I highly recommend “Dreadful Moments” in a double feature. The official video is a lyric video and it’s one of their darkest songs, but the live version is amazing because you get to see how actually tight and well tuned the band is.

That's one thing I absolutely love about Jinjer. In all of their performances on stage all the members (other than Vlad, obviously) are upfront so all can be noticed and shine. Many bands, whether metal, rock, country, etc. the musicians tend to stand back behind the lead, which kind of forces the audience to focus only on the lead. This is why Jinjer fans, and fans to be, all notice the talent and musicianship of the entire band.

Kinda why I like the drum cam versions of videos... don't really like when they "mute" the rest of the band in favor of the drummers (but I understand the point though).

I think you're suffering from not discovering Jinjer from old albums to the new, a problem most of us have when discovering new bands. Their old stuff rocked, but they really have evolved over their albums. When I first found them I preferred the tracks from Cloud Factory as they were closer to my music tastes at the time... Now I'll happily skip a couple to get to their later albums, which I found harder to get accustomed to but I now enjoy so much more. Their Macro album is superb, as is the Micro EP. Ape (Micro) will be fun. Noah (!), Home Back and Pausing Death (Macro) will be good too - hoping the latter two will get official videos soon.

Don't worry, in a few months you will listen to this song again and think "How the hell did I not enjoy this before?" :D The first half of the song is actually one of my favorite pieces that Jinjer has written. What sells it for me is the insane groove that that the guitar and bass create with their complex start/stop pattern. You can see Tati really feeling rhe rythm during the second verse and I can't help but feel the same. I just have to nod along. Also as the other comments mentioned, Bad Water live from the same show is incredible! That song is super interesting because it is unlike any other Jinjer song. It has ZERO growls in it and it almost feels like a ballad - a Jinjer metal ballad!

I think you're right in the more basic song structure comment for this one, but I speak from experience this one is a grower and after a few more listens I'm sure it will find it's way onto the elusive play list spot. Loving these double reactions! Although there are no official videos for them I highly recommend Dip A Sail and A Plus or A Minus as earlier tracks well worth hearing, even if you just hear them for yourself as a fan. Have you done Who is Gonna be the one live performance yet? I cant remember haha. If not that's well worth a watch too!

I'm kinda binging all your Jinjer reactions, and it's interesting to see that so far you've not been too impressed with the songs from the Cloud Factory album. This song in particular was the song I heard and went, "yeah I need to listen to everything by this band". Songs from this album and the one after are my favourites.

Love Tati's look in this video especially the dress with the glasses. For sure her growls had a higher pitch than more recent performances. The high pitch is also in evidence in Scissors but I still love the older, more raw sound of Jinjer. I did hear that Vlad is their 5th drummer.

It's sad you haven't enjoined much from the cloud factory album, it was a different time but as someone said above that is what happens when you discover a bands newer stuff before their older. They have changed a lot over the years. Cloud factory was a re-release, it hits a lot of groove metal fans. Thanks for the reaction. No hate but it's one of my favorite albums from them. I'm old though lol.
@williamcody34154 жыл бұрын
I listen to the CF cd on repeat. Their old style is perfection to my old ears. also she is the only growling vocalist I listen to. The new stuff took longer for me also. I love Micro (except DM. cant listen to that one song) and Macro is a year old and still not used to all of it. As with most bands, there are songs I skip on each release, except this one. end to end and in order. today music fans are very different and just buy a song here n there or have random play lists. I am older and instead of spending 3 to 5 minutes with a band, I prefer to experience what they took the time to make. 30 to 60 minutes at a time.

Got an alternative suggestion for you Sean. Jinjer have a couple Instrumentals from Micro and Macro albums and also an intro/outro duo on King of Everything album. I've never seen anyone react to these before, primarily as they're not like the other Jinjer tracks (think more like the reggae-styled outro of Who is gonna be the one). It would be really cool and unique to do a reaction to all 4 of them, together. A quadruple feature (they are much shorter)! Here are the tracks: Prologue (KoE intro) Beggars' Dance (KoE outro) Micro (Micro intro) lainnereP (Macro outro - remix of sorts of Perennial) What do you think? 🤔

Great double feature again, brother. I know you really liked Sit, Stay, Rollover. In light if that, I’d recommend Words of Wisdom. An earlier song, doesn’t have the pace of Sit, Stay, but is still very intense with a punch you in the teeth kind of vibe. And the music video and live for Words of Wisdom are both great. For a completely different band, I’d highly recommend Otep. Female lead, with some growls, great band. Confrontation is a great song from Otep with an F U to politicians kind of vibe. Ghost Flowers by Otep is also great, and the song is a journey. Rock on 🤘🏼

It's funny I was pretty sure it will be a song for you depending on the previous song you like. By the way, If you want to try something a bit different, my second favorite band after Jinjer is Megadeth (Holly wars, Tornado of soul, take no prisoner, sweating bullet, peace sells ...) Really different vibe but at the same time, the common point is that their song&music also tell stories with often a deep meaning.

