One more thing you forgot about the keyboards is that on Samsung or Pixel you can add numbers to the top while on IOS you have to constantly switch to the numbers and then back to text. That's a huge thing for me

You can hold the “numbers” key - hold and swipe, release at your desired number and you’re straight back to the letters (so no tapping back and forth) have just learned that after 10+ years of using iPhones… (on and off)

There's a few things you didn't mention. One UI offers the most flexible theming engine on any phone. Unlike on many phones where it only reaches to curves of the panels and icons, Samsung, through a specific Samsung app is able to change the system UI like the recent apps panel and so on. Both Android devices have a similar feature to IOS's Control Center long press the icon to get into a shortcut window in that icon. The difference with the Android devices being easier to access and can also allow you to go right into the settings page of that setting. You also have the ability to customize the picture quality on Samsung devices as well as the ability to hide certain apps and lock them. Not only that, Samsung now offers 4 years of software updates which is now closer to Apple and a year more than Pixel's. Personally, I would prefer to use IOS on smaller devices like 6.0inch or smaller. And Android for bigger devices, specifically OneUI due to this being probably the most convenient UI to use. Everything is accessible to one hand and while some features on Android might take sometime to be able to reach it, you can be sure that OneUI will already have it. There will also be a pop-up that will appear on the bottom right corner when you rotate your phone from portrait to landscape which is very handy. And despite OneUI taking a bit longer with the software updates, you can already expect alot of what came to Pixel to be already in your phone and there are alot of them, like those that I mentioned. The reason why I would prefer IOS on smaller Devices is due to it being complicated. Despite IOS devices being generally more powerful than Android and despite it having more optimized versions of the same apps found on Android, I find IOS to be....inconvenient on larger screens. The fact that you have to take multiple steps to be able to access one simple settings shortcut is....annoying, especially on larger screens. Which is why I would prefer to use it on smaller screens where I can really just do things with one hand. And, a few things you missed on the security front. Android smartphones has actually had alot of these features way before they became mainstream. Like asking you if would you allow an app to Track, access files, cameras, mic, etc. It's just that, before, it wasn't really expanded. There's alot of things that Android offers in terms of security which can also be found on IOS like the general Alert Pill that shows up whenever your using an App that's using your mic, camera, and such. This also shows the app that's using it with just a tap. You can also set the android devices to always ask the user if they want the app to access certain features of the phone. And it has three options from always to, just once, and never. To add more, Android has Google assistant. On the messaging front... Yeah, I would prefer the imessages but, seeing that there are many alternatives that works for me, Android's are fine too. On android, specifically, ONE UI. You have a shortcut toggle for the quick settings menu when playing games. While I have used experienced both softwares, I haven't really delve much into IOS since, I don't own an iPhone. Though I am aware of its inconveniences and advantages. Also, for the "Android being easier to hack" folks out there. There's a bajillion android models out there, all with their own taste, baseband version and ID of android. Even if the hacker find the model of my phone, they have to look into every single ID and baseband version. That's why Hackers tend to hack IOS devices more since they're in general, easier to hack as a whole with IOS being available to only APPLE iPhones. Though on the side note, Android is more vulnerable to malware but, Knox got you covered against that. Not sure about other android smartphones though.

In the last decade it's just almost become part of the Dutch community. We do everything via WhatsApp, work, school, friends etc. Believe it or not, we even have signs near the traffic signs that say: "Watch out! WhatsApp neighborhood prevention". In Samsung One UI, you can turn off Samsung Pay from showing up on homescreen. You can keep it enabled in the lockscreen and when the screen is turned off. This can be done on Samsung Pay settings, but yeah, for first time users it can be an annoyance. It annoyed me as well before figuring it out.

great video, but you missed a few things: 1:46 You can turn off the feature that makes samsung pay open on the home screen. It's not locked in 6:42 you can change the grid size way more freely using home up on goodlock 8:00 Samsung has quickshare that can link and send things between your samsung devices (galaxybook, tablet, phone, etc). They also have the constant popup that appears when opening your earbuds 15:40 You can customize the samsung keyboard too with goodlock There are other things I could point out, but then this would get kind of long. You gave pixel and ios more credit, while completely disregarding its suite of features and advantages. Like how oneui literally has up to 5 years of support now, but gaining updates faster and faster. These updates are also more reliable and stable lately than what goes on in the pixel. This a comparison, so make it a fair one.

