Having been married for 30 years, my observation is that it is more like they have been married 2 or 3 years when it’s fun and you are in love. Having done both of the following, my advice to men and women both is to not get married and don’t have kids. Our youngest is finally going off to college. Maybe my husband and I will now reconnect. For most of the time so far we have just been friendly roommates. My husband worked 75 hours a week as a lawyer to save up money to send our kids to good colleges and I worked 35 hours a week at a job and then to kids to every activity they wanted to do and did household chores. We didn’t even have time to talk or even argue. I would be asleep by the time he got home and he would still be asleep when I left to take kids to school in the morning.

I think the tension between them was a natural result of the demands of that job. But, I think they genuinely like each other. There had to be some attraction between them or the show would not have worked as well as it did. There were rumors flying around awhile back that they had been involved recently. But who knows. Either way, they are one of the legendary partner/couples that were ever put on film. I miss those days. Gillian Anderson is still a babe.

There were times that they didn't get along, but it doesn't seem like it was constant. They just had to spent too many long days for too many years on set. It's normal for there to be negative tension at times.

Even though this interview was 5 years ago, it is still one of the best that I have ever seen of them and I have been a fan of them both since the 90s. The positive and beautiful space that they were in when they filmed the reboot just shows through this interview. And they will never be honest about the real reason. I honestly think that they had a casual sexual relationship that started after they filmed the pilot. David wanted to keep it going but somebody told Gillian that this would be bad for her career so she went and married her 1st husband to end things and it caused a lot of the tension at first. Then when they were both single (when they did the Rolling Stones cover) they got sexual again but David was with Tea' and didn't tell Gillian and that caused further tension and drama. They are getting older and maybe one day they will go ahead and be together openly but who they were in this interview with Jimmy feels like the most genuine and authentic throughout their 20+ years together. I re-watch this interview often. And I miss their social media back and forth. I want to say around 2013 through all the press and everything for Season 10, they were just so cute and adorable online and then Season 11 came and went and we didn't get much of that. It was hard to see watch the shift between them.
