Ma'am .. you asked if the "Devil Gene" is still present? To answer your question, we need to go back a little bit on the lore dive. The "Devil Gene" indeed in fact came from Azazel (the huge demon you fought earlier), it was the progenitor of the said power however it's NOT the only existing force in the Tekken universe. - There's the cursed bloodline of the "HACHIJO clan" from which Kazuya's mother "Kazumi Mishima" originated from before she married into the Mishima. Keep in mind that Kazumi was sent by the clan to infiltrate and kill Heihachi before he becomes a monster. - The "KAZAMA Clan" also has a clan member that was possessed by an "Unknown evil force" which is still to this day not clear. This evil force took shape in "Jun Kazama's twin sister" and was named "Unknown" as the final boss of the "Tekken Tag games". Even tho Tekken Tag were said to be non-canon but the fact that a Kazama is the main antagonist of said game still counts. Also here in Tekken 8, Jun is currently using some modified moves of Unknown due to her being the Unknown final boss replacing her twin sister who was defeated in the first tekken tag. - I don't know if this counts but ... "ELIZA" was a sort surprise character who came out of nowhere in Tekken 6 I think. She's was a "800 year old sleep deprived VAMPIRE" who was sleeping underneath Lily's mansion who either woke up too early or slept too long who falls a sleep during a fight standing. Lily for whatever claims to be Eliza's sister but that's impossible because Lily's 100% human. But still a Vampire still counts as an evil force I guess. -Now this may not exactly comes as a surprise but Yoshimitsu who shares his sword's name is also a cursed. The sword needs to constantly feed on blood to retain control otherwise the wielder will suffer heavily. I'm not 100% sure if this is canon but Yoshimitsu is said to be a descendant of the character Yoshimitsu in "Soulcalibur" which is kind random. But I actually believe it because Heihachi was a guess character in Soulcalibur 2. I guess the "Evil sword Souledge" summoned warriors from different time period and reality to fight in order to gather power. -The "Mishimas" are said to be descendants of the Thunder god which explains the lightning element in their moves. -Heihachi's father "JINPACHI MSHIMA" was sealed away underneath the temple and woke up when the temple was destroyed in Tekken 5. Heihachi took control of the Zaibatsu in order to secure power and release the power of his bloodline. When Heihachi went missing after the destruction the temple, Jinpachi regained the Zaibatsu and announced the 'King of the Iron fist tournament" with him as the final boss in his demonic form. It is canon that Jin won and took over the Zaibatsu but he changed so much and started WW3 (I'm not joking). -We have "AKUMA". Now we know Akuma as a Street Fighter character but it is canon that he was tasked by Kazumi to kill her husband and son if she failed. Akuma is like "Madara" from Naruto, a proud warrior and refuses to fight WEAKLINGS (in Madara's words) ... "What adult fights at full force against mere children?"... Akuma basically waited 40 years just for the both of them to be stronger so he could enjoy a fight with a worthy opponent. -Finally we have "OGRE", now not much is known about Ogre except the said he was un alien who was dropped off in the Aztec as a sort of fighting god and woke up during Tekken 3 and began a rampage, which result in the death of "first KING" (the Jaguar masked wrestler) and wiping the Kazama clan. Jun sensed Ogre's approach and told Jin that if anything happen he must go to his grandfather Heihachi.

I love how even though Kazuya lost his devil powers he's like:"So what I still got these HANDS". Instead of freaking out he just accepts it,it's honestly refreshing! Also that pose that Jin does with his glove at 21:01,that's the same pose he uses in the opening of tekken 3,the game he first debuted,as a way of bringing his character arc full circle,followed by him using the moveset he had on tekken 3!

Those final chapters hit hard for me. Jin not only accepting his power and his friends, but more importantly accepting HIMSELF the Lars moment (I've been a longtime Lars hater, but that scene where Kazuya was getting PTSD flashbacks was godlike) The dynasty warriors war segments the tournament Kazuya being a total BOSS Angel Jin THE MUSIC Everything hit for me I cant wait for the DLC story Really enjoyed your playthrough as always

fun fact: Jin stopped using Mishima style after Tekken 3 because of him rejecting his lineage, so he started using Kazama style in Tekken 4 which is why he changes movesets in the final fight. Since he accepted it and isn't running away from it anymore.

Jin didn't start using Kazama Style after Tekken 3, he switched to a more traditional Karate style (though not the most traditional one, which is what Lidia uses). Devil Jin retained Tekken 3 Jin's moveset which is Mishima Style Karate with some Kazama Style Martial Arts mixed in. But yeah, in the final few rounds of this fight Jin incorporated all three styles into his final moveset, which is awesome.

Not only that when you fight Kazuya after that cutscene, Jin is in his Tekken 3 fighting style AKA The Mishima Fighting Style. Character episodes are a quick intro cutscene, followed by five matches, and then a unique special ending for every character. You can probably find a compilation of them on youtube if you don't want to grind out all of them one by one. Many of them can be funny or tell you something about the characters so I think they're worth watching in some capacity.

I had never thought the final Kazuya vs Heihachi battle from Tekken 7 could be topped in it's style and cinematics, but good lord, Tekken 8 went above and beyond. I'm not sure if you'd be interested, by the way, but every character in the game has their own unique ending in the Character Episodes - and some of them are well worth the watch. Although, having to fight five matches in a row per character with little variation gets a little tired, so if you did want to check them out, I'd recommend just watching a compilation.

