On USA eBay, most Jinhao 100s sell for under $15 USD. I have not noticed a price increase. Amazon pricing around $21 USD. Prices include shipping. I have many & enjoy them all.

Hi Chris! In Europe it is definitely preferable to buy Chinese fountain pens in Ali Express: using discount coupons from the seller or Ali Express it is possible to pay them around 14 euros, depending on the models and promotions. In fact, prices have gone up and shipping costs have also increased. It is a constantly changing market that I hope will have more favorable economic conditions in the future for us collectors.

Hi Garry! I found your review interesting: it is the Jinhao Centennial "snow" model. Purchased for AU $ 25 is a good deal. You are right when you say that the prices have gone up and for us collectors it is really a problem. With these very clear section resins it is preferable to load the ink into the screw converter only, without passing it through the nib. Otherwise then you need to remove the stains from the fountain pen with warm water. Really fantastic this "poppy red" ink, very interesting. Thanks for all!

I have two Jinhao Centennials, one in sky blue and the other in white with subtle rainbow coloring. I’ve only used the blue one thus far, but it writes very nicely.

I have the 100. I have had the Kaigelu and other versions. The 100 has been the best version. I have to find the white resin model. It is stunning.

Garry (especially after I just got a new Jinhao C4 and a new Asvine piston filler, neither of which write very well), your review reminds me just how much I love the Jinhao 100. It is available in such a wide array of colors, making it a great gift pen, and it just writes and writes. I do not think I have had a Jinhao 100 that is on a superior writing pen. I was introducing my brother-in-law in Illinois (a middle line-backer type guy but with an artistic flair too) to fountain pens. He tried the 3 pens I had in a pen carrier. I did not tell him the prices, which varied from well over $100 US down to the Jinhao 100 Centennial. He wrote with the Jinhao last, and exclaimed: “Oh, wow, that is the best writer by far! I really like it! (I ordered him one from Amazon, so he could get it before we left. Now, interestingly, I had a Ranga with a flex nib that I liked best. It is not one of the greatly oversized models, and I love the way it writes. But I carried two Jinhao pens on the trip, and they each did incredibly well. I still rank the Jinhao 100 as the best bargain/quality combination out there. Blessings, my friend! KW

Jinhao and Wing Sung pens are fabulous bargains. I'm sure other Chinese brands are as well, but I don't have any.

I've been fortunate so far, I don't think I've had a truly bad Chinese pen. Some of them have needed to have a bit of work done to get the nibs working as I prefer, but that is a very personal thing.

My JInhao Centennial has an outstanding extra fine nib. The writing experience is just sublime. Maybe I got lucky but the nib is as good, or better than, my pens that costs upwards of 50 times more! I bought a pack of Jinhao 599s and I know that Jinhao has some quality control issues but, IMHO, the #6 size equivalent nibs are at the same level as the standard German brands except for the lack of tip variety. Furthermore, the #8 nibs on my x159s are just flat out great. Regarding the ink staining: lightly colored barrels will show ink color. There's no way around it. When I first started my hobby back I purchased a beautiful and expensive Stipula Duetto with a gorgeous Limoncello yellow acrylic. I was stunned that the ink was staining the section I couldn't believe that a business would be manufacture a gorgeous pen with a resin that was destined to be stained. I felt ripped off so I returned the pen and I nearly quit the hobby. If I purchase a lightly colored pen I realize the consequences. Either I live with the "beausage" (beautiful usage) or I will spend time cleaning it so it better be easy to take apart. Thanks for the review!

I can't deal with stained pens, even though I am generally a slob. Only dark or metal pens for me.

The staining is growing on me. I think the pink that it adds to the pen fetches out the rest of the white. To be honest, going forward I'll only be getting dark sections.

1. The one white pen I have is devoted to Baystate Blue. It isn't very white anymore. 2. I find the duofold an elegant, traditional design. Orange with black trim is my favorite color combo.

I'm going to be going for the dark sections going forward. It was a nice experiment, and the staining is growing on me, but I'm not 100% happy about it.

Thank you for this video! I just bought 2 Jinhao pens! heehee🤗🥰

I don't own the pen, but in the video, it looks like shiny acrylic. I would have thought the stains would come off with a cloth and hot soapy water. I'd really like to know if you managed to get rid of the stains?
@GarryEves Жыл бұрын
The nib unit comes out of the section really easily and then a little bit of warm water washes it away. I have taken to using a blunt syringe to fill the convertor now, and that stops the staining.

Hi, have you ever had any issues with the Jinhao convertors either breaking or failing to suck up ink?
@GarryEves Жыл бұрын
So far I've been lucky with them. Hopefully, that won't change.
