@@zoelundy6121 I have seen it a lot. Once my friend beat one of those and the dude came over and asked, how long we had been doing BJJ. He himself had been training for 6 years or so, so he couldn't believe it. He was fighting in the white belt devision.

Strange referee. The guy is on full mount for ages and the ref doesnt move them into the middle. But when the bottom guy makes a move, he stops them mid air ...

Thanks for the comment! That's why when we moved back in the middle, I was confused why we didn't start from full mount. I stopped my movement when I went out of bounds and while the bottom guy was still moving, the ref stopped me.

I actually applauded watching this! I was thinking about getting into bjj but am concerned about injuries as my line of work requires physical effort (flood and restoration). Good on you guys who get into this awesome martial art!

It's pretty low risk if you're training with casual people. Lots of older guys with physical jobs at my gym. I haven't gotten injured but often sore muscles same as lifting weights.

It depends on the guy youre rolling with. If its with a respectful guy you shouldn’t worry about injuries… but some dudes can be very dirty and attempt to break your limbs.

Welcome to the Bjj life! You’ll be surprised at how much you would have learned in 5 months of consistent training. Definitely wait until you feel comfortable. Tournaments are a great way to test your skill against people in the same level

@@Lattes_Little_Family Damn nice, twice in a day!? I do 3x a week. I plan on competing as a white belt later this year. Any tips? I do 1 hour training sessions. 40 mins drilling, and 20 mins rolling. I've been doing bjj/muay thai for 3 months now.

@@Slickhuman tournaments are a great way to test how you fair against other white belts. Go with that expectation since you never know what level of white belt you’ll be facing the very first round. This was a smaller tournament then something like the ibjjf I did after this one. Good luck!

Because it's a submission only tournament, after the first 6~7 mins, the ref gave each of us different positions to try to submit.

John Paddington Because white belts don’t know as much. They are limited in their tools so they become over aggressive and try to muscle through things rather than use technique

@@matthewa2095 Thanks! I did recover and looking to get back to training soon. During a roll, I felt my rib pop and I didn't think too much about it. It was sore but I returned to train after a weekend of rest and injured it more. It was a hematoma on my rib so if I had rested for a few weeks I would've been fine but since I rushed back to train I had to rest for several months

mra1532000 in the beginning we had to restart when we went out of bounds. Late in the match we were in overtime so we were each put into an advantageous position to try and submit each other. If the other person escaped that position, it would be up to the next person to try

I mean my coach won 2 tournaments only knowing how to do a key lock so if he can succeed only knowing 1 sub this guy will be alright not knowing a guard pass, not forever but for like a tournament.