Character Episodes are side content that is speculative of what happened to each character either after the story or just what ifs in terms of what if they won the tournament, some have canon endings, others are clearly not, Jun side story however is canon, you can play those without issue, the Season 1 complete pack will come with some story but not yet 4 new characters will be added also.

The story expansion itself is actually free for everyone, you don't need to purchase the season 1 character pass. It's dropping in Autumn/Fall, probably alongside Heihachi's release.

Reminder that Jin HATED to use it because it reminded him of his grandfather who taught him the Mishima moves (bro got shot in the head, can't blame him), tho it doesn't stop him being top in every single games he appear in. And there is a bad ending if Jin lose to Kazuya in last round of the chapter. But yeah definitely would love to see you react to the character episode, some are really funny and some can be sad. Also the character that approaches Kazuya is Jun.

Did you see how Kazuya didn't land the killing blow when he had the chance to? He does need therapy. But what he needs the most is someone seeing through his facade. The only person who bothered doing that was Jun and their relationship didn't last long enough. I'm also not sure if Jin and Kazuya are aware of what Heihachi did to them both. I feel like that should be a uniting factor. They have more in common than they think.

21:00 as others have pointed out, this is jin's tekken 3 theme, as well as his moveset and the pose he does is the cover of t3. now this is pretty insane because jin doesn't have this moveset outside of this one part of the story mode and hasn't had it since tekken 3. which, for reference, was on the playstation in 1997. the next section, he has jun's moveset and the song is the ending theme of tekken 2 from 1995, which is the only game jun appeared in prior to this game. again, only used in this part of the story mode. same with angel jin. the final version of jin we see during this story mode where it's a mix of all the styles plus devil jin is PROBABLY, logically, what he'll play like in tekken 9 but we won't know for like another decade lmfao

So by the end of this game, Kazuya has taken Heihachi's place as the pure human antagonist, Reina has taken Kazuya's place as the Devil Gene-wielding antagonist, and Jin has taken Lars's place as the pure human protagonist opposing them. The more things change, the more they stay the same. I can't wait to see what they do with Reina next.

Unless you meant the final chapter, which yeah, Kazuya is a pure human antagonist during that. But otherwise, I don't think he'll be an antagonist anymore.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your time with Tekken 8's main story mode I do hope you check out the character stories it is more gameplay focused but the little cutscenes you get for beating them are incredibly entertaining I would definitely recomend Kazuya and Alisa's stories. Also if you would like to check out other fighting games both Mortal Kombat 1 and Street Fighter 6 have quite newcommer friendly campains. MK1's story mode tells a nice little story that doesn't require prior knowledge and SF6's world tour is lots of fun but is a much more unconventional singleplayer mode I would recomend looking further into it before considering doing an LP. Also I just want to say thank you for all the entertaining content I've been watching this channel since the Yakuza 0 days and your videos never fail to entertain.

Street Fighter 6 is also amazing and very newbie friendly. They have modern controls, which helps you perform special moves much easier. And they have a World Tour mode. Where you can create you own character and explore the city as you challenge fighters and learn new techniques. Great game!

About the character episodes... Those are the equivalent of an Arcade mode for each character. Good for character instropection, none of them actually happening (unless next game says so at least). This... Is exactly where even non-Mishima characters can truly shine in the one and only Tekken style.

All of Kazuya's flashbacks are in 7 when he faces heihachi for the final time and honestly this fight was epic in scale and story telling for Jin. But heihachi vs kazuya in the volcano was peak just true unadulterated rage an cinema in terms of story telling. Kazuya got hit so hard by heihachi he saw him as his younger self we see this from Kazuya's perspective which means if he saw heihachi as his younger self than that means Kazuya must've felt like a child again.

Actually when you said you were doing the rage art too early, you were actually too late lol it has a big hitbox but it can’t hit opponents if they’ve hit the floor or just about to hit the floor. You can use it when they’re in the air tho you can basically just mash it ASAP if they’re in the air and it should hit them Thanks for playing Tekken 8! It was fun watching you experience it for the first time like watching you experience Yakuza way back haha I’m very happy that Tekken 8’s story was the way it was and it was as beginner friendly as it was I’d be very happy to see you either play through the character episodes or just react to the cutscenes! The character episodes are scenarios where each character enters the king of iron fist tournament for their own reasons, you get to fight as that character against the cpu in the tournament, and at the end they get a unique cutscene about how the results of the tournament goes for that character if they were to win. They are really funny and cool, if you feel up to it, it would be nice to get some videos of you playing those.

The thing with Kazuya he's obsessed with power as a mean of control his whole life has been dedicated by others [ Whether that be throwing him off a cliff ] or being experimented on. In w sense like nina he's dog chasing his own tail . And i will say it again when it comes to the main mishima line THEY'RE NO GOOD GUYS! Jin started world war 3 and had millions killed one who was Miguel's sister on her wedding day [ the guy in tekken 6 who held up the champagne glass this neat plot was dropped in 7] Kazuya is an international criminal in his own right he is kinda responsible for Eddy Gordo's father's death [ another popular character who was dlc this year] it was a mob hit I think. And heihachi literally used abused and manipulated everyone even people who could have been his true friends [ Lee and Jin] I think Lee is glad he's adopted!! 😂😂 Asuka is glad she's a distant relative! Kuma is the only person Heihachi loved unconditionally!

You should absolutely play the character stories, at the very least check out "Side Story: Jun Kazama" in the gallery (it's the last one in the Special section) and then play her character story. As others have said the character stories themselves are kind of blurry in terms of canon (some are clearly non-canon or "what if?" scenarios) but they're all entertaining and often quite funny.
