Lucky have seen them twice and they are by far my favorite band. I also over the last couple of years really gotten into Hanabie who killed it when I saw them last fall. Interested in your take on Hanabie.

Both of you had interesting interpretations and I agree. For me the song begins with honoring women who probably had to fight like men, to fullfill their destiny. And like Asaf, I wondered, how it felt for a young girl in Ukraine to leave the traditional female path to become the frontwoman of a Metal band. "Oh brutal world! I’m not your enemy. This role of warrior brings nothing but the misery!" This verse reminds me of a documentary I saw only days ago. It was about the talented French sculptor Camille Claudel, born 1864, who tried to make a living as an artist. "You teach me how to be a man, Though I am someone’s daughter." Interestingly enough her father supported her, it was her mother and also her brother who made her life hell. Finally she gave up, poor, starving and paranoid. "If a woman’s wings are trimmed And her radiance is dimmed, This is over. This is over! You will see her ride a broom." Does that mean, Camille was nuts and behaved like a witch? Or does it mean, people could not help but calling her a witch, trying to keep their world view in balance? At long last, Camille was admitted to a mental hospital. The hospital informed her mother from time to time, that Camille was not unable to reintegrate into the family. But the mother refused and Camille died in this hospital 30 years later. The mother claimed that she had no daughter. I’m so glad, that I was born 100 years later. 😅

I will be seeing Jinjer live in three days. I also saw them live headlining a show last summer. On their current tour, they are playing this song and Rogue from their upcoming album which should be released in about 4 months. As has been said, Tatiana is portraying Marie Curie, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc and an artist who is likely either Frida Kahlo or Georgia O'Keeffe. Tatiana does have a tattoo that is a blend of Frida and Amy Winehouse (more Amy than Frida, in my opinion) so Frida is probably the character. However, the outfit which Tatiana chose looks very much like what Georgia O'Keeffe wore in a fairly well known photo. I paid for the Jinjer VIP which has been capped at 15 people. If I get a chance, I plan to ask Tatiana what painter she had in mind. As for the meaning of the lyrics, this is what Tatiana had to say - "'Someone's Daughter' is an artistic attempt to cast the light on the inner world of women, who in various scenarios and circumstances have had to choose a path that was historically made by men. "In a world where women are often underestimated and overlooked, they are still powerful heroes who navigate hardship with strength and resilience, unapologetically becoming themselves and breaking barriers in the face of the challenges that face them. "'Someone's Daughter' celebrates transition from naivety into wisdom, weakness into force, unwavering determination and fearlessness as our mothers, sisters, daughters and wives walk through adversity and fight for better change. These women are often forgotten but they have earned respect. They've earned mine, that's for sure!"

more likely Georgia O'Keeffe (though Tati has yet to confirm)

@@Double_J_48629 I was part of the small VIP group (only 15 people) prior to their San Antonio show and I was able to talk to Tatiana about the painter character. She said that she was portraying Frida Kahlo. In fact, she had never heard of Georgia O'Keeffe. I showed her the picture of Georgia O'Keeffe wearing the outfit that is very similar to what was worn in the video (she then understood why there would be some confusion) and told her a little about the painter. Hopefully, Tatiana will do a deeper dive into the life and work of Georgia O'Keeffe.

they really outdid themselves with this one. totally stoked for the new album. definitely a lot to work through with the lyrics - i've been working through it since it came out, and she'd definitely painting a complex picture (no pun intended) .... Tati is way too smart for just some stereotypical vapid "Girl Power" drivel.

The characters she plays are examples of women who stepped into traditional male roles. The lyrics are from the perspective of a woman who does that. It's not "feminist" in the modern political women vs men sense.
@NiamorHАй бұрын
Feminism is more about women = men rather than women vs men.
@coder4libertyАй бұрын
@@NiamorH In the modern day politically it's also about women vs men. The point is that isn't what this is about.

Вони можуть себе показати на весь світ.sorry no translation, i'm tired
