It's both. But when he feels unliked, making himself happy becomes much more important to him than everyone else's happiness. His growth is him readjusting that balance between his own and others' happiness.

That was probably my favorite Ryan moment of the series also. Just mouth full of string cheese, afraid to make a noise, silently shaking his head with eyes wide. And the "he's dead" bit was just timed perfectly for maximum funny.

I imagine that Pam was younger, and Roy seemed charming enough. She's also kinda meek and not too... Brave (or something like that. Can't find the exact word). So she stuck with him, despite Roy not appreciating her enough or doing enough work in that relationship.

Jim might go overboard with the pranks sometimes, but he has Dwight's back when it really matters. He was obviously very concerned about the concussion, for example.

I dunno, I actually found him a bit dickish by using that spray bottle knowing that he was injured. He's like, I know I'm supposed to help you out here, but the moment you make it inconvenient for me by falling over, I'm going to treat you like a bad cat.

@@jerodastthis is an example of people not getting things and not liking Jim for dumb reasons. He was spraying him with that because he has a concussion and can’t fall asleep as it’s dangerous so he’s trying to keep him awake. He didn’t have to drive him there he could have let someone else do it but volunteered and pushed to get it done faster since he was injured and kept him awake the whole time. People against Jim seem really incorrect. Jim physically fights him to get him to stop throwing away his job, he comforts him when he’s upset multiple times, and also puts up with a massive amount of grief Dwight gives him and mildly attacks back with pranks. And he’s spraying them to get them to stop going at each other in a moving car. Meanwhile Dwight fires a gun at someone’s head and people are like well it wasn’t that serious.

@jmgonzalez4 I think the care Jim does show for Dwight, the way Dwight takes the pranks, AND most importantly how Dwight gets back at him is the evidence I needed to support the brotherly feelings they have.

100%...They're almost necessary. If left unchecked too long Dwight turns into a monster. I don't think Dwight's a bad guy, but he's clearly out of his mind. There's a reason Jim only pranks Dwight like that. Maybe in the beginning people hadn't yet seen how maddening it is to work with Dwight. Especially for Jim, who is his desk mate. Every day Jim doesn't kill Dwight, is a win for him 😵

Great observation that Nice Dwight is something that couldn't have been pulled off in season one -- as we hadn't had enough time to get to know "normal" Dwight yet. Hadn't considered that before.

I said the same thing about season 1 but after having watched the entire show multiple times season 1 has become one of my favorites. It's in my top 3 seasons. I think it's very underrated.

Exactly. I think far more fans would go with Booze Cruise as favorite episode than The Injury, although Injury is well-loved too. Seeing the reaction it makes sense though - Booze Cruise is very Jim & Pam-y, so if you're lukewarm on that, it'll probably not be your favorite. I don't know how you can't love that heartfelt "never, ever, EVER give up" from Michael though (just keep in mind the implied "while respecting boundaries" of course :P). For me, Dundies, The Client, Booze Cruise, and the finale are probably the most memorable highlights of season 2, but only The Client is really focused on something other than Jim & Pam. Most of the rest of season 2 is "welp, that was an extremely funny episode" but in a sort of more "expected" way to me.

I love how in movies and tv series there's always some dude who has the love of some incredibly beautiful girl, and then decides to dump/neglect/ignore/replace her just because it's a movie or tv series and he'll get another incredibly beautiful girl. Like any normal guy wouldn't make it his absolute 24/7 no 1 priority in life to keep Amy Adams if he was with her. 😂

Honestly I did not see that move as brave, just depressed haha. His whole relationship he had to keep pretending he wasn't in love with someone else, and with the wedding date set he didn't even have the energy for that anymore, so it's Done.
