It is so much fun to see people watch this with no context. The story is that Jin wanted to go fishing with this music producer and while fishing they wrote this song as a lucky fishing song which at the time only had 1 verse and he released it on his birthday as a gift to Army before he went into the military for fun and to make us smile . He was not expecting it to go viral but it did which he often says is "embarrassing". But not so embarrassing that it kept him from re-releasing it again with a 2nd verse and new MV when he was released from the Army. The OG video is adorable as well. He told us to only watch it alone and not share it but of course ARMY sent it to #1 on iTunes. He does perform it live in the festa concert he did the day after his release from the military. One fine day, Jin went fishing with his friend ( he was also working that day, for his photo folio), as they were fishing they decided to make a song out of the conversation they had while fishing! So Jin made this song in like 15-20 minutes. And then he recorded it, filmed it and released it as a surprise on his birthday back in 2021. Surprisingly (for him) ARMYs loved it and made it chart😂😂. I remember Taylor Swift had released her album then, and the BB chart was full of her songs. But then there was Jin with his fish song blocking it😂😂🤣. Jin worked with a producer, Bumzu, on his very serious song, Abyss, and they became good friends. Jin LOVES fishing and went on a fishing trip with Bumzu. Jin really wanted to catch a tuna that day, but the boat owners told him that tuna were not running in that part of the ocean. Against all odds, Jin caught a tuna that day! He and Bumzu wrote this song together on the boat that day and he originally released it on his birthday a couple years ago as a gift to army and it became a viral hit. 🐟❣️Jin’s song Super Tuna was originally released, a much shorter version, on his birthday (born December 4, 1992), over a couple of yrs ago, when BTS were performing in America in LA. Jin loves fishing so he went while there on a day off, and decided to come up with this song. Jin made it for army, his fans, to celebrate his bday. He had no idea at the time that it would blow up so big at the time & become such a success! It did so especially since it being a “trot” song, that style becoming popular again. *Trot is a genre of Korean popular music, known for its use of repetitive rhythm and vocal inflections. Originating during the Japanese occupation of Korea in the first half of the 20th century, trot was influenced by many genres of Korean, Japanese, American, and European music. I absolutely love this so uplifting, so energetic, silly, so fun song of Jin's. Since it was so short, Jin added another verse and created a Super Tuna Pt.2. Jin also performed it during a live concert he gave to a small group of army his fans, around 3,000, where he performed immediately the day after his release from the military. 👍😍🐬🐟🐠😁🌟✨💫

The original video (over 2 years ago) was very similar (he's taken it down when this one went up, but you can find it as many people reacted to it). It sparked a tiktok dance craze I heard which apparently embarrassed Jin, I'm sure he thought "THIS is what I'm going to be famous for???!!". The original song was something of a low-key semi-joke: he looooves fishing, and he came up with it one day with one of the producers he's close with who fishes with him. Then he unveiled the new version of Super Tuna in the middle, and closed with Moon - the first time he's performed it to a live, in-person audience. Got my hoodie ordered. :) "Super Tuna" won't be on his album. He released this two years ago on his birthday for free for ARMY, but it was a shorter version filmed in LA while they were their for their Permission to Dance concerts. He had Bumzu (another artist with HYBE that helped him with the first version) write another verse for him and he recorded it right after he was released from the military. He performed it live the day after his release when he did the hug-a-thon for FESTA. He held off releasing the official longer version and MV because of Jimin's "MUSE" album release. He legit loves to fish. You should check out the first version as well. Also... when he asks the Tuna to marry him... the tuna blushes and the Hangul "네 형" is on the screen... "yes hyung" :P

On “In The Soop” season 1, he tried to fish several times in the lake and couldn’t catch anything. He made a painting and took it on the boat to help convince the fish and fish god to let him catch one. So, this song was just for fun to share with ARMY, no deeper meaning really. Your reaction to this video gave me almost as much joy as super tuna brings to my life every time I listen to it. It truly is an ear worm. I don’t know if I like it more, knowing how embarrassed he is that we all love it so much. He’s so unserious I love him. In the original version of super tuna he made his managers do the dance with him and they had ocean themed dog toys sewn to their clothing… FYI the dog toys sold out.
