I'm so glad you didn't give up on them after your first listen. You're starting to see why so many people love this band so much now. She's so dynamic and versatile and the band as a whole is filled with great musicians. The vocals get easier to understand as time goes on and you become more use to it. Watching some lyric videos will really help because it will help you understand how they're doing the vocals while being able to see exactly what they're singing.

For me, it is a very rare thing that a band can be so brutal but then catchy enough for some pop sensibilities within the same album, let alone the same song. This band is 💯% amazing.

I know what clean vocals are man. There's a difference between clean vocals and pop sounding vocals. I was referring to those clean vocals as sounding pop related. Funny how everybody gets such a hard-on for trying to correct everybody else's speech.

Not quite my favorite Jinjer song, but I think it is their best song in terms of composition, lyrical symbolism and complexity, mix of clean and growling vocals, just a complete package. The video isn't a must-watch IMO, but the official video is really cool too.

Might be my Favorite Jinjer song they even throw in a tribute lyric I think from Pink Loyd Another Brick in the wall, may be accidental but due to the content I think/want to be right. Towards the end when she Sings "I smile to you" and turns to the camera and points, goose bumps for me. JINJER!

I like Jinjer. Musically, the band is tight and inventive. Tatiana's vocals are impressive. I'm not as big a fan of monotone growls, but like Opeth, Jinjer finds a way to use them to accentuate the song, by putting that exclamation point on it.... #Painintheass Riverside Escalator Shrine/Coda

I appreciate ur honest & real reactions. I always enjoy ur videos. When ur listening & reacting to stuff with aggro vocals try to keep in mind that the vocals are that way to display emotions like anger, pain, frustration & angst. They drive the point home of the lyrics. As far as talent & sheer ability go, Tatiana is one of the most diverse & versatile vocalists in all music. Not only females.

Great reaction. This is such a beautiful song, one of the best they've written (if possible!). And like all their stuff, you cant really "hear" it from the first listen, you have to take it in a few times, but then, it's to late; you've been smitten by what is Jinjer, never to recover. (I know, pretty dramatic, but true!) Everything they do is enchanting!

I am glad to see you gave them another chance, and, are warming up to them. Even if you don't love their music, I know you can respect the musicianmanship, and, ability. They're my favorite band now. I'm not even into modern metal, but, these guys are such an amazingly talented group of players, they really transcend genres. They can go from the metal blast beats, to sounding like a jazz/fusion band in the blink of an eye. And, Tatiana is just a genius lyricist, and, such a vocal powerhouse!

Kel, it’s nice to hear your perspective. You’re clearly intelligent and open to growth, which are two wonderful qualities. You two are becoming favorites of mine (I’m skipping the Nightwish reactions though; no offense). 😊 This was a fun watch. As soon as the video dropped, I was hoping you guys might react to it. Rich, I also never would’ve given Jinjer an honest listen had it not been for watching Lost in Vegas react to “Pisces”, which was accidental (it autoplayed after their Twelve Foot Ninja reaction, who is a band you should consider checking out). I later realized I’d already heard “Sit Stay Rollover”, but I wasn’t ready to be open-minded at that point. I just heard blast beats, saw a female singer who sang and growled over heavy music...and I wrote them off. I needed “Pisces” to make me pay attention to them. Now I’m hooked. I love watching others get hooked on them now. 😊

This song reminds me of when I would go to school and Sunday school, they would judge my family by the way I looked...I had long hair, jeans and would wear metal shirts...and my father was the minister...and we moved a lot because churches would kick him out because he allowed me to be who I was, and the other kids would tell me I was going to hell, and I was a sinner, and some kids wouldn't talk to me. Their parents would tell their kids to stay away from me. When I went to school, teachers would always assume I was a trouble maker, even tho I made good grades...I went to a school that was...shall I say...racially divided...and my teacher had an assigned seat for me next to the window in the corner during lunch....the principle even tried to cut my hair....I ran away, and they accused me of skipping school, I just ran down the hall. i was always I the principals office. Thats what this song reminds me of....I was 12 years old....i relate to this a lot...I was very angry for a long time. Later they forced my parents to cut my hair....I was also left handed....and they said it wasn't right for me to be left handed...they did the same thing to my wife...but she remained with the ability to write with her left. They used to tie my arm to the back of my chair so that was forced to write with my right....thats why today, my writing looks like chicken scratch...everyone tells me my handwriting is bad. I can draw, but I cant write very well at all.