Reasons why I personally prefer OneUI: • Unrivaled inventory of features • top-tier customisation • GoodLock • Dex • Bixby ROUTINES (automation for your phone and smart home appliances) • Split-screen and multitasking • OneHand Operation+ and system-wide focus on ergonomics and ease of use • Colourful, yet simplistic and clutter-free design language. Love the translucent effects and animations in OneUi 4 • Samsung's ecosystem is really good: I have an A51, TabS7+, Buds pro, galaxy watch 4, Samsung TV and some home appliances that work with the SmartThings app. The only downside is that their laptops aren't as good as the competition, but almost all the ecosystem functions will work with any Windows computer

Samsung ecosystem is VERY robust: I have the Tab S7+, Galaxy Watch 4, Buds pro and A51 phone, SmartTags and a Samsung TV. They work together very well for synced notifications, alarms, notes, reminders; The Buds switch automatically between devices whenever you play content, there's app continuity between phone and tablet for Notes and Samsung Browser, Universal clipboard, Multi control between Tab and Galaxy book, quickshare, synced Gallery, using others devices to make calls with the sim card in another device (I make, answer and decline calls from my tablet), casting content to the TV is super easy and you can get notifications on the TV as well, native Universal Passwords using Samsung Pass, if one device connects to a WiFi network other devices will also connect automatically (e.g your Watch will connect to whatever network you have saved on your phone), etc.

Mark another for One UI! I have an iPhone for work. Although it is simple, I find it to be a little too simple, somewhat basic. One UI really allows you to fully customize your device on almost every level, just the way you want it. iPhone is praised for its messaging (iMessage) and it's cameras. However, those days are long gone with the updated hardware and software. Google messages offers the same exact features as iMessage, and more. Also, One UI offers Nearby Share AND Quick Share, which is unique to Galaxy phones only, similar to quick drop. You also forgot to mention that Samsung will now roll out Android updates for 4 years and security updates for 5 years, as well as having the Google Now screen baked into the newer models. iPhone is too closed off, whereas both One UI and Android (Pixel UI) are open source, so it has a wider range of apps and features available to more devices. The Samsung ecosystem is also vast, they aren't simply limited to earpods and computational devices, as Samsung also offers home and kitchen appliances, which all connect. A TRUE ecosystem. I can run my washing machine, my Jet Bot Robo sweeper and smart TV, all from the Smart Things app on phone, laptop or tablet. There's just so many capabilities with One UI you cannot ignore!

Samsung devices sometimes get the monthly security updates before even the Pixel devices get them. Samsung gives 4 years of android updates and 5 years of security updates which is superior to Google Pixel devices. The only main difference is that you don’t get the newest android version immediately because they have to configure their one ui to work with the newest version. Tho this has also an advantage because they can add useful features stock android does not include thus marking it even better.

I use iPhone 13 and I have been android user ever since before 13. I have never liked the simplicity this much ever before and damn everything just works the way I intended things to work in my android phones, simple types. I always customised my android to extent that it can look synchronised within itself which it lacked in my opinion, just too much of assembling whereas IOS is in sync always. I liked apple ecosystem too much that I being fond of gaming, changed my decision of getting gaming laptop to apple MacBook Pro and then got iPad 5th gen to compliment it recently. I enjoyed the video. As a lifelong Android user I recently started using the iPad mini and the iPhone 13 because I wanted to see what the difference in my experience would be. The number one thing that keeps me from making apple my number one device is the fact that I am so tied in to Google and their apps. The Google apps just work so much better on the Google phones than on the Apple phone. I guess that's the point Apple made their product to work with their ecosystems and that's fine. Also I use the Google Assistant for so much and I do voice dictation so much that Android just blows Apple away. The Google assistant is far superior to Siri in my opinion based upon my usage. I'll probably return my Apple products because Google does everything I need plus it gives me more features and greater customization of those features.

That ''hiccup'' on one ui is actually a feature you can toggle on or off. Notice when you're on the home screen a card appears on the bottom of your screen. That is your default payment card on Samsung wallet formerly Samsung pay. it's basically an easy way to access it or the app in general and it quickly becomes second nature to unlock your phone then swipe up or just swipe up a few from the center of your screen regardless of what you had open to quickly open the app or make a payment.[NB: you can also set the card to appear on your lock screen but that is not on by default]

