No studio audience is paid, in fact they wait in long lines to go for free though, and fans will sometimes get tickets through giveaways or try to go to a show bc they announce the schedule in advance. In New York people fly in from all over just to see their favorite artist perform outside the studio. Especially if the group hasn’t performed in the area before but still has a large online following. It’s not hard to imagine fans would turn out to support. This is obviously a group that inspires a following.

What's special about this group is that they have been designing all their own choreographies since they were 14. They now even design choreographies for other groups. They also don't have a specific music genre, they do a lot of jazz fusion and punk and more recently have been working with the Beastie Boys producer Money Mark for the western market. They are NOT an idol group. Some have even called them an art project since it's so difficult to define them.

It's just so awesome to see a group like this that isn't afraid to not do the usual basic dance choreos and pop songs, bordering on something straight from a strip club or something, but actually doing something genuine, skilled, and different choreos full of personality. Same goes for the music. It's all over the place, but always interesting and often not basic mainstream music. I just hope the worldwide fame won't change any of that in the future.

America is in a recession rn. and the current culture only wants to stay in their bubble 'comfort'. So I highly doubt that. They would most likely get big in Mexico because it has a more lucrative market for international acts that aren't plants. Mexico is where british, japanese, italian, russian and even Indie US acts that are ignored by us propoganda music industry go to get their big breaks.

@@robmartin5448 If thats true than how do you explain the popularity of Kpop, Kdramas and Japanese anime and movies? I mean currently as of this month the 3rd biggest movie in U.S theaters Godzilla Minus One.

They hit just that right amount of "odd" that it's cool to like them.
Japanese music: Jmetal (Baby Metal) & Jrock (Band-Maid) have a growing following in the US. For Band-Maid alone they toured the US 3 times for 2023. And yes, their songs are all in Nihongo. Their music transcends language barriers.

Japanese music is next level. I've been to Summer Sonic, the concert that is held there in the summer. You don't even need to understand the lyrics to appreciate it. It is all about how the music makes you feel
@たぬき平八郎 Жыл бұрын
That's right. Even Japanese people can only recognize about half of the lyrics.

I used to listen to music that way, very nice! Until I started listening to lyrics and realize that some of them are f'd up. Like something I'd rather not support by listening to it. So I would definitely like to know what people are singing about. That being said, the story behind Tokyo Calling and its lyrics are outstanding. Especially for such a young group.

I'd like to actually see the musicians though. This could also be lip synched, which isn't cool. The sound is too uniform, so I doubt it's even them singing here to a music background.
