Roman is easily one of my favorite guitarists. Dude is such a beast. I love listening to his guitar work. He's the most underrated member of Jinjer and probably just in the metal genre in general.

Even to this day, I've had a hard time finding other guitarists that hit originality/technicality/tastefulness as well as he does. I place him and Tosin Abasi in that realm. Not equating the two, but they both hit all boxes for me, which is rare.

What do you need 7 or 8 strings for, when there's SO MUCH you can do with only 6? ; )
@Jorge_Nadal6 жыл бұрын
Module79L Tuning Drop-A, is the same 7 string.
@Module79L5 жыл бұрын
@@Jorge_Nadal - It's not really that simple. To play like this on a 7-string you have to deal with an extra high string that might get in the way of your playing and also you need to adapt to a wider neck, which in most cases might involve adapting your style to deal with the two things I've just mentioned. As far as I can tell, Roman doesn't need that that "extra" string for the work he does and if he is more comfortable playing a 6-string, why shouldn't he? That's why we have these multi-scale beauties. ; )
@КрисДиаз-КрисКам5 жыл бұрын
That's right, a six strings guitar is perfect to play a Drop-A without any problem, it's just a matter of adaptation in my humble opinion!!!
@blahblahsen11425 жыл бұрын
mostly penis extension. you do have some players like Abassi who use all 8, but 90 percent of bands just use it as "look how big my guitar dick, bruh" Honestly one of my heaviest guitars is a baritone 4-string. 30" scale, 4 friggin strings. rarely do i ever run out and think "fuck, if only i had more high strings for that super low-ass riff i just wrote and cannot play"
@7AKV75 жыл бұрын
@@Module79L yeah, totally agree. I have a 7 string guitar after selling a 6 string guitar. And I think my next guitar will be a 6 string one with some THICC strings and that's it. If I will need some djent in my life I will get another 8 string guitar and will use it instead. 6 string is just more comfortable. Not much of a difference between 7 string, but definitely noticeable.

How do you like playing the slanted fret board?
@mswguitar74835 жыл бұрын
Hey @OD Guitars ...can you tell me what gauge strings Roman uses for that tuning? Also, do you have to adjust the truss rod to handle the down-tuning?
@ODGuitars5 жыл бұрын
Gauge is 0.14-0.68 Trussrod adjustment: barely..but that depends on the guitar of course. The neck on an OD is built in such a way that it's strong enough to withstand the tension of the strings and still flexible enough to vibrate well

I don't play any musical instruments unless you count my brutally average playing of the recorder in grade 7. But I have watched enough guitar players to recognize that Roman is right up there with the top guitarists. Most people commenting on Jinjer songs either single out Eugene and Vlad as the most impressive on instruments or at least praise all 3 of them. I wonder if some with untrained ears sometimes think it is the bass playing when Roman is riffing on his guitar or together because the bass sounds quite different almost like a lead guitar more than the usual 4 string bass guitars. Also Roman's strings look looser than a lot of other players guitars. Seems to work nicely to get some different sounds out of it and certainly doesn't slow him down. Can someone tell me what are the advantages of looser strings or disadvantages? I love Jinjer's amazing sounds, style, and that "devil woman." LOL I almost always have to include a joke. :)
