Well, at least I know my throwout bearing is the issue, mine is making the exact same sound. Thanks for the video!

The idle sound with no clutch engagement is the exact sound my 1997 tj is making at the moment. Looks like this weekends project!!

Can you give details how you pushed back the transmission? did you remove driveshafts?
@dirttales2 жыл бұрын
Disconnect/support drive shafts, support trans/transfer case with a trans jack, remove bolts from trans bell housing, wiggle it back until it disconnects and you can see the clutch assembly. You may need to removed the shift from up top as well..

I'm about to dive into this myself, but I'm installing the new Centerforce Hydraulic throwout bearing assembly.

I’ve got 85K on my 2012 JK Ruby and my throw out bearing is starting to go. Same noise. I’m looking at the Centerforce Hyd Throwout as well, but with as many miles as I have on mine I’m not going to do just the bearing, I’m going to change the whole clutch as well. Don’t want to do this work twice. I’m looking at the Centerforce dual friction clutch and flywheel kit as well.

@@hwobstjmy 2012 JKUR has 90k mi and just made that awful noise. What r the benefits of the part your talking about compared to the oem?
@hwobstj9 ай бұрын
@@Ang.0910 for me it incorporates the slave cylinder with the throw out. The old fork and throw out bearing get removed and this piece has the bearing incorporated into a hydraulic piece that fully wrapped around the transmission input shaft. I can’t attest to the longevity of the part vs one throw out bearing, but it seems robust. I did have some issues installing it as there is some forward pressure making it hard to push the bell housing up against the back of the engine to bolt it back in. I fed a ratchet strap through the hole where the own slave cylinder mounted and carefully ratcheted the new Centerforce hydraulic to a slightly compressed position. Then I was able to mount the transmission bell housing nicely. Once mounted I released the ratchet and just pulled out the loose end of the strap, torqued all bolts and completed assembly. It’s worked very smoothly for me since. I do like the heavier fly wheel. So far the Centerforce hydraulic slave has worked flawlessly, but I only have 4,000 miles on it.

Did you have to pull the transmission all the way off to get to the TOB?

Is it possible to drive still? My jeep just started making that awful noise and I’m 2hrs away from home 😢 😳

Did you put your tranny jack under the transfer case? Without taking off the exhaust, I'm trying to figure out where to support the tranny so that it will stay balanced.
@streamlinebuilds1490 Жыл бұрын
Yes I used a jack to support the trans and transfer case, I did need help to get the trans back into position when I was finished that thing is awkward and heavy

I have a 1995 Mustang GT. My sound is reversed. When my clutch is pressed, it goes away. Is this still the throwout bearing?
@streamlinebuilds14908 ай бұрын
Definitely yes that's your issue

@@streamlinebuilds1490 I was thinking so too. Guess I've gotta drop the transmission and fix that throw out. Appreciate it thanks.
@MikeLaHaie-r9m Жыл бұрын
did you have to mess with the catalytic converters at all? Or, was there enough room to slide the trans/t-case back to get to the TO bearing?
@streamlinebuilds1490 Жыл бұрын
I didn't remove any of the exhaust I believe I just pulled the shifter, driveshafts and crossmember.

Did you replace the clutch or just the bearing?
@streamlinebuilds14902 жыл бұрын
My clutch didn't have many miles on it, so I only replaced the bearing.
