Try using a sparkplug for the blast nozzle, also beware of media hoses... leaking due to the fast moving grit where bends/turns occur. I worked in a naval shipyard taking care of large sandblasting equipment as well as surfacecraft & subs.

Very nice Sir! :) One modification I'd suggest would be adding rubber sheeting (3mm thick works well) to the internal walls of the cabinet; you'll be surprised how quickly the blast media will eat bare wood, and you'll also have small wood fibres in your media which might carry through and spoil some paintwork (bead blasting is excellent for paint prep!). Keep up the great work!

Very nicely designed and executed. Being an over-designer, I'd make one suggestion: the PVC pipe, once sand is loaded into it, could be heavy enough to require a little more support. The two hinged strap-clamps prevent it from moving laterally, but they do not appear to be designed to support much of a vertical load when used in this manner. If they were, say, mounted to the ceiling and were supporting a horizontal pipe, then they'd support a lot of weight, but not so much when used like this. I propose some sort of wood support, mounted to the leg of the cabinet, that would contact the PVC assembly from below. Obviously this is nit-picking, but I just thought I'd pass it along. I liked your video very much.

I am totally stunned again! There are just no words for your projects! The only thing that I am asking for: Could you please offer links to the material you use for your projects? This is not because I were too lazy to search by myself, but just because I have not enough comprehension for some technical things and thus might buy some parts that maybe look more or less similar but are not similar concerning some important specs. I really, really want to build all your great inventions but I don't want to blow up my workshop (or myself) because of buying some parts which cannot handle the required pressure or so... ;-)

Do be careful using pvc for high pressure air! The intended use of such pipes is liquid (essentially water) if a vessel containing water fails very little damage is done because of the relative incompressibility of water, the results if such a vessel is filled with air are very different & it can result in plastic fragments flying everywhere! It might be sensible to surround your vessel with a metal guard.
@jisakukobo3 жыл бұрын
Plastic supports up to 1MPa. It's safe as long as you use it at 0.3MPa.
@xaviergarcia23013 жыл бұрын
Im thinking he only presssurize the pvc vessel for leak testing,once installed it will not build up a dangerous pressure as it is only a "mixing" container for sand and air wich is taking transitory pressure to blast nozzle when pedal is activated.
@pcka123 жыл бұрын
@@xaviergarcia2301 I wonder if repeat pressurisation and depressurisation might in fact be a bad thing, rather in the way that the early Comet airliners fell apart due repeat cycles of stretching and shrinking?

Great video. I'm assuming that you are using Sch 80 PVC plastic pipe and fittings which ARE NOT rated for high pressure air containment. PVC will exploded like a grenade when exposed to high pressure air. I is only rated for high pressure water. This is why pressurized air tanks are always metal or flexible materials.
@mauricevandelogt75543 жыл бұрын
I don't know what sch 40 is but on the pipe is clearly printed "PVC-U". That is rated for 1.6Mpa (16 bar), he set the limiter on 0.3Mpa. Completely safe to use in this way. Even PVC-C should be safe to use on 3 bar.

- ,The ventilation in the cabinet is not correct. It makes no sense to vacuum the air from above with a vacuum cleaner. It is necessary to install a centrifugal filter of the Cyclone type exactly under the grate, and supply air from the top of the glass. Then all the dust will be pressed down by the clean air and will not interfere with the view.

Btw, who said he wants to "run it all day" as you said? It appears to be something he'll use on smaller parts as shown hence the size of the media container, compressor, etc. It's odd that the video shows it can "blast continuously at the rate shown" while you're saying it can't. smh
@DanKoning7773 жыл бұрын
@Y T // Of course you don't want to talk about "nozzle" size which was one of your main points b/c it shows you're error. Fyi I never brought up "hose size" only the nozzle which terminates at 1/8" or less b/c that's what controls the vast amount of volume of air flow. Also, the small nozzle opening does not require a large tank or amounts of CFM to function effectively on small parts. Btw; please look up "civil discourse." Have a nice day.
