Jitters is a 1999 (Petrol Engine) Peugeot Boxer Autosleeper conversion - a 'Symphony' model! She may be FAR from the most 'Instagrammable' van but she is full of quirk, character & is just damn perfect inside... we LOVE her!
After 9 months of full-time van life, we are excited to share the full VAN TOUR of JITS AND HER VINTAGE BITS! 🚐💫
Jits has EVERYTHING... a separate indoor shower & toilet, a dual-gas hob, grill & oven, a mini-fridge & freezer as well as LOADS of smart hidden storage. Her modular design allows us to transform the living space from bedroom to lounge, to office, to dining room... large enough to host 4 people inside COMFORTABLY.
Jits belonged to Adam's mum, Sally, who sadly passed away in Jan 2019 from ovarian cancer. During this time, we were reminded how life is too short and felt inspired to take the plunge & pursue our dream of full-time van life.

My wife and I did the same thing some 23 years ago in the exact same van. We spent 2 yrs on the road doing the majority of Europe, Russia and got as far as Turkey and north Africa. I wasn't called van life back then and we didn't meet many other none retired van travelers, KZbin has certainly helped promote this type of travel. Enjoy your trip.

For a 1999 camper it was way ahead of its time! Thumbs up to your mum for keeping her in tip top shape, god rest her soul. They certainly do not make them like that anymore! And the fact that you guys can use that bathroom door to close of a section for private use is awesome! I have not see anything like that. Remember it’s a 1999!!!! Awesome video guys! I know. It's so much more comfortable and clever than the boxy convertible seating you see in modern camper vans.

@@meowzic Yes, but unfortunately I cannot find one 18+ years old Auto-Sleeper with this kind of configuration in Continental Europe - where we are living - with left hand drive. I think these vans were a bit shorter and because we'd like to visit cities too, it would be far better than with a longer one. So it seems to me that we'll stuck in our caravan, which is quite good, but to make a several months tour in Europe such a tiny van would be the best choice I think.

I love how you showed Tanya sleeping while Adam was working. We all know it’s the other way around 😂😂😂 I love the bathroom, it must be a joy to wash your hair, pits and HooHah after a long, sweaty, day hiking. And not having to find an appropriately positioned hedge in the middle of the night is a game changer. Adam ‘and that’s the only mirror we have. Except the other one’ 🤣🤣🤣. The ‘In loving memory of Mum’ actually made me tear up! She would be so proud of you taking Jits on more adventures. I am still stuck at home due to the evil COVID-19, scared to go out as I’m 57 with asthma and high blood pressure, but you guys are freeeeeee 😁 Go on adventures and share them with me. One of the best van tour I've ever watched!! Loved it so much 😍 Makes it so much more special that you guys inherited Jits from Adam's mum. I especially loved the stop animation style section to show how the bed gets made up...very clever and made it easy to see exactly how it's done, whereas other van tour videos I often leave not really getting to see how they do the bed conversions. I've been searching for ideas to have a bed at the front side of the van , kitchen and bathroom at the back because its more secure to have a bed in the middle in case of any kind of road accidents/impacts . I watched many videos but yours is the most practical, minimalistic yet spacious and the best concept. I'm blindly going to follow this van build . Love from India ❤❤❤❤❤

Made it to the end. Have no interest in getting a van, but we’ve had RVs for near 30 years and plan to be Fulltime in ours in a little less than 2.5 years. Have never seen this van model. Very impressed with the design and use of space as well as the fact that it is still in great shape 20 years later.

I like the way the back doors open, good for ventilation and also because the kitchen is to one side of the van you can use the space to carry very large things down the middle fo the van .

Love the tour! Very smartly laid out! I would get a fire extinguisher to go with the fire blanket. I would also move the carbon monoxide detector near the floor as it’s heavier than oxygen and drops down. I would also install a security system, as many vanlifers have gotten robbed. What an awesome video! Thanks for sharing!

Excellent advice. Carbon Monoxide falls and floats along the ground, by the time it is detected at a height its often done it’s damage. Change that now guys.

Amazing the amount of thought that goes into maximising space in such little vans. We have a 19.5' Hymer Aktiv on a Dodge Chassis (made in Canada - we're from the East coast of Canada) and love our little tiny home. We are not full timers and have only owned it for a year. We did spend 2.5 months travelling all over Florida in the US this winter til Covid drove us back home. Last summer we travelled all over Atlantic Canada with "River" (name of our van). We were hoping to travel around Newfoundland this summer but that's been put on the back burner. Loved your van tour. When you had the back doors open, I noticed you had a very blank back wall. Many North Americans take advantage of that space by adding 3M hooks and hanging items (broom, hoses, tools, jackets, knapsacks etc). Love your videos! Beautiful photography!

