Former TLC star Jinger Duggar Vuolo returns to the show with her husband, Jeremy Vuolo. Her life was infamously chronicled in the Duggar family’s 2008 reality show, “19 Kids and Counting.” Since the show, a flood of controversy has surrounded the Duggar family-from the #FreeJinger movement to Josh Duggar, Jinger’s brother, being sentenced to 12 years in prison for child pornography charges. Fast forward to the present-both Jinger and her sister Jill have written memoirs about the experience. Jinger joins our episode titled “Behind the Crime” with the latest update.

We still have to call the acts of molestation "alleged" because he was not convicted in a court of law, unfortunately. Now the CSAMs? He was convicted for that. So, it is legally a "fact". Ms. Hall has to be careful to make the distinction.

I completely agree 👍👏this Cult and her parents both need to be called out especially JimBob with all of his control issues and manipulation and I never bought into Michelle’s goody two shoes attitude about having so many children that she never raised because the older kids were doing it for her. I knew some day one or more of the kids was going to write a tell all book because they never looked happy growing up in that environment. Josh needs to be where he is and IMO should’ve gotten a longer sentence than he was given and I wish Jill all the best because she deserves it ❤.

I remember when Michelle took her to weight watchers it was horrible and she looked good but her mom made her go. People end up with eating disorders because of things like this. Also I watched in the beginning and know wonder they were homeschooled cause they worked constantly cooking, cleaning and raising the younger siblings it was child labour which is against the law for a reason. Not a good example of great parenting and protecting Josh after he s… abused his siblings. He needs to stay in jail for his whole life and the parents should be charged for protecting him and keeping him in the house.

I see a lot of people criticizing Jinger for not being as outspoken as her sister. But the whole point of them being out of the cult is that their individual personalities can come through. It's possible that Jinger is still afraid, and that's why she's much more reserved than her sister. But it's also possible that she's a different person who needs to process and express her experiences in a different way. One of the other sisters might break free and choose not to talk or write about it publicly at all. And that would be just fine, too. It doesn't have to be a sign of living under fear or control.

@maddyspinks
@maddyspinks 7 ай бұрын
I think that it’s possible that she maybe can’t legally rock the boat too much and has to be careful about what wording and phrases she specifically uses. In Jill’s book she said that the money JB orrigionally offered the older kids, Jinger included, was contingent on them all signing lifetime NDA’s and that all the other kids singed with only some adding minor changes, but there is no way that JB would have negotiated the NDA part of the deal. If she did sign paperwork saying she couldn’t speak out negatively it is probably why she can talk about the IBLP in a negligent but never actually says negative things about her family other than josh, who after all that happened with she can probably get away with somewhat without her dad deciding to sue for breaching the agreement, but is also why she can say really nice things about Jill being strong and finding a voice because she isn’t speaking anything directly bad about her family in doing so.

Is a matter of personality in my opinion. Jinger is a very reserved, soft spoken woman, she, like Jill also loves her family despite all these negative issues. They address them differently, Jinger chose to write a book that would be more focused on examining the belief system she grew up in through the lens of the Gospel, which is what we Christians believe. Is not what other commenter here said that she paralleled Gothard belief system against McArthurs belief system, because after reading Jinger 's book, as a Christian, all I recognized was the Gospel through and through. That aside, what I observe is that Jill's approach to writing her book is more biographical, therefore includes dialogues and reenactments of some encounters within the family, and that's just a literary form chosen to share a story. Both books are true to the authors and valid accounts. But they are different literary styles. Jinger is free from a faulty teaching and it's practices, so is Jill. Both are born again Christians that are growing in their understanding of the Chrstian faith on their own now, not under the umbrella of their parents.

I am not shocked at all by the way the parents treat the girls-- after all, they raised them in a cult that believes girls/women are to be subjugated-- first by their fathers, and then by their husbands. She supported her sister which says a lot when other siblings have not! I think it’s hard to comment publicly on such private matters as issues with your family. I feel like she wouldn’t really want to but it’s expected of her because of the timing of everything. So she gives a graceful non-answer with things she doesn’t want to discuss and keeps it pushing onto the easier stuff. If she is scared of her dad, I could totally understand why. I think she is very upset about what Josh did and the people he hurt with his choices. She seems like a sensitive soul, though it would take much less than that to be horrified by his crimes.

As a survivor from sexual abuse and physical and mental abuse, I can understand their pain. Don't let the pain win. Tell yourselves I am strong, I will get through this. When the truth came out in my family about the abuse, they turned their backs on me, including my so-called best friend. But I didn't let that stop me. God blessed me with a wonderful husband who saved my life(his name is Michael, by the way. My favorite arch angel is Michael). I have 3 beautiful amazing kids. All of the kids, except for Jill, signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) written by Jim Bob without realizing what it was, and that is why they are so vague about talking about the family in any detail. None of the kids received ANY money from the shows they were on. It was all paid to Jim Bob and he hasn't parted with a penny. Jill goes into some depth about the depravity of how they have been abused financially, and I really think in the next few years Jim Bob will end up doing some time for major tax fraud.

Even as an adult, it's hard to undo the brainwashing one endured as a child, and learning to separate truth from fiction takes a long time. You could learn to have grace for people who have this trauma and especially trauma you don't know or understand.

You can tell she is trying to toe the line and not say anything that would upset her parents, while also not saying anything against Jill. If I remember correctly, there was a segment on the show where Michelle said she was fine with Jinger in pants. That kind of suggests a possible double standard there. Was Jinger doing it ok because she is following very similar Reformed theology? She seemed very much still willing to soft-pedal the Gothard situation, claiming the documentary "missed things we believe(d)". Poor Jill.
