Great Jim. Going threw the data sheet. Yes Grid current ! Also as tube reaches end of life that grid current will rise . Great stuff so far 73

Yes, good point, it will rise as the tube becomes less effiicient and requires more drive. Those old Eimac tubes that I had in the amp were pretty damn good for 47 years old. I am sorry that I broke one of them. I did not notice the fan was stuck. 73, Jim

Picked up an old Henry 2-3K with 3-500Z tubes. Haven't had the chance to check it out yet.

I have had pretty good experience with the Henry Greenstone 3-500 tubes from China. They test them as they come into stock. They are $229 a piece and you can get matched pairs…..

Hi Jim: I'm Michael DE VO1OP from Newfoundland Canada and I was wondering if you could do a video on the plate dissipation of a 3-500Z VS SSB, CW and digital operation? As the 3-500Z has a plate dissipation of 500W but if you tune it to the max allowable plate current and grid current levels, your pushing well over a KW. I think these numbers can be very confusing. Thanks and 73: Michael DE VO1OP

I don't remember one question in the technician or general pool that covered these hazards.

Excellent point, truly excellent, they don't cover stuff that is so important. The questions on the currrent extra class are ridiculous. Thanks, Jim
