Our Rating System:
We are both firm believers that it is unjust to review and rate an album after only hearing it one time therefore our method for reviews is much different than everyone else on KZbin.
First off, not only do you get two individual opinions for each and every album but we actually take the time to listen to each album many times over the course of a week in order to gather elaborate opinions on it. We typically post our First Impressions of the album after listening to it for the very first time and then a week later we post our final review with a score.
Our scoring method is unique to this channel as well. We each rate the album out of 10 but anything above a 7/10 simply just gets our Toe Tag. In order for an album to make it onto the list above it must receive Two Toe Tags. It if only gets one or none then it does not make our coveted list.
Any album that receives Two Toe Tags is considered a top quality album of elite status and highly recommended by both of us. We hope to add an array of metal genres and sub-genres to our list so be sure to Subscribe and turn on Notifications so you will always be in the loop with all the awesome metal we review!
NOTICE: This is not a news/info channel. We are not a KZbin version of Wikipedia for the bands that we discuss. Did you notice the Funeral March by Chopin in the Pausing Death? In that slow section before Tati sings "one day, you're lucky...". And she sings that with the same chords.

I've felt like there were aspects of their older songs on Inhale Don't Breathe and Cloud Factory that had been left behind as their sound became more complex in King Of Everything and Micro. But in Macro I feel like they figured out how to reach back to that simpler sound and bring that forward, but somehow without compromising their complexity. It is really impressive composition.

I think some of their older material sounds different because they have grown, but also because they went from a 5 member band to a 4 member band. Also the albums you mentioned were like 3 drummers ago.

@@timprice5747 Outlander makes it really clear-cut. Still one of their most popular songs. Listen to it and feel how good it feels to headbang to it because it has a steady rhythm that is in the range of speeds that it is comfortable to move one's head. What other song on their later albums feels as good to headbang to, until Judgement & Punishment? The latter has the kind of technical complexity we'd expect from their later work, but maintains that steady headbanging rhythm.

I 100% agree with your Macro thoughts!!! \m/ There are many musical and lyrical ties to the EP Micro. The most obvious is the closing track on Macro. You mentioned one with the shared lyric line in Retrospection and DM. Said lyric line for Retro in the CD booklet are in quotations. Did you guys catch the "bass stabs" with the accompanying "bell cymbal" in the ending of OTT are also in the ending of Teacher Teacher? In The Prophecy the second word is Micro and there is a lyric line " Voracious Ape , MR. Know it All " that of coarse , tie it to Ape. There are more " Easter Eggs ". I won't spoil those possible discoveries for others. : )

It’s impossible to say which song is my favorite, so for today it’s gonna be judgment & punishment. The entire roller coaster of a song that it is is absolutely sic! I love the egg shaker sound effect that appears during Tatiana’s Booya part. No where else on the album will the egg shaker appear so that makes that part in judgment totally awesome. I thought the egg shaker made another appearance on the clean part of home back but it’s just Vlad being masterful on the symbols. Great review guys.

The Prophecy has a snippet from Ape in it also...those were the three obvious Easter Eggs with connection to Micro I noticed on my first listen to Macro...that's including the two you both mentioned....your "review" of Jinjer's Macro album turned into a "reaction" video of sorts...just watching the joy on your faces build up the more you talked about it...it's epic...I give it two thumbs up...I'd give it more if I had more thumbs...hang on 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍and one of these as well 🤘

I agree 100% with you guys. There are different things you pick up with every listen and I feel that's definitely a huge Jinjer trait. I do personally love the album and am a huge fan of the band. My only concern would be introducing someone to Jinjer, this is probably not the album I would pick as it grows and grows upon you, rather than the initial impact of King Of Everything or Cloud Factory, which obviously comes with the evolution of the bands sound as a whole. I just hope that new listeners either do Love this one as much as we do or at least have the patience to check out the back catalogue if this isn't their thing. I do feel that there is something for everyone in Jinjer, I just want the whole world to discover what it is. Great review guys, love your work 😁

King of Everything, as much as I love it and it was the album that got me into Jinjer, is very take it or leave it compared to Macro. King of Everything had a lot of hits and fan favorites, Captain Clock, I Speak Astronomy, Sit Stay Roll Over and Pisces of course. But a lot of the material felt samey to me and a bit lackluster. Like I enjoyed it, but I'm not going to listen to King of Everything in the car. Macro is a 10 for me. I can listen to this shit on repeat for days if I want to. It takes everything that worked off of Micro and expands on it. The way I see it, King of Everything era Jinjer is metalcore with death metal influences, while Macro/Micro era Jinjer is progressive with metalcore influence. And that's a combo that translates well and is way more interesting musically in my opinion. This is best Jinjer album change my mind. Let's have a respectful discussion.

Great review guys! I'm with you... this record blew me away and there isn't a bad song on it! The first time I heard lainnereP my jaw just dropped and I sat in awe for the whole thing. I have to agree with Vile though, in that Home Back is my favourite song on the record. It hits all the right notes for me! Retrospection is a close second but then again, every song on the record is fucking great! I give it a 9.75/10, but only because I don't believe in perfect scores. Album of the Year.

It seems this album brought alot of new fans in and brought alot of hate toward them. I got to hear "Retrspection" live before the album dropped, I'm in love with the intro for that song. It had spots where I was iffy but after a good few days I love it all with the turns. You can really get all vibes from all their previous albums, they really jammed that album with alot of variables so you cant ever get bored! I love it fully and the band.

Great album, definitely one of the better of the year for sure, but holy shit... the new Fit For an Autopsy is possibly one of the best deathcore albums of all time. Listening to that album in full the first time reminded me of listening to Mastodon’s Crack the Skye the first time.... which is now my favorite album of all time. They aren’t the same musically, but the diversity, innovation, and most of all emotion on the two are matched by little. The Sea of Tragic Beasts may grow to be one of my favorites ever lol, like how Where Owls Know my Name did last year
