Utility is amazing and makes me want an electric van. Wish range were better and that there were more buttons less screens.

The door handles and buttons to open the gear locker and tail gate. I don't see those working very well in any place that has a winter. The tonneau cover will be the same I believe, can see that breaking in the winter or being non functional.

Jimmy. Great video. You may be interested in a hitch step if you are regularly getting items out of the bed. Weathertech makes one for around $50 but many options on the market.

Big, poor front-end visibility, dangerous for pedestrians/bicyclists, heavy (plenty of non-ICE particulate emissions) and polluting, not an electric cargo bike. :-)

Had mine one week now it's an amazing and versatile family camper and off-road vehicle. For driving around town it's too big and rides like a truck since it is one. Biggest downside to me is lack of adjustability in Regen braking. The Kia ev6 I just test drove was so much more drivable in the city with its paddle lever region adjustment at your fingertips and more comfortable ride so just get the right vehicle for what you need.

Regarding the phone the controls: The are on the far right of the screen so the passenger can interact with the car. The driver has control of the phone/radio/etc. actions from the buttons on your steering wheel. You don't need to reach across your screen to hit the phone buttons, your controls are on the wheel.

For your tonneau cover not retracting all the way, mine doesn’t close all the way on occasion. You can reset the tonneau by pressing the button three times quickly, then hold it down - it will run thru a reset process of opening and closing it - so far, it fixed my issue - but only temporarily. (There should be a video of how to reset it also on KZbin). Great video, and I hope you’re loving yours as much as I love mine!

As a motorcycle rider (one that looks quick and is) I have noticed over the years that there is a new breed of drag racers on our roads, people in electric vehicles. You have finally experienced that exhilaration of acceleration, but don't be fooled, I can still kick your butt on take-off and no one that owns an electric vehicle can take a corner at speed.

They need folding running boards that come out and in for sure.

Nice review! I had the opportunity to ride in one this weekend (Houston TX to Austin TX), and I must say this is an awesome vehicle. Some items that could be improved; air vents control - why would these be on a touch screen? I found them rather "irritating". The Tonneau Cover sounded like it was going to break any minute, also the charging port opening seems to be over engineered (lots of potential failure modes). The wireless phone charging pad could also use some upgrades to "contain" the phones in the charging spots, our phones were moving all over the place. Compatibility with AA or ACP (or at least Waze) would be nice.

Having more variety in the regen would be nice, but I don't think it's a deal breaker. It's something to get used to and once you do its better than having no regen in every single way. This just 'forces' the new users to learn it. My wife hated regen braking on our first EV for all of a month before she got used to it. Now it's natural to her. If she had the option to permanently shut it off, I'm sure she still wouldn't use it.

I'm holding out for the Atlis XT. It's a full size truck and can handle big truck stuff better than Rivian. Plus the charging specs are far better than any EV available now.

@@steveneverling1179 Oh, I've been off the fence for about 3 years now, having made the "giant leap" to EVs and never regretting it. My questions pertain specifically to the Rivian - I like its looks and the 4X4 and all the space and features, and the Rivian jumping from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds makes me jealous (my current EV makes it in 6.5 sec). That's why I'm curious about the truck.

Great video. Thank you for the pros and cons. It's between the R1T or Lightning for me. Your videos really help a lot!!! I love everything about Rivian besides the fact that they don't have dealerships I can take my vehicle to get fixed or looked at. Super scared if something goes wrong with the R1T, I will be out of the vehicle until the repair is completed. With Ford, I can drive to a dealership and get a loaner. Sure Rivain will get better and better with time. Thanks again for the videos!

Everybody in the EV space needs to know about iron nitride magnets for better electric motors smaller lighter motors without losing torc and speed they do not use rare earth metals that are expensive and have huge environmental impacts please spread the word these magnets need to get into the supply chain for anyone making EVs. Niron Magnetics is bringing them to market this year

Hey Jimmy ! Try spraying your bed cover tracks,wheels and entry/exit enclosures with a silicone lubricant and cycle it a couple times to work it in !! Hope this helps !!

Good point. At this size, it fits perfectly in my garage and I need the cabin dose for my family, so I’m not sure if a 6ft bed would fit in my garage. So far, it’s my adventure machine that fits perfectly into my life.

Interesting that i came across this comment. Ive had the rivian r1t since May. Initially i was very impressed with the valve chuck and i love the locking feature. However mine has since started to split and separate at the joint down the middle. Do you know where i could order another?

Took it camping and off roading Labor day weekend. It was awesome! I use it to pick up packages/scooters/ebikes/etc for the channel on a weekly basis. Speed of a sports car. Utility of a truck. Adventure capable of an off road beast.

Nice review and great looking truck…and quick, but think it is pricey for range of only 300 miles. Also, first year models typically have bugs that need to be worked out. Follow up models should have longer range.

2nd days I got the truck at 4 ways stop ✋️ after I completed stop started to drive to my right suddenly steering firmly pulled me out to hit the curbside. Mobile Service Rivian came to my house replaced that one tire. Got the bill but still working on it waiting to respond back from corporate support? Do I need to pay for it or not? When this happened to me I kind of scary to drive the truck with surrounding or trafficking? Always watch out and very carefully for feeling not to trusting the truck for now but good those always safety first a good things from humans support but when car take control what can you do?
