For anyone who's here for an actual Jiro breakdown, there are a few nice tips that Globku didn't go over: 1) Technically, yes, your opponent can drop out of the BnB if you start with Explosive Soundwave, but this only applies if BOTH soundwaves hit them. If only one hits them, you can still do the normal BnB (check how many hits your opponent has taken before going into BnB to be sure of how many hit them). If both soundwaves hit the opponent and you're close enough to the ground, throw a level 1 instead of the last Eight-Beat Heart for maximum damage. 2) Your opponent will drop out of the combo if you have done 10 Eight-Beat Hearts in the same combo (this is in fact possible, I'll get into it in a moment). However, if both Explosive Soundwaves hit the opponent, that counts as 8 Eight-Beat Hearts for whatever reason (I have no way to prove this, but I also believe that ONE shockwave, naturally, counts as 4 Eight-Beat Hearts) 3) Globku kinda went over this, but the soundwaves are VERY good for eating other projectiles, such as Dabi's fireballs and traps along with Kaminari's zoning-balls. It's a good idea to use it for this instead of just as a zoning tool, but be careful against projectiles like Toga's Needles. The odds of it eating all the needles is extremely low 4) Both supers are extremely good at dodging assists if necessary. From my experience, I've been able to throw a Level 1 when an assist is called on me and deal full damage as long as the first attack hits, even if the assist throws me out of the combo. If it's being called immediately at the beginning, level 2 is fine to use as it will do more damage and meter is easy to replenish. 5) Jiro does in fact have safe block strings in the air and even guaranteed guardbreaks. Do 3 basic melee attacks then throw a level 1. This will break their guard and still throw 1 or 2 hits. If the opponent just-guards the first hit, you should still be able to get an exact guardbreak and combo from there. 6) It's VERY easy to use certain assists to extend combos and be capable of repeating the BnB multiple times. The assists that are best for this are Shigaraki, Bakugo, Aizawa, and POSSIBLY Momo (I've never actually tested it with her, but it theoretically should work; Shigaraki is the best to use for this, though, since he recharges extremely fast). Upon using Explosive Pluck, calling an assist at just the right time (usually IMMEDIATELY when Jiro starts her arc) so that they lock them in place instead of being sent flying by the explosion. You should have just enough time to use basic melee and begin the BnB all over again. If you do this right, you'll be guaranteed to get a stun (assuming you weren't interrupted by an assist) and go into the combo even longer, getting you up to the 10 Eight-Beat Hearts mentioned earlier (while they're stunned, wait a few seconds so that your supports can get more charge and you can keep extending) 7) If you do 3 melee attacks too close to a wall, it's very easy to drop the combo due to your opponent bouncing off the wall. Instead, throw 2 melee attacks instead of 3 and immediately use Eight-Beat Heart to continue the combo properly (this only applies on the ground, this should never be necessary in air). Additionally, if your opponent is elevated when you start a ground melee-string, they need to fall INTO your Eight-Beat Heart in order to take effect, which will happen IF there isn't a wall for them to hit. Use the same logic in this scenario, throwing 2 attacks then Eight-Beat Heart. 8) Don't be afraid to use Eight-Beat Heart to start a combo, it takes away some damage, but it's a GREAT combo starter. 9) Seriously, don't use that yellow attack Good luck in any games you have with Jiro, Sincerely, Rank 2 Jiro on PC
