The guys are super tight and I feel like they do everything identically night after night (though I feel like there may be some changes between the live in Melbourne version of WIGBTO and the official live, but they've recomposed that song at least once already and may have tweaked it more) Tatiana is more of an agent of chaos. She does the growls differently in every show, though the cleans are more consistent. Fortunately, she has very good instincts for what sounds good so she can get away with it. Eugene says she improvised most of the studio recordings on the Macro album. Tatiana's evaluation was less charitable, saying "I wasn't prepared" haha. I don't hear her do things that sound bad, but sometimes she does stuff that was brilliant in just one bootleg or video and it never shows up again in any other recording I've seen. The upgraded stage production for their European tour last year is great, too bad that stuff is presumably now stuck in storage. They used to use backing tracks for the second guitarist on their older stuff, and still for stuff like the vocal harmonies in most bootlegs of Retrospection - though these were not included in the live at. Always happy to share. Dunno if I'd want them to know who I am, I was on what I call "team belies" so if they know who I am they know I was wrong about the lyrics haha.

Dude, they ARE that tight. I saw them last October in a 5-600 person venue. I was on the back wall and at max, 30 feet from the stage. I’m sooooo glad I didn’t talk myself out of driving the 6 hours to see them. I almost did. I almost convinced myself that I’ll see them next time. Little did I/we know what was coming. I also have tickets for this past May in Kansas. I hope I’ll eventually get to use them. Anyway, during the show, all the audio went out for the last quarter of Perennial. They didn’t even pause. I could see them looking at each other, but they kept going. It was kind of cool hearing them lightly strumming and drumming with no amplification. I could barely hear Tatiana over the drums. They’re fucking troopers.

I think we all need to pay respects to the venue in this performance, the Bingo Club in Kiev. This venue played a key role in the success of Jinjer, being (I believe) the only venue in Kiev Jinjer could play at. They cut their teeth here, they gained traction with the help of this venue. In 2014 they won the Best Ukrainian Metal Act here. The Bingo Club went out of business this year due to Covid, this is the last show Jinjer ever played there and now they have no venue to play at in their hometown besides small bars and clubs.

As someone like me, who plays in an amateur band that always had a hard time finding places to play in this small country, it breaks my heart to see a venue close. : ( We were supposed to start recording our next album in March of this year, in a studio 100kms away from home, and by now we were supposed to be "touring" to promote it. I guess I don't need to tell you why none of that happened and at this point we're not even sure if it'll be worth doing next year because by then many of the venues where we could still play will also be closed.
@StickDastardly4 жыл бұрын
Always heart breaking to see a place like that close. Many memories are made, friendships forged and legends born in these places. I really hope we, as a global population, can come together, eradicate this disease and get out there playing and supporting small clubs again very soon!

Man, I missed hearing "Hey F*ckers, it's Daz!". Not complaining though, work comes first. I'm just glad you can still find some time to do this. Personally, when I first hear a song, I just want to experience the song and the lyrics come later, BUT as a reactor I understand to make people happy, you don't have that luxury. I'd think just a quick read through of the lyrics before hand would satisfy most. By the way, thanks for doing this one, as PoC is one of my top 3 Jinjer songs.

One thing I noticed about their live performances is that they very rarely interact with each other or get in each other's face the way some bands do. You don't see much eye contact or any type of physical cues to each other, yet they don't miss a note. Everyone stays in their own lane and they give you a great performance.

Hi Daz, good to hear that you are happy in your new job. It's important to love (or at least to be fine with) that what you do every day to be able to pay your bills. Nice reaction as aleays ! Another recommendation for Jinjer: 'Ape' and afterwards 'The Prophecy' (They're lyricly connected, so the order makes sense) Another live suggestion: Retrospection live in Melbourne And yes, Jeffrey is a walking encyclopedia about Jinjer (and some other bands as well). I really appreciate his comments, too. Cheers !

Thanks so much! I've already done The Prophecy, since it launched soon after I began my journey. I haven't done it's predecessor yet, though. Also, I think I heard that Jinjer are working on an official video for Retrospection. Not sure how true that is but I'll do my homework.

The only additional tracks they use are intros (Sit Stay Roll Over, Words of Wisdom, I Speak Astronomy or Perennial), some guitar parts that Roman doesn't play live because he's doing something else (I Speak Astronomy or Sit Stay Roll Over), random sounds (the clock in Captain Clock, the arpeggio in Teacher, Teacher!) and some tracks for the vocal harmonies. I don't call them backing tracks because they're not there to replace what the musicians are playing on the stage. : ) Don't apologize for the Mayhem reference, everyone who knows something about Metal in general probably has already thought the same thing when they heard the Black Metal-style riff Roman plays in that part. These guys are all music nerds, they have been "absorbing" all kinds of stuff they find interesting about any musical genre or style all their lifes and make it work in their songs like no one I've ever heard. : ) Like 111!
