I'm slowly working my way through some the greatest Hironobu Kageyama DBZ tracks. This is one of those ones where after covering it, I realized how freakin awesome it is. When I'm remaking a track I really get to intimately know it because I'm listening to and recreating every little detail my ears are able to pick up. There's something magical about the melodies that Kageyama comes up with, they're simple and straightforward by todays standards, yet his vocal performance puts so much power behind them. Like with my Unmei No Hi cover, and my Cha-La one too, it's a fun challenge to try and bring that same amount of energy through my instrumental versions.

Gave me chills and transported me back to an earlier, simpler time. For just a moment there, I rembered what it was like being a young fan back in the early 00s, waiting for Z to come back from the post-Cell hiatus and getting swap meet bootlegs of fansubbed Majin Vegeta saga tapes. First, hats off to the remake, especially the chorus backing vocals, excellent touch. Second though… Kageyama is mainly the vocalist of the DB songs he’s part of. Normally the composer, arranger, and even lyricist are different people entirely (even though he does 2 of those roles well in his own right for JAM Project). In this case, it would be Keiju Ishikawa who composed this (and arranged the original). Cha-La HEAD-Cha-La (and Unmei no Hi as well) was Chiho Kiyooka (original arrangement Kenji Yamamoto).
