Even sadder because the real lesson Anshi had wanted him to learn was one of moderation - to not show such open favoritism. Or cunning, to learn to HIDE the favorites so they would not be taken away. Jinshi never learned either lesson.

My mom threw my favorite stuff animal in the trash but I didn’t know why it suddenly vanished until over 10 years later. Even though I was older and let go of it, knowing that she did that made me sad. Theres a small place in my heart that still misses it.

@@Catgirl2021 Man, that's just wicked. I get that "it's just a toy," but it's so much more than that for a kid. It's their friend, and throwing it away is just plain mean. I still have an big basket of stuffed animals, and just because I don't play with them anymore doesn't mean I'm gonna throw my old friends away.

Also my older sisters (they are 8-13 years older) gave away my most of my stuff animals without my permission. It was awful but I got over it but still. I think what they did was worse than what my mom did.

They should've waited until you didn't want them anymore, or at least until they were moving or something and it would've just been impractical to keep them. I don't mean to tell you how you should or shouldn't react to this, it's your business and you're clearly more or less over it, it's just my two cents on the matter.

​@@ivysummers81 I totally understand. Part of me misses it even as an adult. Honestly I felt like my mom should of just kept it stored away until I got over it instead of trashing it. I still have some keepsakes from my childhood that's on display for decoration but I don't have my favorite stuff animal anymore. It was a stuff bunny I named after my oldest sister I didn't see often.

@@zoraackerman1684 I agree, there should be a part 2. For him to look so sad when saying he doesn’t like Mr. Tiger anymore tells me he’s not telling the truth. Even Maomao looks concerned but she doesn’t know what Jinshi said to him. I’m not really blaming Jinshi for the lecture but I also think Xing is like any other kid who would react the same. I remember when my favorite stuffed rabbit vanished as a kid and found out over a decade later my mom threw it in the trash because she didn’t like how attached I got to it. 😢 That was harsh.

I was so happy when Jinshi gave it back but so sad when xingye didn’t like mr tiger anymore. My heart when he cried and Jinshi saw himself. 😭 Also this is random but does anyone know if the empress is allowed to call her son / emperor by their real name? I read the LN and I don’t recall Anshi calling either Jinshi or Emperor by their real names, and it’s noted “only one person” can call Jinshi by his real name.

Probably not, at least in ancient times like this the Emperor’s surname is considered to be sacred and not allowed to be spoken aloud by anyone who is not a direct member, so in the novel they call Jinshi by Moon Prince instead of his actual name.

@@jing6092 sorry I think I wasn’t clear. Basically Anshi is considered to be Jinshis biological mom so a direct family member but I don’t recall her calling him Zuigetsu or even Yue? (Maybe I’m tripping but I think AhDuo referred to him as Yue tho that is a nickname so idk where’s the line). Basically I thought it was mentioned only the emperor could call Zuigetsu by name, and I was a bit sad thinking if perhaps their own mothers aren’t allowed to speak their names.

Yue is kinda Ah Duo's nickname for Jinshi, because Yue means moon, which also happens to be his title.

I mean his mother has an affinity for cats, and if he’s to be emperor, he’d definitely need a good name. Not that I don’t like the name “Xingye”.
