A Teacher should teach you how to think Not teach you what to think. This is the main problem today I think ..They are teaching you how to pass a test
@Flesharrower

Teachers are teaching you how to live within the system, how to get to a desired result so that that result can be pointed to as a statistic that will result in funding. Higher education is the place where you are taught to learn and a lot of kids have problems with thinking for themselves because of their experience of previous schooling. "Teachers" in higher education are facilitators that provide a frame work for your own further education.

@@Flesharrower Yep. As a teacher at the high school level, I need my kids to learn a narrow band of stuff to regurgitate onto a test, or I get fired. I let the kids know that, that I'm supposed to be training them to regurgitate the narrative our society wants from them, and I try to teach them stuff beyond that, but it doesn't change the need to play the game. Blame state boards of education, and politicians who have turned up the role of schools as centers of indoctrination and acculturation for our kids. Most of us get into the field because we're passionate about something, but that doesn't keep us from being tools of a society that wants to turn kids into obedient drones.

this song is not exactly about teachers you find in schools. it's about how society is as a whole in this age of information. the line "teacher, teacher, self-proclaimed preacher" sums up the whole song really well. so really, it's no about teachers at all. it's more about people who spew "facts" they read while lacking actual experience.

The main message of the lyrics is not to believe everything you're told, or to always buy into what you're raised to believe. Basically, the song is about learning to think for yourself and make your own decisions about what is right and what is wrong. Plus, it's just a kick-ass song!

Even now after listening to it for years there's still times I can't understand all the lyrics in a song, but after reading them I can clearly hear it and it seems odd I wasn't able to pick it up to begin with.

""Good evening, kids. Take your seats. Open up your Bibles I’m gonna chastise a rival so keep your eyes wide open The young soul lost control, made her first faul This is my duty to set the bounds She grabbed my hand, took me in, placed me in front of a class She gave a hint I was the clou of her mass I’m in the middle of her Holy of Holies, I have no worries! I saw dusty icons on the walls I saw needles and stones So she put a paper bag on my head She pointed finger at me, and then she said: Dear Lord, forgive me as I’m slapping this sinful child By your hand I’m led so I will show what is wrong and what is right Choose your label cuz I’m mercy, merciful Put your knuckles on the table, meet my friend Ferule Who’ll punish you! When their prejudice let us down We stand firmly on our ground Don’t let their school make a fool of you Because the teachers may be fools too Laws chalked on a blackboard Can’t be erased until it gets boring The lady spoke and then she choked On the convictions oh so alluring She made a pause in her verbal overdose My paper bag slipped down on the floor I took a look around, there was no sanctuary Desks empty, the school was all imaginary Teacher, teacher! Self-proclaimed preacher Under the flag of welfare your lectures start to blare! We need no soap shoved down our throats So keep your monologues unrated and remote I am a bad example of order This life is not a prison and you are not a warden Please, teacher teacher! Leave us alone As we accept life lessons from no one Your idols scream to me throwing shame on my face As I turn away from infamy and disgrace I smile to you, cuz I want you to see How I break the rules in front of your trinity

First of all! This is the most interesting reaction channel of them all, for me, as a Norwegian 50 year old metalhead, for many reasons. You are real! To watch Lex discover metal and how her eyes lit up, her smile and energy. Fantastic to watch. To watch and listen to Brad really trying to understand what is going on are amasing too. For me, when growing up with the new wave of brithish heavy metal in late 70 and early 80s and the evolution into thrash and death metal coming out of San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York and follow up with scandinavian Black metal in the early 90s towards todays music scene with Jinjer, Spiritbox and a lot of other incredible bands. See? As a kid you were drawing devil stuff, and now you're listening to devil music. Satan totally got you hooked! :D The song isn't to bash teachers, but to question authority. Because not everyone in a position of authority actually deserves to be in that position, has it all figured out themselves, or even your best interest in mind. The scenario of the song, about the religious school and presumably even a nun physically and mentally abusing the kids is just an extreme example to bring that point across. When you clicked on the captions button you had that element selected, which means whenever you hit the space bar you activate that same element again, which means when you start to play or pause you active them. You have to click either in the video, on the play / pause button, or on the task bar to de-select that element again and use the space bar for just play and pause (having the play / pause button selected can sometimes cause a double tap but it is an uncommon bug). The instrumental part were blast beats. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blast_beat

For the next Jinjer song? Now I watched you a couple of times,.. I guess "Home Back" could be a good one, an anti-war song (there still is civil war in their hometown), if you like live songs, definitely try "On the Top" or "Pit of Consciousness" (both from Kiev), if you want to feel good, try "Just Another", if you want to make another journey, try " I Speak Astronomy". Then again, if you want to get to the deeper problems of our time, you may experience an angry Mother Nature in "Ape" and a pissed-off Mother Nature in "The Prophecy" (both official videos). Well, that`sat least part of the buffet! Enjoy! 😁🤘

Home Back is powerful. And brutal as befits the subject matter of their hometown getting caught in the war. Tatiana says it "isn't getting bombed anymore" now that there is a ceasefire but no end in sight unless Ukraine accepts Russia's demand to turn eastern Ukraine into a puppet state.

Oh guys, and don't forget "who's gonna be the one", where, like in home back, we can hear the lowest levels in Tatiana's growls.. 🙂 plus, Lex, you can also enjoy some reggae, Jinjer style..

First found your channel when you were reacting to NF, who is my favorite rapper. Those reactions are great, and I enjoy your others too. But there's something about your reactions to metal recently. Metal is my favorite genre by far, and I love these reactions so much. Especially how fired up you get. Lex, you're a metalhead for sure, and Brad you're not far behind. Welcome to the family.

You two are slowly becoming Metal heads. Metal heads are actually really Smart people. We got messages to say our music is really complex but it's deep. It's pure energy and emotion.

I love this song, too. Y'all keep doin' what you do! I'd recommend Vortex next. Tatiana really integrates the growling in a very organic way in that one. It has a nice build to it.

If y’all are in Florida, Jinjer plays west Palm beach a lot! Also, PLEASE do a react to Dance Gavin Dance. Prisoner, Inspire the Liars or We Own the Night would be a great start.
