Bought it a few days ago. At first when I drank it was like a slap in the face, overwhelming in flavor from start to finish. As i keep drinking it it just grew on me.

I like an Arrogant Bastard from time to time, but it's just a little too hoppy and forward for my taste, might be because I'm not a huge IPA fan. I'm usually more of a Stout guy. But it's still a good beer on occasion with a friend or two.

@gsboss Well it really depends on the style. But if you are talking about your typical lager and a brown ale then the Ale will be sweeter.

nice honest critique of the Arrogant Bastard Ale; However, I found it to be a better beer the closer it got to room temp. im starting to realize that COLD does not always bring out the complex flavor in some ales. I found this one good at medium temp and with a well seasoned steak!!! keep up the good work joe

I tasted the same thing, alcohol bitterness with slight hints of caramel malts. I actually got an expired bottle of it though. It was about 2 weeks beyond the expiration date. I would think a fresh bottle of this stuff would have a much sweeter flavor. I'll have to try it again in the future. 79 out of 100 from me.

tastewise, whats the difference between the lighter beer and darker beer? cause i have only had one dark beer and it tasted horrible but the lighter beers tend to be smoother. i have better luck with the lighter ones for some reason

My local brewery/bar/restaurant had this as their guest beer a while back and because of the name, I ordered it. Cant say I like it, too fruity, spicy, strong for my taste. But they said, I probably wouldnt like their beer and they were right. Seems we agree...

I wouldn't say it's a bad beer but wow, 98?? There are other ales that I like more than this. For starters, I would say Dead Guy Ale, Fullers 1845 and DogFish Head India Brown Ale are all better than this. However, I do like their smoked porter a lot, Stone Smoked Porter is one of my favorite beers. Check it out if you get a chance to.

I've had this in both bottle and cask, and I never really cared much for it or its pretentious comments and fans. Its just overwhelmingly hoppy with little malt sweetness or deph to balance it out, and its intense bitterness makes it harder to identify the non-bitter hops flavors in the brew. As for 2 hearted, I love that brew. Haven't had lost coast Indica yet,but Id probably enjoy it more than AB but then that's just my opinions. Different beers for different folks Cheers!

I was not a big fan of this beer after all. The warmer it got the more I didn't like it. With that said I am going to revisit this brew sometime this year.

The Double Bastard is a seasonal (winter, in this case) release and is not brewed again until the next year. 2008 would be very hard to find right now (I only have one bottle left, sadly). For 2009 you'll have to wait til November. Double Bastard is incomparable, imo.

What you're really tasting is the strong hops, with like a slight piney flavor and mix of citrus. This beer has one of the stronger hops in it, that's why they have that "arrogant" attitude, haha.
