DITTO BELOW! It is why I clicked on. Mauser K98k? WT? No way, Jose! Clearly, the rifle is a Lee Enfield No. 1 MKIII*. My informed guess would be that it is an India Pattern (Ishapore Arsenal) made late during WWII. The giveaways are the reinforcing screw through the stock forearm, and the trigger guard not having a machined fitting for a sling swivel, but having the wire loop for the canvas action cover like No. 4's have. Postwar Ishapore's are mostly found without the offset to the right of the rear sight protector ears. OMG, if using a steel wire brush isn't bad enough, JK needs to learn not to clean rifle bores from the muzzle, especially not with a steel rod! Too bad that the rifle's markings are not clearly shown. It is a far sight better now than it was.
