I've got a Samsung A50, and using the Samsung messages app, the RCS is available with this app also, again only with others that are using RCS. When I had a Google phone, religiously used Android messages, but love the Samsung version so much more. Great video, and I always enjoy them.

Nothing beats "scheduling messages " on the Samsung messages. That feature is the best auto reply feature, especially if you forget or dont want to talk at the moment. Samsung makes, the world takes

I have RCS messaging enabled in samsung messages but your carrier has to support it, the last update I got to my phone included the feature and it functions. Just need to enable it under chat settings and hope your carrier updates at some point.

You left out one really cool feature of Samsung messages. You can get a text message triggered by your location which is great for remembering to pick something up at the store. LOL

I have the Android msg and you can search for pictures and old text in a conversation. You just have to go into a conversation and hit the magnifying glass.. It'll list every picture, every video, and also every link sent to that person.. I'm surprised you didn't go into that.

You can see all of the photos shared in a conversation in Android messages also. Go into the conversation and then tap the search button.

Needs to be higher. Also, the annoying pop-up every time you try and send a group message on Samsung Messages, warning you about data usage. Also, Android has predictive quick responses as well. Not a very thorough comparison.

The problem with Samsung messages is the image/video quality whenever you're trying to send or receive anything it's horrendous. I just wish Android can stop going with this old school SMS/MMS based messaging service. I love my note 9 but if there's any reason why I'd ever go back to iphone it's because iMessage is just so much easier to use and I never have to even think about small stuff like image quality

That's the whole point of Android messages RCS chat services they talked about in this video. RCS lets you send high quality image/video over wifi. But both sender and recipient have to use Android messages to get the benefit. Maybe in the future Google will let 3rd party messaging apps integrate with RCS chat services.

Great video and informative. One minor point on starred msgs vs reminders: if you didn't know you'd need reminding, then stands to reason you probably wouldn't know you needed starring the msg either. The clear strength of starring is the perpetual importance of a starred msg compared to a point in time of a reminder.

Samsung messages is far better for the following reasons: 1) delayed texts! This is a HUGE ommission by Google. 2) pinned conversations. Super convenient. 3) ability to send texts directly to Samsung Reminders. The reminder options in Android Messages are very limited compared to Samsung. 4) ability to star messages. 5) ability to select and copy specific text within a text reply instead of simply copying the entire text reply.

I agree with D- Sean, nothing beats scheduling messages! I use this all the time, as I get home from work at midnight, and everyone is sleeping. It also works great for reminders. I would also not go without being able to pin contacts to the top!! The only feature I miss, is the ability to back my messages up to my Google account with everything else. But a sacrifice I'm willing to make, with all the other features Samsung Messages has to offer vs. Android. And I couldn't care less about RCS!!

Thanks to the video and comments, I now know that Samsung messages have rcs features and that it's available now! Literally makes the other option pointless. I also love how Samsung logs your blocked messages such an awesome feature being able to block an annoying ex an watch them talk to themselves without your notifications going crazy.

Android messages has the Search tab in conversations which has all the shared content from photos, videos, gifs and links. I also find the Google Assistant Suggestions in chat way more useful than the quick response in Samsung message.

A few things missing / incorrect about Android Messages: Universal Search - You can easily view all previously shared images, files, links and more by clicking the search icon in any conversation. Assistant - the assistant will suggest smart replies, help you copy 2FA codes and give you contextual suggestions based on information shared back and forth (eg: movie title brings up ability to view trailer, see movie times at a theatre in a mutually convenient location, ability to book tickets directly, etc... // similar abilities with addresses, calendar appointments, restaurants, business names, etc....) iMessage Compatibility (Limited) - some conversations with iPhone contacts now show typing indicators, or if a message was liked by the recipient.

Thanks for the video, wish I had this when I was deciding. I went with Android messages because of the web messaging feature, which I think you barely mentioned. If you work on your computer, this feature is so important because you can text right from any web browser. Beats scheduled messages any day of the week for me.

Samsung has been working closely with Google on RCS, and Samsung Messages does use RCS. We've had RCS for a while now in Canada ... I have it on on Freedom Mobile using Samsung Messages. And I do appreciate the added features offered by Samsung, including message back-up in case I wipe my phone.

The number one feature that keeps on having me come back to Android messages is the web messages interface automatically built-in without having to use a 3rd party app.

Yep, the Messages for web feature is great. Allows using a computer as a terminal to the phone's messaging system over WiFi or cell network. I seldom use messaging on the phone when not out, because of the puny virtual keyboards on phones. Not a fan of mobile computing unless you have to.

