The intro was great and I burst out laughing. This really is the election to give up strategic voting. I’m for Maxime Bernier and I don’t care if it throws my vote away. It wouldn’t have to if we abolished first past the post like we were bloody supposed to. If Maxime could promise that one policy, a ranked ballot system, then he could be on track to take many many more seats

Rambo Jon J Singh is one of them and therefore can’t be taken seriously. Everywhere he goes and talks it’s a circle jerk of thankyous and hugs and extreme respect for every single individual and it’s all so artificial. Andrew Scheer is much the same but he doesn’t have the cult following that will waste 20 minutes of the start of his press release. He’s just a creepy robot guy too. The state of these parties sickens me. For once I’d like someone who’s real

AGENDA: 1979 campaign Government: The Queen of Canada would be seated in Buckingham, Quebec.[16] Rather than awarding money as prizes in the lottery, the winners would be appointed to the Senate of Canada.[16] Rather than patriate the constitution by bringing it to Canada, as proposed by Pierre Trudeau, the Rhinoceros Party pledged to bring Great Britain home and make it Canada's eleventh province.[17] Energy: Building one nuclear power plant per household, including monthly distributions of lead underwear to Canadians. Indoor lighting would then be provided by radioactive citizens.[18] Burning all the standing barns in Canada to provide energy, under the slogan Burn a barn for Britain.[18] Gender issues: Alimony payments would go directly to the federal government, and responsibility for withholding those payments would fall upon the federal government.[18] Men would be allowed to work as prostitutes, wet nurses, secretaries and receptionists.[18] 1984 campaign Economy The Rhinoceros Party pledged to eliminate small businesses, and replace them with very small businesses, having less than one employee.[19] Candidate Graham Ashley, standing in Ottawa-Vanier, pledged to take Canada off the Gold Standard, and implement a Snow Standard, which would improve the economy until the summer.[20] Public works Candidate Stardust the Magician promised to put a roof on Olympic Stadium, using only a $25 million handkerchief.[21] Other campaigns Other platform promises of the Rhinoceros Party included: Repealing the law of gravity[22][23] Providing higher education by building taller schools[14][24] Instituting English, French and illiteracy as Canada's three official languages[14] Tearing down the Rocky Mountains so that Albertans could see the Pacific sunset[23] Eliminating unemployment by abolishing Statistics Canada, thereby eliminating the bureaucrats that measure unemployment.[25] Making Montreal the Venice of North America by damming the St. Lawrence River[26] Abolishing the environment because it's too hard to keep clean and it takes up so much space[14] Annexing the United States, which would take its place as the third territory in Canada's backyard (after the Yukon and the Northwest Territories-Nunavut did not yet exist), in order to eliminate foreign control of Canada's natural resources[27] Ending crime by abolishing all laws[28] To provide more parking in the Maritimes and to create the world's largest parking lot respectively, paving the Bay of Fundy and the province of Manitoba [14][23] Turning Montreal's Saint Catherine Street into the world's longest bowling alley[14] Amending Canada's Freedom of Information Act: "Nothing is free anymore; Canadians should have to pay for their information".[29] Making the Canadian climate more temperate by tapping into the natural resource of hot air in Ottawa.[29] Storing nuclear waste in the Senate: "After all, we've been storing political waste there for years".[29] Adopting the British system of driving on the left; this was to be gradually phased in over five years with large trucks and tractors first, then buses, eventually including small cars, and bicycles and wheelchairs last.[16] Selling the Senate of Canada at an antique auction in California[23][27] Putting the national debt on Visa[30] Declaring war on Belgium because a Belgian cartoon character, Tintin, killed a rhinoceros in one of the cartoons[24][31] Offering to call off the proposed Belgium-Canada war if Belgium delivered a case of mussels and a case of Belgian beer to Rhinoceros "Hindquarters" in Montreal (the Belgian Embassy in Ottawa did, in fact, do this)[24][31] Painting Canada's coastal sea limits in watercolour so that Canadian fish would know where they were at all times[26] Banning guns and butter, since both kill[26] Banning lousy Canadian winters[14] Building a bridge spanning the country, from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland.[32] Making the Trans-Canada Highway one way only.[32] Changing Canada's currency to bubble gum, so it could be inflated or deflated at will.[33] Donating a free rhinoceros to every aspiring artist in Canada[27] Counting the Thousand Islands to see if the Americans have stolen any[12] The Rhino Party also declared that, should they somehow actually win an election, they would immediately dissolve and force a second election: "We Rhinos think that elections are so much fun, we want to hold them all the time".[34] They also declared victory after one election, claiming all candidates were Rhinoceroses, whether they knew or acknowledged it: thick-skinned, short-sighted, mean-tempered, etc.

Derek, they dont have a real economy and they suffer from an abysmal growth rate like 1 or 2 percent. There's only 37 million and they are soaked in taxes like 50% income and then in Ontario like a 14% consumption tax. Once i looked to market to canada and when i bought the list it only had 9 million households....i thought something was wrong, like they only provided 1 province. Nope, thats the whole damn country. What canada has really become is a nation of social workers.....the lack any other national brand and i think with the historical proof that socialism suffers from shrinking markets in a few years the 1st province will vote to leave Canada and become a state. After that the whole counrty of canada will dissolve. Remember that British set up the country and made the Indian treaty as a buffer to stop america expansion.....its why canada exists and since british powere has wained since ww1 to 0 today.....these only one thing left, become states.....it solves all there self made problems.

