Seems like JJ was having a little cheeky dig at Gary when discussing song writing royalties. Love the fact that The Stranglers shared the fruits of their success equally. A valuable lesson to a lot of other bands👍

One of the best if not the best interviews given by JJ I’ve ever heard…Legend in Black…

Great interview, Nice for JJ to be allowed to talk and answer, relevant questions. As he said more the guys were more professional than most journalists. Well done and thanks

Absolutely brilliant. Loved it. I was thinking towards the end how its so much better than Journalists doing it because its relaxed and non judgemental, then JJ says as much. Please please keep these coming

I first seen the stranglers live in 1979 and I was completely blown away by the energy, the bass and the keyboard's they were totally awesome. The last time I seen them was 2022. I feel truly honoured to have seen them live well over 100 times I've met all of them personally....j.j a couple of times in HMV store where the stranglers played in BIRMINGHAM city centre to promote written in red and about time. He came across as a great honest guy when I spoke to him. I also met hugh while he was playing in walsall to promote his book ..song by song Hugh also came across as a decent guy. I briefly spoke to baz outside the O2 in BIRMINGHAM as baz and Dave was entering the side of the building before they played at the venue later that night. I've seen many a live band but my honest opinion.....they never even came close to the stranglers, and believe me they are superb even today. I've been collecting stranglers t.v appearances, live gigs everything since 77 that I transferred on to DVD and I have what I believe is the biggest stranglers DVD collection out there , that I never get fed up of watching over and over again. One day and one day soon there will be no more stranglers and what a very sad day for live music that will be.

Is JJ mellowing towards Hugh? sounds like it. As you said Guy, JJ a massive influence with the low slung bass etc with Simenon, Hook adopted. Always loved that avacado coloured one he had in the early days

Proves the point musicians are the ones required to interview musicians. JJ always seems a little too reserved in many interviews but here appears more comfortable. Excellent work.

Could have done with a bit more technical discussion about his sound, style and technique. Such a unique and iconic sound.

Great band, anarchic , anti establishment, sadly fell for the social engineering project , hook line and sinker. Very disappointing.

Very very disappointing, especially JJ who has always prided himself on being anti establishment. He fell for the bs like the rest of the sheep. It actually changed my view of the band, once an avid fan, I actually can't help holding the entire band in contempt.

@@Blonde_Somnambulist sad but true. Its hard to believe that so many who were once so sharp and questioning of authority just went along with it all.. and of course got covid anyway.

@jnyfumare yep!, I was astounded listening to JJs and Baz lockdown podcast, calling anti vaxers dangerous , spewing the same main stream media propoganda. Just goes to show that the real warriors don't shout( and sing) about it, they quietly do something about it. My respect goes out to all those nameless men and women, who worked tirelessly to arrange the million man lockdown marches ( never shown on corrupt media) and who put their jobs on the line warning the world about covid vax damage. The Stranglers are now consigned to the attic, boxed up and never to be heard again. For them to hold the REAL ANARCHISTS, FREEDOM FIGHTERS in such contempt is a joke, they have become nothing more than a shadow of what they once were.

Maybe a by product of their success. 'out of touch'. It does take their edge away... A great interview all the same and an interesting look into that golden era of fantastic music !

48:22 Scotland was sold off by a few of the Elite in an arranged marriage, the people had no say. This being one island is a very poor understanding of the very different culture we had, and the English one imposed. Scots had the family names changed as the stupid English could spell nor translate, had our lands stolen, had family member burned in their homes, etc, etc, etc. It was an attempt at genocide, and that is no exaggeration. Look at Scotland now, more broken than ever, all thanks to Westminster... and yes, the Devolved Scottish Government was designed with all the limitations built in by Westminster in the hope of failure. As for Europe, where does that begin and Russia end? Where does France begin and China end? That's how silly the argument for Scotland remaining part of Britain is. Why shouldn't Russia rule France, Germany, Sweden, etc? Scotland has absolutely no democracy so long as it remains under Westminster's misrule... that is, a government voted in by England dictates what Scotland should do. That is not humane in any way. We are the ones who would have had all the wealth from oil, etc. Westminster blew it with absolutely nothing to show. Scotland would have been like other sensible oil rich nations. We would have been way ahead in the development of new technologies for electric generation, etc, (even though we are, but still held back by Westminster). I rest my case.