I like how you can hold the space bar and slide it to change the text cursor position on the iPhone. Additionally, you can change your keyboard; the only keyboard it comes with is the default, but the iPhone allows you to download an app for a keyboard. I also appreciate how fast and responsive the iPhone is, and how the older iPhones still feel great to use. I particularly like the premium materials; yes, I prefer aluminum and glass. I use my iPhone without a case or screen protector, and it's been fine when I've dropped it. It has even survived being thrown at the wall multiple times by my little brother. The first time, it was fine; the second time, the back glass cracked; the third time, the glass cracked a little more; and the fourth time, the screen cracked in the corner and messed up the whole screen. So, I've been using my old iPhone 6+, which has been fine. The battery's not the best, and it's not the fastest phone, but it's great for an 8-year-old phone today. When I get my newer iPhone XR fixed, I will start using a case. Maybe I'll stop using the case when my brother gets older. I got my iPhone XR for only $300 used, and it has been way better than any $300 - $400 Android phone. It's a lot faster, doesn't get laggy, and feels nicer in the hands. If you find a used Android phone, they normally feel slower than the new cheap ones, though they may feel better in your hand. For me, the iPhone is the best budget phone because I had a much better experience with my used iPhone XR than with the Android phones that are the same price or even more expensive.

@@JC-gg8fo Okay, but why does it matter who did it first? I could argue that the iPhone was the first to exist. I know this feature exists on some Android phones, but it hasn't been available on every one I've used. It's likely not a standard feature in stock Android. Personally, I prefer it with the haptic engine. I'm aware that some Android phones do have a haptic engine, but you typically have to spend much more than $300 to find it in a used Android phone. In my previous comment, I was only explaining why I like the iPhone. I don't understand why people become so defensive about the phones they buy; after all, your worth is more than some phone. All I wanted to share was why I liked the iPhone, why I chose to use it, and my experiences with both iPhone and Android within a budget of around $300 to $400. It's dumb how people can get so worked up over a phone. I would love to here your experiences with iPhone or android and why you use the phone you use today.

One UI With link to windows has a very similar thing to universal clipboard Blurring and mic focus are part of one UI 4 (they are under advanced settings I think) Having the pay gesture on the home screen is really useful, if you want to go to the recents screen, you just have to swipe up from a place that doesn't have the grey box Some other things I like on one UI are: With the camera, you can swipe towards the top of the phone to switch between the front facing and rear facing camera The double click power can open any app you want, and with the camera for example, it has a second function for if the app is open; the camera will flip between front and rear facing cameras Link sharing (I know you talked about it) but it is really helpful Dynamic Theming is beautiful on android 12 and I can't wait for more apps to support it

After being an android user from all the way back in 2012 till this very day where I'm daily driving a pixel 6 and an older Samsung Galaxy A71 which I use moslty for media consumption whilst im home so I don't kill the battery on my main Pixel phon, for a couple of weeks now, I've been leaning to the idea of getting an iPhone as my next primary daily driver. I'm sure it will be a massive adjustment for me as I've never used one before but after watching a ton of videos, especially this one and seeing how far the iOS has come, I'm willing to make the switch. One UI has come a very long way as well and I love all the features, new and old and while I love the pure android experience I'm getting on my Pixel, it's lacking a ton of features that one UI for example offers. Thank you for making and posting such an in depth video, you just gained a new sub. Now, I can confidently say that my next phone will be an iPhone 🤙

The main difference, in my opinion, between iOS and One UI is the level of polish. Sometimes on my One UI 4.1 device, if I do a gesture a little too fast then the developers made the animation, the interface glitches, jumps to random parts of the UI. While on iOS, the device is smooth as butter, the animations don't glitch. I do prefer android, but if Samsung spend a couple more dollars on polishing their UI, I think a lot of people would be more willing to switch.

I had an iPhone XS, switched to Samsung Notes (primarily for the note taking ability) I do not care much for the camera hardware. If i seriously want to take a picture, i use a Sony DSLR - which is superior in every single aspect to any phone anyway. However, since this is about the software/UI ... i agree mostly with you on the characteristics of IOS vs. OneUI. (cannot comment on Google Pixel as i do not have one) OneUI is not the fastest, but in everyday use - you wont notice a difference because you are not counting milliseconds. Some apps do indeed feature more functions on IOS .. but personally, i have not missed them when i switched. Games and apps run flawlessly on both - mostly because games (especially) and apps are coded to run on the smallest common denominator - meaning, they will always run well on current flagships. I really LOVE airdrop! (or loved it, when i used IOS) - and that one is the only feature i really miss. I couldnt care less for imessage .. because in my country, the most common phones are Android phones (but Apple as a single brand is still the most dominant - in terms of Android vs. Apple however .. Android dwarfs Apple) - long story short .. i use WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram - i dont use imessage at all. (never did) Customization is poor on Apple - but you wont feel it when you start on Apple. To mimic the Apple slogan "it just works.." - yes it does .. it does not necessarily work best for YOU, but it works. So .. a customer needs to adjust to Apple, which is not too hard. On OneUI, you make the OS adjust to your needs (which needs a few minutes of work). The benefit is .. that you can make your phone look and feel fresh over a longer time than when using IOS. Personally, i like OneUI better - is what i would say .. but the truth is .. i do not use OneUI (pretty much). I customized my OS to be nothing like OneUI. I use the Niagara Launcher with Adapticons (self made icons) .. and a completely custom feature-set of stuff, while having uninstalled almost all Samsung apps i can uninstall. So for all intent and purposes .. i "prefer" OneUI only because it allows me to get rid of it. Apple does not allow me to do that. I cannot have custom launchers like Niagara, Ratio or other more minimalist designs. Things like Dex are also nice - and i love that Samsung features it. I would be lying when i said i make use of it though. If i need a desktop, i use my PC. But it is nice to know that i CAN use my phone for it.

