What you say really makes a lot of sense as I have very much difficulty to keep my left arm straight. I will definitely give it a try and I am confident that it ‘might’ help. Thanks.

As a senior with a lower range of chest turn if I keep my left arm straight I can only get to 9 o’clock. Should I only to 9? Or should I allow my left arm to break down to go farther back? Love your videos
@marklepollo85469 күн бұрын
Keep it straight over all else. 9 o’clock is plenty if you sequence the downswing correctly. You need good tempo to initiate the downswing though. Most people with a short backswing tend to swing down with their arms 1st thinking they need to generate power with the short arm swing, leading to an over the top move. It’s very difficult to do especially if you’ve always bent your arm in the backswing. But the results are worth it!

Wrong dogma, lower radius lower inertia. Before teach people learn the basics of physics. Straight arm is the effect when a player use the SSC in movement. Otherwise not needed.

Curtis Strange and Calvin Peete were some of the best ball strikers on Tour and had they had bent elbows. Calvin’s was really bent quite a bit, due to an injury.

If you watched my entire video I mentioned that you don’t NEED to have a straight arm but as long as the length is maintained

@@JKMGolfI did watch your video… You provide some good info. I just wanted people to know some of the elite players who didn’t have a straight elbow. Thanks for your reply.

@@DriveForShowthen bend it if you will if your back muscles are tight
@ronowens5046 күн бұрын
You DON'T have to keep your left arm STRAIGHT. If it's bent a little and you TURN to begin your forward swing, your left arm will straighten by centrifugal force. Turn back, turn through! Jordan Spieth? Oh yes, left heel on the ground and left arm straight. Great for increased tension and stress on your back, legs, hips and shoulders.
@JKMGolf5 күн бұрын
I wish centrifugal force could do that for everyone but that is not the case. I try and talk about the most common reasons for the majority of people.

In the video I explained that the lead arm needs to maintain its length whether it is straight or slightly bent. Some players cannot physically straighten their lead arm in which case it is best to maintain it as best as you can. You dont want the length to be changing a lot throughout the swing

@@JKMGolf This is just onother dogma in golf industry. From prospective of biomehanics using the lead arm triceps force and lovering the start radius of rotation increase the force and speed of the movenent.

Nah! Not worth the effort and doesn't increase distance. Probably causes more injuries. Want proof? Just look at Jake Knapp. Best swing ever. Very bent left arm at top.

@JKMGolf there may be. But that's not the point. It takes too much time and effort, otherwise there's no point to your video. I could learn to hit it long standing on my head spinning, and make more watched videos than any golf instructor ever, but for an extra yard or two? There's too much risk of loss of control and accuracy anytime you force a maneuver that's too unnatural. Then take a couple weeks off and it's quickly unlearned.

@@dimtgco1428 To get good at anything it takes time and effort. I am giving information that is relevant to what people are curious about. I am not suggesting that every player has to fit this mold. I agree with you about how you dont need to force everyone to swing a certain way but at the same time, any adjustment you make in a golf swing is going to feel unnatural to some degree unless you practice it correctly and with enough time. I am hoping that my information clears up some confusion or points them in a better direction.