What a lovely video! Your Mum made a great choice with Jits - way more space and much easier to live in than a VW, yet still compact enough to go anywhere (a real advantage in some Portuguese old town centres, as you must know!) I first lived in a van as a student in the 1970's and have looked at many hundreds since - but have long thought the Autosleeper Symbol takes some beating. Guess it's the ES (Extra seat) model? - which gives even more flexibility. BTW - could the mugs be Autosleeper's original crockery? - as their vans always came complete with crockery and glasses. Nice to see young travellers relishing vanlife in something different from the usual 'cool' vehicles. I'll watch out for you in Portugal - Happy travels!

Wow. I can't get over how much room and storage space there is in Jits. Space is so we'll utilised. Looks super cost for the winter but then enough windows and vents for air in the hot water. Who needs a fancy motorhome. Jits has everything 😍😊

Great video guys! We have an 04 Symbol - almost identical to Jits. One recommendation would be to change all the lighting to LED. I used 14" units which were about £30 each. Not cheap but they use a fraction of the power of your existing. Also, I swapped out the fridge for a 12v compressor one. My 120w solar will provide more than enough to run it. No more mucking about with gas, which is great. Also, I got the van chipped. Power is up from 85hp to 115hp. It is brilliant. Actually uses less diesel but means no more changing gear for every little hill.

Great things come in small packages, like Jits!! She's one of the smallest campervans I've ever seen and yet is the most efficiently designed. Most vans on KZbin are much younger and bigger, but have much less in them. Like Adam's mum, she's smart, efficient, has an adventurous, loving spirit, and has everything you need. 🥰 Beautiful and well executed van tour guys! 🙌🏽🙌🏽

I recently found you, I own a trendy T6 pop top known as Sally. (Sorry Adam couldnt help it). But I love the way this van covers a more permanent van life. Sally couldnt cope with us being in her 24/7, she likes some breathing space down the storage site to chill out with other camper buddies. However, I wouldnt usually comment, but the finale of this video caught my eye - I am sorry to hear that your mum is no longer with us Adam. She clearly knew what a decent van needed, and didn't spare any expense to make it happen. I see the positive that Jits lives on in her memory as an extra special incentive to spread the word of how positive a van life can be. Best Dave

This is the best van tour I've seen - also great to hear the English language so well spoken. Lots of the features in this van were also in our caravan - just had more space for another bed etc. Thank you for sharing this....I really enjoyed the tour. Enjoy your travels. My husband and I travelled widely with our two sons in Europe in our caravan and we got to see places we couldn't have afforded to visit without the van. How did I miss that you’d posted this?? FINALLY we get to meet Jits properly and what a clever van she is!!! Her versatility and fantastic use of space is mind-blowing!! As you know, I’m just starting out on the conversion of a much larger vehicle, but there’s so many clever ideas in Jits that I can’t help but be inspired to maximise my use of space, even though I will have a lot more of it to play with! Hi Ellie 🌼 We’ve had other people suggest more solar panels but luckily we have been absolutely fine with the one we have (even in Scotland and Ireland during winter would you believe!) It powers up both our laptops no problem and apart from lockdown, we have managed to stay completely off-grid. We generally avoid campsites, it saves us money, it’s closer to nature and as you say, it’s far more eco friendly 🌱 🌟 xx Tania

Hi Tania &A dam Yes we bought a. Cheep 2003 Ford campa End of july this year . Not has well fitted out has yours but okay for us. We did Yorkshire East Coast WITHERNSEA. HORNSEA. SCARBOROUH.WHITBY. & GOATHLAND . WHERE THEY FILMED HEARTBEAT. Then in August we did West Coast of Wales. RHYLl. LLANDUDNO. ANGLESEY. BANGOR. CONWAY. Then Late September . Love the van, love the tour. Well designed lay out. We are half way through a build. Again compact but practical. I have an old fiat scudo that I cut the body off and now building from the floor up. It will be 8 foot long, 6 foot wide and 6 foot 2 inches tall inside. It will have a 310 watt solar panel powering 240 amp hours of battery's, instant hot water boiler, refillable gas, recycling water system, rain water catcher, vented composting toilet and a shower. Cant wait to get on the road. Enjoy your travels and stay safe

I fully agree - everything is there for a purpose and not just to look fancy. It seems that back then technicians and craftsmen were allowed to do whatever they wanted as long as the result was to the users benefit. Most of today's RVs are designed to impress and obviously very often the people who do the design never really test the products themselves. Amazing to see how such a small vehicle offers clever solution you won't find in any of today's camper vans. If it was back on the market tomorrow, I would be the first to buy one. You mom was absolutely right!

You quickly realize that you can get along with very few things around you and that everything that really matters is what money can not buy anyway. In fact all the things we own (being a home owner myself) have a tendency to keep us busy all the time. Always a lot to maintain or to worry about or keep tidy. I love the learning curve of the said video I am obsessed with the idea of a VW transporter or boxer . Which is your chosen vehicle . I so want something ( pre- loved ) the new ones ( appear to be ) . a bit flimsy. Just like the new kitchen ( just installed). All show but no real practically.