Not a fair or accurate portrayal of Bernier. Bernier's PPC has accomplished in one year what the Green Party took 35 years to accomplish: a candidate in every riding, and 3% in the national polls. In one EKOS poll, the PPC polled ahead of the NDP in Ontario. A fringe party with only niche support doesn't make that kind of splash in 12 months. Bernier appeals to conservatives who see that the CPC no longer operates on conservative principles. Bernier also appeals to Liberal and even NDP voters who are fed up with the unprincipled pandering of Canada's mainstream parties. I myself voted NDP in the last federal election, and even voluinteered with my local NDP EDA. This year, I'm doing the same with the PPC, and I'm not the only one. Canadian politics is changing, just as it's changing throughout Europe and the United States. Fewer and fewer voters are accepting that a bunch of focus-group-empty-promise politicians as leaders is just the way things are supposed to be. New parties and new personalities are exploding onto the scene throughout the west. Bernier's not likely to enjoy their same success due to Canada's notorious political apathy, but it's a mistake to underestimate the PPC nevertheless.

The Canadian Greens don't represent other greens. In my home country, the Green Party of England and Wales is the furthest left political party in the House of Commons, and quite libertarian. Alex Wales I’ve just checked, and you’re right. They have only ever won 1 seat. I remember them winning something like 2-3 seats once. He might actually make Quebecer's see how smaller federal government could help them. Smaller Federal Gov = More provincial power. It's exciting to me that this party exists. For question 2, he most likely would support Trump since far-left Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are starting to get more popular than Joe Biden. But, it’s strange how the policies of the Conservative Party of Canada would be closer to the moderate American Democrats (like Biden or Obama) rather than the Republicans.

I wish the NDP can go back to its roots... Tommy Douglas, one of Canada's renowned politicians, made a speech called mouseland (which I love) ;the mice voted for black cats, which represented the Conservative party , and then they found out how hard life was. Then they voted in the white cats, which symbolized the Liberal party and things were different, but still not good for mice, because the government was still run by cats. A mouse gets an idea that mice should run their government, not the cats. This mouse was accused of being a Bolshevik , and imprisoned. The speech ends by saying you can lock up a mouse or a person, but you cannot lock up an idea. Trudeau, Scheer, Singh, Bernier, and May all have one thing in common.... They are all cats.

I hope you see the irony in critiquing a party for name calling when you're literally doing the same. Not to mention EVERYONE has said the blackface incident was racist, including Trudeau himself. Whether he is just paying lip service or not is another issue but you're willfully distorting the narrative to support your preconceived notions.

Hard to gain votes when everyone only votes Liberal or Conservative on the basis of strategic voting and not voting on values or beliefs. Canada has a system that forces people to vote against who they DONT want to win instead of voting for who they do. If Canada had a proportional representation voting system, the Greens would see an incredible increase in votes. Same with other smaller parties, but the Greens the most.
@ReasonableRadio
@ReasonableRadio 4 жыл бұрын
@@CANADAWOOOOOOOOO This is such a myth. Strategic voting is absolutely NOT the reason for the 2 party lock, it's the opposite. Strategic voting is a reaction to the 2 party lock caused by a huge number of lifelong voters for both the Cons and Libs. The NDP and Greens both have lifelong voters, but they're a tiny minority of urban aging hippies and woke yuppies. The only number of votes that can swing between parties leading to win or loss are besides those millions of fixed votes. There are too many to make an NDP government feasible during this decade. Don't even talk about a Green party government lmao

@@ReasonableRadio It's not a myth. There is only one party for conservative people, the conservative party. There are 3 parties for left wing people. Depending on the riding, people will vote for a party they dont support to prevent another from winning, usually the conservatives. Some ridings it's a close race between NDP and Conservative, so people support the Greens vote NDP to keep the conservatives out. It's not a myth, it's a proven fact about our broken electoral system. Why do you think over 70% of Canadians support getting rid of it? Why do you think Trudeau backed out on his promise for it? cuz he got into power and knows people strategically vote liberal. Is it really surprising to you that Trudeau doesn't keep any of his promises? He knows people will vote for him anyway cuz he knows that everyone knows the conservatives are worse. Saying Canadians are "fixed voters" is a myth. Well, maybe true for the cons because they have no other option. But left wing Canadians frequently flip between Liberals, NDP, and Green. I live on Vancouver Island where Greens have the most support. We are not hippies or "woke yuppies" whatever that means. We are people sick of the same two corrupt parties always being in power. We want real change and the Greens are the best to do that. Watch out this election, BC and the maritime provinces have a #GreenWave coming

@@ReasonableRadio Ha, Trudeau backed out on electoral reform the second he got into power. He was never going to do. He benefits too much from strategic voting in fear of vote splitting.
