Jio fiber unboxing, installation, Fiber cable, Price, Plans, Performance speed and offers

Finally got the Jio GigaFiber connection at my place. In this video you can see, how the Jio GigaFiber router or the Jio GigaFiber Hub looks, what type of Installation will be done and what are the initial price and plans.
Jio GigaFiber Application
Once GigaFiber is available you can apply for the same. The whole process is pretty fast. I used my Aadhaar card for instant verification.
You also need to pay Rs. 4,500 for installation.
What you will get / Free offers / Plans
You will get is free usage for 3 months as listed below
100 Mbps speed for 100GB data per month for period of 3 months. After that the speed will reduce to 1Mbps you can top up if you want.
After 3 months there will be a plan you need to select will be on monthly basis. For now there is no mention of the plans if Jio is able to install the Jio GigaFiber at many locations then they will come out with some plans otherwise after 3 months I guess they will extend the free usage.
The building I stay in just got the connection and the next building had got the GigaFiber about one and a half years back they are still using free net.
Jio GigaFiber Fiber Cable how is it (check video)
Other broadband providers use fiber but at your home they use cat 6 cable that can be plugged into any router.
However with Jio GigaFiber the whole system is different, here they will install new or replace your old cable. GigaFiber uses fiber cable and the fiber cable is used right up to the router or the JioFiber hub.
There is also a small box the cable from outside enters the box and from there you need to plus the cable from HTB / PON to the white box.
The fiber cable is pretty slim much slimmer than the cat 6. So if you are planing to get Jio GigaFiber now or in the future and have internal cabling then do not upgrade the cable as the cables will be replaced.
Most people would assume that Jio will be using the same setup that other broadband provides are using.
Next GigaFiber installation process
Once the cabling is done and the router or the JioFiber hub is connected the installation guy will connect to jio via their mobile and your account will be generated / he will then give you the mobile so you can add your password once done your account will be setup and ready to use instantly.
You will get the free plan details the 3 months plan and any new messages via SMS on your registered mobile number.
Whenever a new device connects (first time) to router then too you will get a message on the mobile.
Jio GigaFiber router
There is PON port to attach the fiber cable and there is a phone port too may be that will be used for phone in future, plus of the 3 lan ports one will be used to provide TV content in the future. On the router there is 2 x USB ports too.

@@retro19865 Ftth connection is only possible if the bsnl tower is there in your neighbourhood, this is a Govt company n u know how our Govt Co. works, the employees there didn't bother at all. I'm lucky to have fiber to the neighbourhood(fttn), though bsnl outsourced this ftth service to some private company but the mantality is same. N yes the biggest advantage we have over jio is the reliability of speed. We all know how jio 4g wrks.

Actually in the UK, FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) i.e. also high speed Fibre optic connection provides speed upto 80Mbps at a reasonable rate. However, when we talk about Gigabit Ethernet, then it is actually 1 Gbps here which is FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) which is end to end fibre with no copper and the speeds are blazing fast. Somewhere, Jios Gigabit Ethernet service is misleading and is more like a FTTC speeds although I am sure, the system is capable enough to provide FTTP speeds in the future.

Great video. In USA only select places have gigabit fiber. These are new development areas. Older areas still rely on copper coaxial cables which eventually connect to fiber connect points. I have copper coaxial that provides 300 mps.

It is better if you show the connectivity and tv channel working. Because I am using 2 connection in my home, 1 is BSNL. FFTH and another broad connection from Asianet communication. Both having a speed of nearly 50 MBPS only and not providing any tv channel connection. If everything is available in one connection, then that would be better.

no antenna nd those onboard antenna wont give gr8 range currently ian using airtel we i have placed router on 1st floor our home is 90sqrm with three floors and it gives gr8 range for wifi i dnt think it will be there with this type of router wat do u think?

I am using Airtel Optic Fibre 100 mbps & it works great along with free Landline. Best part is we are allowed to carry over unused data. Don't think Jio Fibre will be much of a game changer apart from its initial buzz.
