I don't know what year your JK is, but if it's newer than 2012 you need to keep all 4 wheel speed sensors. I ran into a clearance issue with the rear sway bar endlinks and the rear wheel speed sensors (mounted with the Artec brackets.) Just something to look out for. Also had the same clearance problems that you ran into with the caliper brackets and the upper control arm bolts. I just ground the caliper brackets similar to what you did.

I appreciate everyone's build and I would love to wheel with you one day (I own Rams never had a Jeep). But I think you should have went with a RAM Dana 80 in the rear, sure you will lose some ground clearance but it is the second strongest axle you can get (other then Rockwells). We actually did a RAM 3500 Dana 60/80 swap on a buddies Cherokee (I don't know the two letters you Jeep guys use 😂). So I guess my question would be why didn't you? (Again not downing the build as I like to see what everybody does and I do like your Jeep and am jealous on how much more aftermarket support you guys get compared to us RAM guys )
@JKGearandGadgets
@JKGearandGadgets 5 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question!!! And surprised it hasn’t been asked yet. The Dana 80 is a great axle, but for me it is overkill. The extra weight is a downside, now if I was running a powerful V8 with 42s then it might be a good choice, but it’s a little too bulky for what I need. Plus aftermarket support for the 14 bolt is much more vast than the 80
@TheKillerMarine
@TheKillerMarine 5 жыл бұрын
@@JKGearandGadgets I agree with everything except aftermarket support. They make them but there isn't a lot of companies, so I guess you are right. My truck is factory with a 60/80 and I abuse the piss out of them in also running 40s with plans on 45s

Does the 14 bolt have the same pinion position as the original JK 44 or is it offset like the Sterling? Thanks for everything!
@JKGearandGadgets
@JKGearandGadgets 4 жыл бұрын
It is not as offset as the sterling. It will require a lift of 3" minimum though, just because the center section is alot larger than the 44. My yoke had slight rubbing on the gas tank, but one good flex and it self clearanced the tank skid, no more issues at all
@brianfedie8046
@brianfedie8046 4 жыл бұрын
@@JKGearandGadgets Thanks! I'm going to do this! Cheaper to do this than buy one 44 axle. Think I'll use the Serling and may retube it. Will a 4.5 inch lift be enough to run 40's?
@JKGearandGadgets
@JKGearandGadgets 4 жыл бұрын
Brian Fedie remeber that if you retube and move the axle over you will need to have custom axle shafts made. Plus your driveshaft will be offset if you move the pumpkin to clear the tank. That option will be less than ideal and pretty expensive. The 14 bolt is a better option.

I dont know if you mentioned this in any of your videos but you should mention that if your welding anything Please pratice some safety and keep a fire extinguisher close by and Please dont wear anything with polyester because if it catches fire it will melt and fuse to your skin instead of burning. Great video man!

not to mention he is welding next to a wooden bench, that is not smart either.

Wooden bench is doing just fine lol. I’m probably the worst person to talk about safety. I weld in shorts and crocs, but I do have a fire extinguisher at least

@@Everybodypoops2 i know I'm sorry I'm being that person. I just seen people catch fire and I have caught fire myself many time too. I hate for someone who doesnt know much about welding to just do it and get hurt.

Anthony Adams I get that. It’s jus that I don’t see it being his responsibility to do a PSA every time he touches something that could hurt you. It’s not like he’s doing needle point, every video would be 10 minutes longer.

You could just weld the nuts onto the brackets. No wrench needed on one side.
@JKGearandGadgets
@JKGearandGadgets 5 жыл бұрын
Very true. Part of me hates doing that in case for some crazy reason I cross thread the nut. But yeah, a welded nut would fit great and make it easier when removing that control arm

With all this work why not just go to coilovers?
@JKGearandGadgets
@JKGearandGadgets 5 жыл бұрын
I may eventually. However the type of wheeling I do doesn’t justify them. I would love the extra travel but I could do the same with longer shocks. Plus I can’t afford to do axles and coil overs at the same time 😂
