If you like these amplifier repairs, maybe I can do more. I would prefer to do multiple-part videos to explain the repair in a little deeper detail.

Sent one of these out a long time ago, and the guy basically told me it couldn’t be repaired that the “mosfets” were shorted. That was ten years ago and I realize now I got ripped off. I’ve become better at circuit repair and could have done it myself at this point. Live and learn I guess but cool to see something I owned and had issues with in a repair video

Thanks for sharing that. Yeah I can empathize with that experience. I am glad you found some entertainment in seeing it fixed. These amplifiers were so popular. We all probably had one or knew someone with one. I remember my roommate having one of them when I was 18. He gave me my first amplifier for installing the JL in his blazer. It was a Kenwood, maybe a KAC line, that he gave me. I can't remember if I fixed it, but this isn't the first slash amplifier I worked on.

I had 2 of those amps and both have failed. Both were installed by pros, still have 1 of the broken ones collecting dust. Nice job on the fixing it and giving it another life.

I have 2 also they work it's just my slope button is loose and it's not pushing like it should

Sounds like you’re doing something wrong bud. These amps are nuke proof

@@jester4886 Maybe because they were mounted to the sub box? That's the only thing I can think of. Wiring was good and paired with good JL subs. It had good ventilation, so heat wasn't the issue. Never had them go into protect mode. Just failed and stopped working.

"Slasher" not Slash. I still have 500/1 from like High School. They were wildly underrated compared to other amps (output wise - not fanbase wise. Everybody knows JL is creme dela creme). They were probably the only "500" Amps that put out 500RMS. I had 1000 watt amps that barely did 550 lol

Never heard JL refer to them as "slasher," it was always the Slash series amps. Even in the new JD Series training, they referred to them as slash.

It's definitely Slash, not "Slasher"

I have a pioneer single din radio. Is that something you are willing to fix? Turns on, but no sound.

Sweet. Mine just quit tonight on the way home after nearly 20 years. Need to pull it out and open it up. Not sure if I want to take the time to fix it or if I should just grab a new JL amp. Appreciate the video and getting to see whats in there before I jump in..... if I end up doing it.