Nice reaction Sean. Yeah this song isn't one of my favorites even though I still really like it. Hearing "older" Jinjer is still amazing, because you could clearly hear that they were gonna be a special band, which they are. Oh one last thing, you missed the Tati "Peek a Boo" LOL 😄😄😄😄 So many reactors who react to this live version miss it. It's about 17 seconds into the song when she faces Vlad, and flashes him, it's hilarious 😄😄 Vlad just joined the band and she was trying to distract him I suppose, but Vlad being the ever professional wasn't fazed, well maybe he was just a little 😄😄😄 Anyhow bro, keep up the great Jinjer reactions, and as always, stay Metal. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶

Good reaction, I get what you say about the first half of the song, it´s all about contrast. Nowadays they do it brilliantly. Still like this song a lot but they have old gems far superior like the awesome "Outlander" failure.color video. You know, it just hit me watching this, since I'm not sure I'd seen this music video before, but... I really think Jinjer should consider going back up to a 5-piece. That rhythm guitar really adds some great intensity, and it allows Roman to do a solo, which he basically never does anymore. It's insane how huge they can still sound with four, but...I think 5 is better. Hell, the same guy could come back, actually. I mean, I get that he left for an acting career, but I doubt his acting career skyrocketed quite like Jinjer's, eh?

Yea I agree there’s definitely an extra fullness they can only achieve with 5.

Everyone doing the live one misses it. lol In the first few seconds she was actually flashing Vlad. At the time he was still new and she was teasing him, trying to throw him off. Couple things to note, this song is not just with their former drummer (the one who broke his spine), but also written as a 5 piece band with a second guitar in mind, so the whole song structure is quite a bit different. In the song Tatiana basically plays the antagonist, a big corporate entity polluting the world and destroying the environment, so this and Who Is Gonna Be The One (a call for protest) are both songs about environmental issues. Are your headphones a bit muddy on the lower frequencies? Because this reminds me a bit when you didn't catch her deep vocals in Who Is Gonna Be The One either. And I think you said like 5 times now, that the next one is going to be Ape. :D

And because I'm still in the mood - I really adore Jinjer and the magic Tati is doing. But she's not the only one ;-) just a few tips: Alissa White Gluz awesome in The Agonist before joining Arch Enemy Alexis Brown from Straight Line Stitch Krysta Cameron from iwrestledabearonce And my all time favourite Karyn Crisis from Crisis / Gospel of the witches.... They all can sing and growl and yeah.... There are many extreme women in metal - I totally ignore all the symphonic metal lead singers like Tarja Turonen, Sharon den Adel etc. which have classical music education and are a bit too princes-like compared to Tati and the other ones.... Aaaaaand keep up the good work!

Lol, I'm opposite. I'm more into 100% growling vocals... so Alissa IN arch enemy... haha and angela before her. Also a lot of death, blackened death and black metal on my playlist. But Jinjer is a nice change of pace. Their talent is off the charts.

Sorry my comments are always so long, I can't help it... This is one of four Jinjer songs that has a guitar solo, you might have noticed that between the time the album was recorded and the live show was filmed they lost a guitarist. In the live version there is no rhythm guitar which makes it sound a little less full, but it allows the bass to stand out more. Their more recent songs do not sound hollow because they were actually written to be played by four people. They have not recorded a guitar solo since. I think it was a mix of Roman not really being a fan of soloing and the band deciding it didn't really fit their style. I miss the solos, but I respect them for their decision and i'm glad they didn't just keep doing it because they felt it was expected of them. I'm starting to notice that this album (Cloud Factory) is not really your style, just an observation. I don't think any of the songs you've reacted to from this album have been home runs for you, but that's ok, Jinjer is a band of many colours, not everybody will like everything. As it happens this is my favourite Jinjer album, but we all have different things that draw us to music. When I say this is my favourite album it's not because I don't think they've improved as a band over the years, they definitely have, they have become much more refined, technically skilled and they have become even more tight as a band. As you said their newer music is much more complex. I love their new stuff too, but this is the album that really speaks to me. Part of it I think is just how loud and in your face the album is, this is the kind of album you blast in your car in lossless audio with the windows down until the people next to you at the light start to get scared. The lyrics also speak to me more so than on any other album, being about social injustice, corruption, greed and the environment. These are the very same subjects I wrote about when I was writing music. I totally get why you like their newer music more though. It's much more complex, every note is deliberately placed, they know exactly when to play what, it's still aggressive, but not over the top and the band functions as one. As a side point, you probably didn't notice, but in the music video the intro is abridged. If you listen to the live version carefully there's an extra 4 bars of drum intro. That is how it's played on the album. Also, in the live version during the pre-solo instrumental Vlad is playing blast beat ghost notes which is his own flare. It is really hard to do and it is not in the original.

I agree with you 100% about Cloud Factory. Musically, their least interesting album; lyrically, their most compelling album. I hope they never lose that political / philosophical aspect.