Great job highlighting the differences between the OSs. I've always found Samsung to be bloated with many duplicate apps and prefer straight Android or one of the lighter UIs like Motorola or Oxygen OS. Some of Samsung's features are nice, but they require a Samsung ID with legal terms of use. One point you missed is that on Android you can use any launcher that you want, which makes customizing your home screen(s) exactly to your liking quite simple. Every manufacturer has their own take on their UI. Over the years I've used Motorola, OnePlus and Samsung and found each has their pros/cons with none of them fully meeting my needs. I've come to enjoy and appreciate Nova Launcher as it allows me to set up a phone exactly how I like it, allowing me to resize widgets and decide on the number of icon rows/columns on the page.

You have one map, one gallery, you have one browser(unlike in ios if you use chrome, safari becomes bloatware if you have samsung, samsung browser becomes bloatware, if you prefer google assistant, siri and bixby becomes bloatware etc). And all of the AI features (which is also the best of all three) is integrated out of the box. Also the rotate indicator that pops in when you physically rotate your phone is the best. You didn't mention that Samsung with Link to Windows has the ability to share clipboard with windows and also with other Samsung devices. Also with Link to Windows you can easy copy pictures (drag and drop) on Windows from you Samsung phone. Also can answer messages, calls from windows. And OneDrive is integrated in to Samsung galaxy app. And can sync all your pictures across devices. But nevertheless great video! 👍 🙂

I was team iPhone with the iPhone 3G, 4 and 5 before switching to Galaxy with the S5 Active. Those bigger AMOLED screens and all the customization made me jealous. What I missed the most was iMessage, but I'm not much of a chatter anyway and darn near everyone I knew was on facebook/messenger. The ecosystem advantage of iOS is getting a lot smaller, at least with One UI and Phone Link on Windows. The same goes for OS/Security updates and iMessage. Samsung is now offering 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches on flagships and one year less on the mid rangers. With encrypted group chats coming soon, Google Messages will have all the same basic features as iMessage. Pretty soon, Android users will be the ones bullying iPhone users with green bubbles because the only thing it'll mean is that Apple is forcing them to rely on non-private, unsecure SMS/MMS to send/receive messages to/from encrypted RCS capable Android devices. No doubt iPhones are more powerful and run much smoother, but it aggravates the stew out of me that you've got all that power and still can't do things like dex and multitask on them. I was rocking two apps at the same time on my S5 active in 2015 and iPhones still don't have this ability in 2022!!!!! What's the point of all that power? That's like putting a 100 mph limiter on a SSC Tuatara (Google how fast it can go). Obviously I know the reason is because Apple is worried that no one will buy iPads and Macbooks. The limited simplicity is what gives me no desire to go back to iPhone. I would miss way too many features.

