I think the reason for the beautiful and comfortable conversation between Chef Baek and Jin is that they really are friends behind the camera. Jin said he doesn't have many friends but he truly built a great relationship with a few people like Chef Baek, Chef Lee, Seokjin of Running Man and Chris Martin. And because his relationship with these people are real and already deep, it's not difficult for him anymore to do shows with them, especially now that he's on his solo debut. This is a great series, we learn a lot about their culture, at the same time getting as much Jin content as we can. Looking forward to watching the 2nd episode with you Familia!! Borahaeeee 💜

I'm currently watching "Backpacker Chef," which stars Baek Jong Won going to unexpected places to cook for a large number of people with a specific purpose (ex. hundreds of Korean firefighters requested a cold meal to fight off the summer heat and BJW would cook a whole meal for all of them in a short amount of time. And he went to cook a healthy and hearty meal for correctional officers at a prison camp. he has even been on navy ships and Korean military base camps and cooked for 500 young Korean soldiers who missed eating authentic homemade Korean food). Love that show! I'd say BJW is super famous in Korea for being a real, down-to-earth cooking style and personality. Unlike other chefs that tend to make food fancy, aesthetic-looking, and hard-to-get ingredients, BJW makes food that is really easy with highly accessible ingredients, and best of all, all his cooking tastes homey :) lots and lots of Korean people love BJW and use his recipes (even my mom and aunt automatically search for his recipe when they want to cook something new).

Mr. Paik (his last name in English is Paik, although in Korean it's pronounced Baek) is one of the most beloved celebrity chefs and a food business mogul in Korea. He owns almost 20 brands of franchises, with almost 2,000 stores worldwide. He also has a KZbin channel called Paik's Cuisine which was widely popular (you should check them out he teaches how to cook Korean food simple and easy, it has English subtitles) and has been on multiple Netflix and other TV shows. He is also known for helping Korea local farmers and fisherman to have better access to selling their goods to public. Fun fact: he is also married to Yoo-Jin So, a famous Korean actress. Lastly, if you are in LA area, you may have seen Paik's Noodles selling jjajjangmyun - that is his franchise.

When I first saw makgeoli featured on other Korean channels, I thought it looked so unappetizing, fizzy milky alcoholic rice. But now after seeing so many Koreans, including BTS, enjoy it I want to at least try. I've looked up which brands to search for at Korean grocery. Most of the makgeoli sold in the US is made here- it is nothing like the traditional makgeoli Jin is making. Homemade makgeoli can not be exported from Korea due to the live fermentation and would not be safe for shipping and longer storage times. US made adds corn syrups, sugars and adds CO2 carbonation. So it prob. tastes fine, but is not home brewed taste where the sweet tastes are all naturally from the fermentation process. There are some Koreans in the West who are brewing their own and serving in their bars, restaurants so it could be found by some other drink artisans.

3:29 막걸리 is great until you wake up next day.. hangover's a pain lol Slightly tar but rather on the rice-y sweet side! And it's makes you feel full too. My favorite version is usually ones with fruit mixed in. Those don't really feel like alcohol so be careful tho 😂

I can see the Horchata reference Marisol, they are both rice/grain drinks, I thought the same. I've never had an alcoholic version of Horchata before I'd guess it would be similar but I think it's more sweeter than Makgeolli. Makgeolli's base doesn't have cinnamon in it.