I remember those days, I am 60 now and I remember that they kept shoving the pen or pencil into my right hand, my dad would even go as far as telling how he hated lifted handed people. I still write with my left hand. I was always a good kid but, I took a lot of beatings and judgement from my dad. I never did the same things to my kids and they came out pretty well adjusted. This song really speaks to me, I grew up religious and it was not till sage 50 that I realized that I had been lied to by those I most trusted.

I am a hard rock fan, but absolutely hate the "growl" bands. However, Jinjer has rose to my favorite band. I like the mix of the singing and growling. The growling is more of a tool in the song, rather than being the whole song. When you listen to Jinjer's catalog, you can sense so many different styles of music that has shaped their sound. "No shock value"....ok, sure, lol, this is going to be a fun ride together. I've traveled this track dozens of times and its an electric thrill every time for me. The Djent and jazz influences really pack a 1-2 punch of brutality and release reminiscent of relating to authority. Welcome to the Metal, fam. This song is almost a thesis on what it's all kind of about, and you both nailed it without hardly meaning to, which by itself is metal AF, imo. Now a subscriber!

Hey @Warren Hilsbos!!! We are so glad that you found us. We have been having an absolute ball with this band and I’m not sure if you saw our first reaction to Pisces without the visual assistance. We got so much flack for not knowing that it was Tatiana that we had to go back and do a first reaction to the video. It’s listed as Pisces updated in our channel library under up Jinger and is called UPDATED. Please check it out and let me know what you think and use the #UpdatedPiscesReaction so I recognize your response easily and quickly. Thanks for being here and please send any suggestions with the # (name of band) followed by song title so we locate the requests in a more user friendly way for us. At this point, speed and organization are the two keys to being successful. We don’t want you guys to feel unheard or ignored. Again, thanks for spending some time here and we look forward to hearing from you more. Please contribute however you see fit or move to. Rich

I gotta laugh... In metal work at high school I also made a throwing star that... wait for it... got confiscated! At the same time though, the metal work teacher got in trouble for making an "illegal" search. The star was in my wallet and that was in my back pocket. The teacher had no way of knowing a throwing star was in there and no other students knew about it so...

What I got out of the song was the horrors and pain of growing in the Catholic parochial school system. I never was Catholic but, I have talked with friends who grew up in parochial schools. One of my first questions would be were the Nuns really mean and they would tell yes and they would hit you. My guess that just as religions bring out the best in some, it brings out the worst in others. I do love this band and the vocal ranges.

Epica please! "Consign to Oblivion Live at the Zenith", there is a video for it, and then do "Wings of Freedom". I'd also suggest you check out "Black Ninja" by Battle Beast which does have a video as well.

there is 17 years of Epica catalog. Why not Unleashed, Menace of Vanity, Dance of Fate, Blank infinity, Force of the Shore, Another Me, Sancta Terra, Resign to Surrender, Universal Death Squad, Once upon a Nightmare, Essence of Silence, Beyond Belief. im sure they will just Love any one of those just as much. Kel loves the symphonic element so suggest an Epica song that really features that in their music. Consign is just a blast fest meant to close out their shows.

I love this band so much. Tatiana Shmaylyuk is my hero. She's so amazing. There are other metal women singers now who do a similar thing but they are not as cool. So far the other ones I've seen are a little too pop for my taste. That drummer and bass player are phenomenal too. Btw, you two are a super cute couple. :)

While this doesn't have the shock value that Pisces did, this is a really good song and really showcases Tatiana's vocal talents nicely!