@@jimmie_g "Pretty soon, Android users will be the ones bullying iPhone users with green bubbles because the only thing it'll mean is that Apple is forcing them to rely on non-private, unsecure SMS/MMS to send/receive messages to/from encrypted RCS capable Android devices." This doesn't make any sense. If the messages from both sides aren't encrypted, how would it only affect one party? If Apple users are forced to rely on non-private and unsecure messaging systems, than anything sent to them would also be subject to the same parameters regardless. IDK why I even care. Android has an incredibly long way to go to get to a point where it's even on equal footing with Apple in the US, let alone getting to a point where they have enough influence to allow them to bully Apple into scrapping it's own proprietary messaging service in favor of something created by their direct competitor.
@jimmie_g
@jimmie_g 2 жыл бұрын
@@realwiggles I never said it would only affect one party. My point was that if the messages aren't encrypted, now it's solely due to Apple's refusal to adopt RCS. What a joke for a company that prides itself on privacy. They only care about privacy up until the point where it will start to affect their bottom line. At that point, screw privacy. And let's not exaggerate, Apple doesn't have to scrap their own proprietary messaging service. But they know exactly what adopting RCS would mean to their bottom line, so if they did, the end result would pretty much be the same. And they're supposed to be so far ahead of Android lol. I challenge you though to separate yourself from every other Apple fanboy/fangirl I've encountered and actually elaborate on exactly what it would take for Android to get to where it's "even on equal footing with Apple in the US."
@realwiggles
@realwiggles 2 жыл бұрын
@@jimmie_g I mean, how is that any different than how google operates now. Maybe Apple believes iMessage is the most secure messaging service and, considering their market share in the US, they have a vested interest in keeping it that way. Obviously they are going to trust their own software over anything else. And yeah, obviously money plays a part. But you’re acting like iMessage is some piece of shit service that we need to get rid of. Do you think Google is only focused on “the greater good” and that money doesn’t influence their actions just as much as it influences Apple’s? You can call me a fanboy but at least I’m not delusional enough to think one of the largest companies in the world just wants what’s best for everyone. Google dreams about controlling their own messaging service with as many users as Apple in the US. Why do you think they’ve tried to create their own half a dozen times. Just because they’ve failed to do so up until this point doesn’t mean they’re somehow morally superior to Apple. M Also, you understand they can implement RCS into iMessage when the time comes right? They haven’t done it yet because it’s not ready. Why would they assist google in their quest to replace every other messaging service. Lastly, I don’t understand what you’re saying in your last paragraph. Why do I have to lay out the way Android can obtain even market share with IOS, and what does being a fanboy have to do with it? Pointing out the obvious and not being naive about how business works doesn’t make me an Apple fanboy.

Yeah, exactly. I was peer pressured into getting an iPhone by both friends and family. After seeing how limited and restrictive iOS is I regret getting an iPhone (it wasn't my choice though. My dad bought an iPhone XR for me without letting me decide which one). It is ridiculous how Apple does not let you install apps from outside of the app store, and they claim it is for security reasons. "Security" my ass. Apple does it to retain 30% revenue. Google gives you the option to trust your browser or not. I also hate that you can't move apps wherever you want on iOS. All these fixes can be applied by jailbreaking your device, but I do not want to be stuck on an old OS, and the jailbreak scene is really slow.

I have both. Iphone 13 and S22 Ultra. Both are fantastic once you get used to it. Just remember that "customisation of android" fades away quickly and the simplicity of iOS is taken for granted quickly. Both are Phones first, media centers 2nd and camears 3rd in my opinion. Apple ecosystem is simple, but expensive to maintain and the equipment lasts a long long time and very very reliable. While people on android are treated to a diff design, innovation almost every single year, It is expensive too, but you get more out of your stuff.

Disagree with customization fading, every time I think I'm done customizing my phone, I find something new to tinker with. For me, it started with small stuff through tasker automation and learning how to use good lock to make everything my own, and has now evolved to making my own custom widgets through kwgt and even my own custom watch face for my gear s3. I imagine not everyone is as invested in this stuff as I am but for those who want to make a truly personalized phone experience, the tools are all there on android

I found this video after months of searching. It explains very well the differences between the UI’s. I currently use an iPhone and have been since they came out. Over the years I have tried to swap over to android many times without success. I think it is best put there are conditions to either UI/software. - Using Apple Pay is seem less and easy to manage. - using iMessage with your family allows you to get full resolution photos and videos (to an extent depending on length). I have tried all different kind of apps including signal. Not a big fan of meta so I’d rather not use messenger but I have tried it with the same results. On android: - customization. Something simple like rearranging your icons where you want. - transferring files to a computer is way easier. - google assistant is way better All in all if I could take an IPhone and mate it with an android it would be perfect. But unfortunately that can’t happen and would prolly be sued by both out of existence. Both companies use your personal information so it all boils down to preference. Personally I’d rather use android but I use an iPhone so I can stay connected better with my family.

I miss having the icons at the bottom of my screen as it's just easier for me to reach. I miss Gboard and having an actual number row on the keyboard. I also miss having my calculator app with an actual backspace on it. I also like universal navigation controls instead of having to reaching to the top to go back as well and being able to COMPLETELY hide that stupid home bar that stands out all the time. Also, USB-C is a bonus. And lastly, background activity. Kinda hated that I had to leave my iphone screen on for over an hour to download my spotify songs as they dont download in the background. The things I'll miss with apple are the apple watch first and foremost. It was so useful and when I owned a galaxy watch, it just kinda sucked tbh. Imessage and facetime will be missed as well. The health app will also be very much missed as well as the shortcuts app. I also kinda liked apple car play and preferred apple maps in many instances but overall, I'm happy to go back to android.
