@Jamilkucing Jamil, please, could I advise you to prepare everything before !! The pills out of their packaging, the syringe filled and ready to use and maybe a slightly sweet drink like syrup with water or a diluted fruit juice because it prevents tops of hearts and the risk of spitting out the medication !! Thanks..

Thank you @shellyscott187 for sharing from your experience. I am not a vet or medical person, but I feel like I’ve seen enough channels to know Jamil is very knowledgeable and he also does what he thinks is best (which is based on his own substantial experience). It is nice to get affirmation from a professional like you… that holds a lot of weight, especially for those like myself who lack that particular expertise.

@Review-time1 this is not necessarily true. Although it is okay to bring up a scored, immediate release medication, some you must give whole. Especially extended release medication. Be very careful with how you give the medication. Follow the directions you vet gives you. Crushing up the wrong medication could have bad results.

I love Macaques so very much,,, wish we could have them here in USA,,, my state doesn't allow exotic animals
@leonavu5 күн бұрын
Good, because people who get them thinning they are pets always end up getting rid of them because they are too much work. Jamil did not treat them as pets, and hehas admitted himself that he can't recommend macaques as pets, because he is aware that there are very, very few people in the world like him. Jamil sacrifices EVERYTHING for JK and family. He said he had to give up the idea of meeting someone and marriage because of what the effect would have on the family, and macaques are very, very aggressive fo anyone who isn't a caretaker. Even with Syafi able to feed the kids, he avoids Shaki whenever possible because she will.still attack him, even after all of these years. Now what American do you know who is willing to give up their lives, their families, and the tens of thousands of dollars it would cost in the first five years alone. And I don't blame anyone for that. The problem is, people just think they can get a macaque and it will be a walk in the park. Play with if for a bit, then put it in a cage. Because you do not want them around your house without supervision, they will destroy EVERYTHING. These animals are a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week commitment. And when Americans who thought they were "so cute in their clothes" (cringe) do little to no research on how much money it will cost, if there's a vet who can treat a primate in the area, how much are licenses, the diapers the first year alone, and an infant is stolen from its mother so some lazy people can play dress up and brag over Facebook about their new monkeys - one day, these people get a rude awakening. The aggressiveness starts, the ripping off of the diapers and throwing their feces everywhere (among other bodily acts), the biting becomes a problem so they find out quickly that they can never have people around them, which means more hours that an animal that should be free with their mom and troop is shoved into a cage and left there for hours at a time. This is an incredibly selfish thing to do. There is no macaque rescuing going on. Very few people actually do find these animals just around. Jamil just happened to find JK at an abandoned pet store, and Shakina's mother was killed by a car. But he admits that he had to get Shaki through other means, meaning she was not acquired in those ways but he had to buy her (I believe that's how it went, I know she wasn't found like JK) because he knew how social these animals are and how important it was for JK to have a mate. So when an American says "I need to get me one them there monkeys!" it isn't like going to the SPCA and finding a monkey that has been abandoned. Mother macaques defend their babies to the death. Don't believe any of those other monkey channels, they did not find their macaques, they poached them or bought them in some way after being poached. So owning a macaque is the OPPOSITE of rescuing them - they 0:22 are getting their mother killed for their own selfish wants, not in any way to help an animal. It's utterly absurd. There are many, many videos of people doing this and then not long after, they are crying and taking the macaque to a sanctuary because they had no clue what they were getting into. And those are the good owners. The majority of these ignorant humans just dump the animal somewhere, leaving it alone and terrified with no clue how to survive. I know this is long, but haven't experienced this very thing, I'm very passionate about it, and every single person should be aware of the realities of the situation as Jamil has said many times. So if anyone you know talks about it, please urge them to actually do their research, because it won't take long for them to see what a mistake it would be. Owning them should be outlawed in all 50 states.

Was Adik put in any amount of quarantine time before being introduced to the other monkeys? Could Adik have passed something on to JK? Honest question. ❤
@leonavu5 күн бұрын
That's an interesting question. Having spent time with these animals, i can tell you that it's usually the macaques spreading diseases to humans that is the problem. However, if one has the Herpes B virus (very common in macaques) and another macaque does not, they actually can spread it to other macaques, even if they are different breeds, as JK was a pigtail and Adik is a longtail. Though it's moot, because JK had his cough long before Adik came, maybe a month before, at least, but at that point it wasn't as bad as it later became. So JK was sick before Adik arrived, but if Adik had something, could it have made JK's condition worse? There's no way to know, really, but Shaki and Shakina didn't get sick, and they had much more contact with Adik than JK ever did. I don't think JK caught anything initially. The notion of kidney failure was brought up by one of the vets, and if that was the case, then there is always the chance that, if JK was going into renal failure, he could absolutely start to have fluids collecting in or around his lungs. And eventually, that could have gone into full-blown pneumonia, which, sadly, could be one of the causes of JK's death, with how he was not able to get any air into his lungs. But it's all speculation. At this point, the important thing is that we fans support Jamil however we can, and step back from the "how did he die" question, as I'm sure it is a stab to the heart for Jamil every time he reads it. That is a really good question, though.

Back with Jamil was still in Kuala Lumpur and rescuing cats, he saw a baby macaque being kept in a florist shop. He tried to get them to give it up, but to no avail. Some time later, he discovered that the florist had gone out of business and closed. Shortly thereafter, Jamil was driving down a busy highway in Kuala Lumpur and saw that monkey from the florist shop sitting on the highway median. So he stopped and took it in. That was JK, and Jamil decided that if he was going to keep this monkey, it would be for life. When Jamil learned that macaques needed the company of their own kind, he got Shaki. Shakina was found with her deceased mother, who had been hit by a car. Someone (either a vet or someone at Malaysian Wildlife or at a University) recommended that Jamil adopt a baby to help Shaki. (Longer story behind that, but I'm skipping it to keep this short.) BTW: Malaysian law states that you can only keep pigtail macaques (not any other kind), and even then only with the proper permits and regular inspections of their living conditions. Plus, the law requires that male macaques be kept on a leash attached to a neck collar 24/7, while females must be on a leash attached to the waist, though I think they can be let off of the leash when in an enclosure.

At 27, JK is a little old now !! The average age of a Macaque in Nature when conditions are good is 30 years but in captivity 35 or even 38 years is possible !! Shakina keep him active by soliciting him, Shaki grooms him and Jamil takes good care of him so even if he has small drops in strength, he still has good years ahead of him !!

The make up of macaques differ from country to country. Macaques loving in Canbodia, for example, had different environmental conditions that influenced their evolution, as do all macaques in all countries regardless if they are the same breed. Sometimes the differences are subtle, other times very obvious.

Highly unlikely. JK's issues were internal, and started before Adik even arrived. And even if Adik was carrying something that JK didn't have - say, the Herpes B virus, which macaques can spread to other macaques - JK displayed no symptoms of anything other than whatever it was that was defeating him slowly from the inside, certainly something that affected his lungs, maybe a build up of fluid from renal failure, as one of JK'a vets mentioned kidney failure as a possibility.
