Out as far as you can for best turn in, hit the apex, then drive out of the corner using as much track as possible for best drive off. Same principle is used at short ovals. You can see the 4 doing that a little bit. Oval racing is all about momentum.

7:46 It looks like the Number 7 is getting loose coming off the exit of turn 4 right when Number 5 comes and hits him. I still think it's 7's fault, because he should be on top of the car and aware that it's about to get loose on corner exit. But if I were to guess, the Number 7 was watching either the 4 or the 5 and not paying attention, leading them to be slow to react to their car veering left, right as the Number 5 enters the picture.

Something i noticed people need to practice in general, they really need to work on catching their car after contact. accidents and little bumps happen, it’s always a little ridiculous when someone #1 drives really aggressive and come into your line #2 makes slight contact with you, cars balance is upset #3 big crash and get pissy with you like we want to have fun so aggressive driving isn’t all bad, yeah we’ll have contact, but it feels like people are so dead set on hitting the apex they won’t steer their car or let off the gas even when they are about to get flipped around oh same story if someone brakes early, gets bumped, and just has no plan for getting their car under control

For the oval clip my opinion is that it is on the 7 but at the same time we have to remember that these are rookies who tend to be deathly afraid of the wall, so leaving extra room to the guy up top is just a generally better practice all around for rookies. Even with that though the 7 is very far down that track but it’s something that comes with experience
