Thank you for great reaction. This is one of my favorite songs of Dimash. Last year I was listening this song every evening before I went to sleep. It is something in his voice and interpretation of song that make some of us to become so emotional that we can not restrain from crying. I even saw some male reactors on youtube crying on this song. It is a Chines song and Dimash had to learn it in only one week because every contestant had to sing one song in Chines language. Before this he never sing in Chines. Thank you very much to be on a Singer journey and I am glad that I can go with you again thru all his songs from last year. I never become tired of listening to all his songs, kind of addicted to what he do to me when I am listening him. I heard him singing live two times, in Cannes in May and in London in November. This is not a Chinese song, it was written and sang by Japanese singer tamaki koji the original title is Ikenaide which means "please don't leave". Then someone made a cover of this in Chinese....

Love your reaction - it's such a delicate, moving song, isn't it? To think that Dimash was worried that the audience might not understand his accent, as he only had a week to learn the lyrics in Mandarin (and it was the first time he ever sang in that language!) I also don't think this song requires either background story or lyrics, though they don't hurt to know them. I think this is the case for every Dimash song save one, Episode 8: "Daybreak" where I found it hard to connect until I understood the inspiration for the song, after which it became one of my favorites. If the song resonates with Dimash, it will always come across in his performance.

I really enjoyed your reaction. Episode 5 is "Uptown Funk" and Dimash was pretty much forced by the producers of the show to sing it. He gave it a go but I don't think he was feeling it. For what it's worth, you have my vote to skip it.

It is truly emotional and powerful. I am in tears again, even after watched and heard this a great number of times. I assume you don't know the sad story behind this song. (BTW, the very beautiful section without words, towards the end of the song, was composed by Dimash himself.) His London performance of this song began with an even longer and extremely beautiful section of his own composing. -- Dimash did not speak any Chinese at the time of his singing this song. He had a week's time to learn the lyrics from a phonetic transcription. And he did it in the Dimashian way -- exquisitely well.

The original song is the Japanese version by the title 行かないで released by Koji Tamaki in 1989. In 1990, a Cantonese Chinese cover by the title 李香蘭 was released by Jackie Cheung in Hong Kong, and shortly after was translated to Mandarin Chinese for the Mandarin-speaking markets, like Taiwan. The lyrics are actually slightly different from the Japanese version, as the Chinese version was more about a broken heart/love lost, while the Japanese version is about the sorrow of what happened to a Chinese born Japanese singer. Dimash sang this in Mandarin, obviously since the show was in China. I have trouble making out what he's singing because he learned the lyrics phonetically, notice the reaction of one of the contestants at 5:21. Regardless, Dimash still sang the song beautifully, since his voice is so powerful, not to mention his amazing vocal range. He managed to bring emotions to a contestant 6:15

It takes a good man to show the emotion you share with us. I could see it come over you. This is the sad story of aJapanese woman who fled to China during WWII, and became a beloved actress. Her identity was revealed after the war and she was taken back to Japan, never to be heard from again. This is very emotional to the Chinese. Di has a video out telling the story and the words (which will make you cry). 💙
