Project Impala SS, got to love old project cars. Another note some folks trash Dorman, but they make a lot of parts that save you a lot of money. Shifter bushing is a good example.

I feel your pain Jimmy. I occasionally have to work on a 2004 Impala SS. I hate that car. GM just never ceases to amaze me with their stupidity. Why on earth, on a longitudinally mounted engine, did GM use a jackshaft arrangement to drive a water pump? There is ample room to use a belt driven water pump, and cooling fan, that has worked satisfactory for years.

I think this engine was designed primarily for Corvette and Camaro then used in some others after. Not sure though. The biggest issue with them is distributor rotors burning up.

Yeah, the thermostat has to be in place and the heater hoses also have a restrictor. But once it’s overheated a bunch without those, all bets are off.

I do not remember if you are the owner or the GM or head mechanic. Do you or have you ever seen where a 2008 Pathfinder, with fully clogged front cats, has blown the radiator inner trans cooler??? Thanks for sharing your knowledge for all of us to learn more about turning wrenches. Still loving the new truck???

​@@nickhildabridle1612 Nissan Xterras and Honda Pilots of early 2000 vintage, were blowing internal coolers left and right, destroing some transmissions. I think Pathfinders were not far behind. Same radiator supplier?

They did have cooler issues, also problems with cats. I have think the two issues might be separate. The new Tundra has been awesome. Best truck I’ve ever owned and I’ve had a lot. :)

The overheating SS makes for good content, but I'd also like to see you get paid for your effort. The owner needs to watch the videos, open his vault, and share some cash.
