For me, the most broken common moveset historically has to be: Ground type with (Toxic, Earthquake, Stealth Rock) - Toxic only misses Poison and Steel types, which is dealt with by - Earthquake, weak only to Flying and Bug, which is dealt with by with - Stealth Rock Left is the Ass type - oops I mean Grass type. In all srsness, I think this combination has historically since Gen 4 been THE trendsetter for what mons end up in OU and what doesn't. Gliscor, Skarmory, Corviknight, Celesteela, Ferrothorn etc has been historically exceptional at dealing with this strategy and has been popular for decades. Now that (thankfully) Toxic's no longer universal and Boots is an item, there's more room for other strategies to evolve. But I think for decades this exact set THE most powerful and set the standard for all other mons to have to deal with.

@@roberteriksen6434 I've always liked Mixed Attacker with... Ice Beam Fire Blast Earthquake (STAB option) It hits everything neutrally, and the three coverage options hits a lot of the meta of several generations super effectively- or even doubly super effectively. I use this set on Assault Vest Goodra, and that thing comes in and immediately forces switches. Meaning it forces prime opportunities to hit surprisingly hard with an SE option if I predict right.

It’s worth commenting that Electric-type as a type is fundamentally different in every generation, both in its representatives and how the type works offensively and defensively. RBY’s limited coverage options, significant emphasis on status, and absence of entry hazards make Zapdos the menace it is in OU. Thunder’s buff, Restalk mechanics, and Hidden Power DVs characterize GSC and enable Zapdos and Raikou to dominate. ADV rolls back a few buffs to Electric-types but gives new tools to Zapdos and Raikou with Baton Pass and Calm Mind while Electric-types all contend with new mechanics making them and their targets generally frailer. DPP’s physical/special split change coverage options and generally still limit physical Electric-types but introduce Rotom-Appliance for a long-term bastion of the type and feature Magic Guard Clefable’s evil yellow magic. Drizzle rain in BW OU returns Thunder to the forefront while debuting Thundurus’ forms and splitting Rotom’s forms further on top of introducing the extremely powerful Volt Switch and giving functionality to Lightning Rod in singles. ORAS rolls back Electric’s dominance somewhat but introduced new traits like Electric’s paralysis immunity for some defensive utility. SM mercifully nerfed paralysis’ debuff yet introduced Tapu Koko to actually implement Electric Terrain meaningfully along with new tools like Electric Seed. SS was a sleeper mixed bag for Electric types, where Heavy-Duty Boots make Volt Switch much less punishable via hazard chip while at the same time removing the arguably overtuned Hidden Power, cementing Zapdos in OU while letting Zeraora take off. Gen 9 has given Electric-types the option of Terastallization, rolling back the Hidden Power removal to some extent, but making the base type arguably less potent. Electric has been a very different type in each gen, and this long comment barely scratches the surface of more nuanced changes like buffs to more individual Electric types, lower tiers, or Electric coverage on non-Electric types.
@Sintra48 ай бұрын
Zapdos has always been one of my favorite Pokemon. I love how it can be great offensively and defensively in every gen and tier it finds itself in. I also find it amusing that it's pretty much objectively better than Articuno and Moltres, since it always has a super effective STAB for both of them.
@MaxBurnHeart8 ай бұрын
Electric is a very fun type. One would think it's really broken, with only ground type dealing supereffective damage. But in reality, the type itself is quite average. What makes it good is that electric makes a great second type. Because the only type that is supereffective against it is ground type, if someone has levitate or flying type, it's a really great buff. Like, electric/flying is one of the best types in the game. Electric/Ice is infamous for being the best offensive combo. Everything is better with electric type.

Except Rock, Poison, Fire, or to an lesser extent Steel sad Iron Thorns and Toxtricity noises
@MaxBurnHeart7 ай бұрын
@@goGothitaLOL They would be fine too if they were given to more offensive Pokemon. Like, Electric/Fire with Levitate is excellent, as shown with Rotom-Heat. But a more offensive one, like a sweeper with more than 100 base speed and decent offensive stat would be a great addition. Same with Electric/Rock, as the speed of Iron Thorns is what's holding it back. Toxtricity would be fine too if it had better speed. At least it has Shift Gear, which is something. Giving such offensive stab combos to a slow-speed Pokemon just doesn't work.

You should talk about the most criminally forgotten electric type. That couldn't even be saved with a new form. Raichu
@alyssarichardson25447 ай бұрын
It's new form was retarded, they should have just broken the "3 stage rule" and made Gorochu. Raichu looks more like Charmeleon, Quilava, Grovyle, Wartortle and Ivysaur than any of their fully evolved forms. There was concept art and everything for Gorochu. Raichu got stuck as a mid-tier evolution because of the stupid 3 stage cap and Pichu selling better (merch makes Pokemon more money [like over 3x] than games), since it's cute and looks closer to Pikachu. If you can give a pokemon Eviolite and it's still weak, that pokemon needs an evolution. It's needed one since gen 1, Raichu was literally never meant to be a final stage evolution... It's the Pikachu line, they can break the rules with it. No reason to not have 4 stages if one of them is a baby, baby-pokemon are functionally useless.

The quintessential “Legendary Electric” is one of my favorite tropes in all of Pokémon. I’ve gone on record saying Pichu is one of my favorite characters in gaming almost entirely off of a Pokémon Ranger game, but the other side of the power spectrum is incredibly fascinating with the dominant highs inspired by Zapdos and Raikou as early as Gen 2. Without these classic Legendaries, we wouldn’t have ever received metagame giants like Thundurus, Zekrom, Tapu Koko, and Miraidon. Edit: I almost completely forgot about Regieleki; Gen 8’s my least favorite generation by a long shot and I don’t care much for extra additions to existing Legendary groups that don’t fit the rest of said group thematically.

16:20 i hate to call out my beloved jimothy but this is misinformation. if your answer into zapdos is jolteon then you're getting t-waved immediately, getting chunked by hidden power and achieving nothing besides trading with zap. any time i've put jolt on a team that's otherwise weak to zap i've been constantly scrambling to switch something else in anyway since i'm scared of t-wave, and it's not like you can use heal bell/aroma since the whole point of jolt is to answer zap on offensive teams which definitely can't fit it. last time i gave jolt the benefit of the doubt and tried it was a medi/heracross fighting spam team with pory-2, and my line into zapdos was to switch in physically bulky pory since i could recover the damage and trace natural cure later. jolt is good as an offensive spike abuser but volt absorb is absolutely garbage in gen 3 since t-wave goes through, i'd actually rather it had no ability since it lets enemy pory switch in for free lol. if i want an aggressive switch in to special attackers i just use regice it's better in almost every scenario as long as you have another fire resist
