Great observations. Your ability to just tell it like it is, is respected and appreciated. One blue belt to the next. Keep the videos coming.

That pendulum sweep you has a perfect setup for an arm bar since your leg didnt kick back the other way. Just something I noticed ;) Great videos though! Keep em comin!

0:37 right there I would've went shin to shin guard and swept him since shin to shin is a very good counter for knee sliders. You should look up Michelle Niccolini if you aren't already familiar with her. She's a specialist at shin to shin/spider guard.

Great channel. I'm getting back on the mats soon. Took time off. I think I'll record and observe like you are doing. Great different perspective.

Dude the shit that brown belt was doing is like the exact game ive been working, attacking armbars and triangle and transitioning between the two. ive been working that spider guard triangle too. Then we drill that armbar to omoplata all the time too, but the person jumps over, mounts amd you continue the drill. Awesome stuff, i really enjoyed this video

Matthew Van Helden Eventually I want my game to be one with options too. Honestly I think that's the best way to go too. I like that triangle to omaplata a lot to be honest!

I like to think of Armbars, triangles and omoplatas as all being "neighbors on the same street". The same way with d'arce, anacondas, and guillotines. You can string multiple transitional attacks between all of them depending on how the person reacts. Some out of the frying pan and into the fire type stuff. Setting traps at every turn lol. Really enjoy your videos man. Keep up the good work.

I wish that I had the forthought to record my rolls. I need to see what I look like rolling I know that would help. I couldn't do the warmups I recorded myself doing it and could do it when I watched myself. Where do you train man?

I've been throwing hella Ezekiel chokes lately. Like that blue belt at the end, the second I have an arm wrap behind their head I immediately reach for my other sleeve to go for the choke. Like me, you look like you have long arms and can probably catch it from less advantageous positions. Like from them getting mount or from bottom side control. I might not always catch it, but try to threaten with it often as it can open up opportunities to escape. Same thing with threatening with d'arce chokes to prevent the guard pass.

I like your narration and the way you analyze your rolls. As a very humble brown belt can I give you some advice? Focus on pressure and learning how to make yourself feel heavy.

I'm way late to the party but @7:58 it's like half a knee shield just angled upright instead across the chest And the part where he went right into the omaplata looks to be a lasso set up and to me the mistake you for that was letting him have wrist control on the side he attacked, though I'm sure someone else has pointed it out to you in the comments/gym

You get in head first when you try to pass. Try keeping your posture going in.

One of your major problem is leaving your arm way too out.You need to have them t-rex arms by your side.Could have attacked his legs first then try to move up the body.

Dude honestly you roll like you went to blue belt way to fast. I guess some gyms hand it out early to keep you from quitting.

It's hard to make that judgement since he's going up against a brown belt. A brown belt will dominate a blue belt and make it look like the blue belts first day.
