song: Jisas Yu Holem Hand Blong Mi composer: Hans Zimmer date: 1998 movie: The Thin Red Line, by Terrence Malick

This inspired song was written in 1990 by Benjamin Tekulu, one of my students at King George VI School in Honiara and was recorded at the SIBC studios in the same year by the KG6 King's Kids. Sony Pictures paid Benjamin a modest fee for using the song in the 1998 movie "The Thin Red Line", although obviously the song was not yet in existence in 1943 when the movie was set. Since that time the song has become popular worldwide with Solomon Islanders but the songwriter is largely slated as "unknown" - just thought I would correct that.

Thank you Aaron for that revelation. It is only befitting that such an inspirational song should have an owner. The words of surrender are pure and unconditional. Then the melody humble and at peace with the world ... made forever heavenly by the talent of Hans Zimmer... Thank you

When I hear this I imagine the heaven. One of the most sentimental piece of music I've ever heard. When I listen to it my imagination brings me to the time when I was young, the times when you have to do nothing, you worry about nothing -> fantastic times. Please, wait a while and wonder if you read this. If you had were in his shoes, I think you would have chosen the same way as he. The brutal times of war when you notice that there is no reason to figth with people who wants to live as you want, so you join to them (in the heaven on earth). I understand and completely get into his way of thinking. This film was so much than show of history of some man. This was about inner change. Im glad Im living in such times that I can watch history of person (haven't to live it on my own) that have courage to do this. Respect to every one who read this to the end. Peace. Bye :)

People either love it or think it’s boring because they don‘t understand it or seek rather easy entertainment. However, those who like it tend to never forget it and keep returning to all these philosophical questions and themes you hear throughout the movie. It is a piece of art, not a typical movie.

It's not actually an official song on the soundtrack album - just a mishmash (or possibly the line-by-line score) of Zimmer's original 4 hours of music put together by Terrence Malick during the post-production editing. Either way, this segment of end-credits music never made it onto the official soundtrack :(