[Edit] I had an update last night & my Samsung chat features in msgs was updated & now there's a new setup much like the "android/google version" (that you mention at 6:00 - 6:35 ). It's basically the same now on Samsung msgs. Samsung msgs has "chat" features. The person you're talking to needs to have it toggled on as well, but that's so far the only drawback (if they don't have it setup on their phone). I can see a chat bubble when they're texting, I can see "delivered" "read" next to their msgs & you can send bigger higher quality images/videos. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Idk I love samsung msgs & its other features (scheduled msgs, etc)

I recently downloaded Android Messages because I was having "issues" with group chat on Samsung messages.....now, just since last night, Android messages is not cooperating with me and my group chat. To be honest, I could've messed with my settings (don't think so)......anyway....now when I do a group chat, it just says "sending" and it never sends.....when I turn off and on wifi, it finally sends, but it is not sent in a group chat as it used to be a few days ago....also, when someone responds it says "new MMS message to download ". When I tap on the message it never downloads....help!!!!! Please and thank you

Samsung messages was my default... Tried Android messages but it didn't have scheduled messages. Than I came across PULSE SMS, it's quick, offers all the options and the most unique feature was to be able to respond from my device. You just install Pulses sms on your mac, pc, tablet etc and your set. Love that app. I would use android messages but it's missing scheduled messages it's a must and is the main reason i can't use android messages.

Helpful video!! Do you know any messaging app that is able to filter messages by certain words (or few words)? Most of apps offer blocking all messages from entire sender. Sometimes it's great to block only some texts while keep receiving rest messages.

I use Samsung messages. I haven't used Android messages. I normally just use the stock messaging app whether its LG, Samsung, Motorola, or Oneplus. I love the ability to schedule messages. I'm not much of an emoji person, nor do I chat. I just really talk to one or two people on an everyday basis. Plus when I'm driving I can just send a voice memo from the Samsung messages, which is super helpful.

Good video explaining differences. But, you missed the primary reason I use Android Messages - suggested replies on the screen in a message thread. Quick, intuitive and a big time saver. Samsung does not offer that quick convenience.

Me too! Always switching between those 3, although I do favor Textra. I have chat options enabled for both Samsung and Google messages in their settings but chat doesn't work for me in Samsung, and as far as Google messages goes, no one I text uses it except one person, so the chat function only works with them.

I just changed from IPhone to Android. I do miss imessages but I'm trying out Android messages. Is there a way to change the outgoing message notification. It's barely audible and needs something more (just for verification of being sent). I know you can change the incoming but what about the out going. I'm using Samsung Galaxy A50

Good day. I have a tech question for you. When I use the samsung message app, after I type the text message to this one particular contact I hit send. After I hit send, I get an audio sound after I hit send to this one particular contact. All the other contacts I send text messages to I do not get an audio sound after I hit send. I have samsung message set up to show the visual message, "delivered." I do not want to hear an audio sound after I hit send. Can you help me correct this annoying situation? By the way. When I use the dedault android message app I do not have this problem, only with the samsung message app when I send text messages to this one particular contact. Thank you.

Calls and Texts on other devices (aka Call & Message Continuity) is only compatible with Samsung Messages. Of course you need a Samsung phone and tablet, but it's pretty nice for people that have it. Also, I believe the Note 10 on Sprint also has RCS enabled in Samsung Messages...

The one feature I wish android message would adopt from Samsung messages is to change the font size with pinch to zoom out!! That feature is awesome for those with lower vision!!

Yep. I agree. The issue arises when people don't give due to where these features were copied from. A lot of features in the so called stock android were copied straight out of samsung,s ONE UI. Yet you see a lot of stock android and Google fans acting like stock android is the best thing since sliced bread This sort of thing rubs samsung fans the wrong way

@@lollymanna Yep I feel you, personally I find stock android boring, which. why I wouldn’t buy a Google pixel. I’m all about innovation and the Pixel isn’t necessarily a bad device, but I’ve been a Note fan since the Note 2. To me Samsung and Apple are the best in the US, abroad might be a different story, but in the States S22 ultra and IPhone 13 are the big boys 😂 and I’ll have both!!

How do these apps work with standard text messaging, specifically the billing aspect, when a message is sent to a phone without RCS, is it charged to their data plan?

I was using textra but switched to Google messages on my Note 10+.... One key feature I love on Google messages is Google pay through it..... Even though Samsung pay rules all mobile pay , if they incorporated that into their messaging along share location
