A family friend had one from new, although it was auto which made it much less appealing to a teenager in the early 00's! JDM imports were also common (similar to NZ) as the JDM models had more power and better overall spec. "Grey" imports were also usually a lot cheaper

Australia got around 3800 S15s main difference being the spec s came without sunroof & r had a sunroof, the last 800 or so delivered after may 2002 were the GT variant (couple of chrome parts in the interior but both spec s & r were DET). So yeh they did sell new here mine still has the original dealership sticker on the back window

S15 are in Aus. 200sxs area is delivered models and same as nz. Smaller turbo, reflectors in rear bar and no rear windshield wiper are what make the difference the most noticeable. Spec s and r are all turbo from the factory. Silvia’s are imported to both nz and aus often, although spec s is is non turbo in Silvia’s. For the sunroof model they came in spec r gts, they also came with shadow chrome acents wheels, inside door handles etc.

The only difference between the NZ new and AU new S15 turbo model is that NZ got the 6 speed manual while AU got the 5 for some reason.
