Anytime I install any bling inside, doors come off and hood flips over onto the windshield which makes installation so much easier. A comparison of the before and after sound with the same song at the same volume would really show how much the JL improves the sound. The install looked beautiful, very clean looking. Another wonderful video.

That comparison wouldn't really show you anything. the audio wouldn't be accurately portrayed by the 30 cent microphone used to record the audio. In fact, often times the upgraded audio system sounds worse, because the bass alone overpowers the microphone and distorts or muffles the other sounds. Not to mention, that *even* if they could accurately record the audio (they can't) they also can't control what you're listening to it on. your laptop speakers or phone speakers wouldn't do it any justice, etc etc. The *only* way to accurately compare, is to listen live.. honestly.

I’m sure there was some sort a kickback but nothing was stated in the video. Plus most companies do not allow cameras in their facilities. Kudos to JL Audio for allowing them free access.

I have this full kit plus JLs in the roof and they are indeed very loud lol I turned my amp down for that channel and it evened out pretty good. They are great for the beach or stops, when you open the gate those speakers make a world of difference from behind the jeep

That's a cool set up. I have two JL Audio 10W1v3-4's and an 800w amp. But I don't have that amp mounting bracket. That is sweet because it holds your amp so it can get proper air flow for cooling. Way too many people will mount their amp on the floor or box with carpet under it which causes the amp to run hot because of lack of air flow. Sweet set up, I hope you two are enjoying that sweet sound with that bass! lol.

Perfect! We scooped up a 2018 JLU this past Saturday 312 miles on it. It had almost all the features I wanted, minus 3 things. One of them is the premium sound. And it's driving me nuts. But at least I paid 12k less than the first owner. Great follow up video guys! This is super helpful!

It's absolutely amazing how much a rear subwoofer will improve audio in a Jeep. I have a small 10" subwoofer under the drivers seat and aftermarket speakers up front and in the roll bar of my 2015 JK. It's nowhere near as professional as what you guys have but it certainly sounds better than a no-subwoofer factory speaker setup!

Saw Stepchild's twin last night on my way home from work. Michigan repping the Nation, Lite Brite windshield banner, big Lite Brite decals on the rear windows on the fastback softtop, even the name started with ST (didn't catch the rest) Beautiful red Jeep! Great explanation of the audio portion Brittany!! Love my JL Audio equipment!! In my 2015 JKU, I have 2-12" JL-12TW3-D4's (in 2 ohm) subwoofers mounted in my own custom made fibreglass wheel well enclosures, each 12" is powered by a JL XD600/1v2 amplifiers . JL Audio has the best technology for making subwoofers that fit tight spaces and use small boxes. This allows me to have a full slide out shelf system and the subs/boxes take up very little no cargo space. Please be careful on your water crossings with that amplifier under the seat, your JL will eventually take on water (like all Jeeps do) and you'll fry that amp!!

The 1 ? Concern I have is the floor vent under the seat. Seems to me when the heater on it would be blowing hot air on the amp and possibly over heating it.

We don't use the feet vent all that often, but we also have dual-climate control for when we do! So I can make sure that the passenger side isn't lava hot if need be. :)

Nothing they have is going to be putting a serious load on that amp so it shouldn't get hot. Even though it would be blowing hot air on the amp, the air movement will still pull away heat from the amp. I would bet good money they will have next to zero problems ever with it.

I went with the JL Audio C-7 3 way series in my Wrangler and tuned the system with Audioson Bit One HD processor. I added a JL Audio 900-5HD amp as well as a JL Audio 600HD amp to power the system. If you're going to drive a jeep, you're going to wind up way out of bounds at times. Might as well have studio-quality sound while you're finding your way back home.

Nice setup. I have all JL in my Ford Raptor. Stealthbox, C3 components, and amps. Ton of work but what a difference! I'm sure you will enjoy it. One thing - your list of parts shows the VX800/8i but you show the VX700/5i in the video.

I have been looking into upgrading my 2 door JK Rubicon's audio to add an amp and a better woofer. This may be the way to go. I am sure they have something for a 2 door JK as well. So,, how much $$ was that setup ? The overhead speakers in my 2015 sound like cereal boxes with leftover crumbs ! I would have chucked those or unplugged them? Good learning video ! Thanks! 👍👍

I have a 2015 too, and you can get them to sound good, it just takes some work. First, you have just need to accept that the only input that isn't trash in the stock head units are the aux inputs (3.5 mm jack), and you need a decent audio source to plug into the aux. Something with a good audio processor like an LG Quad DAC phone or a good music player. In recent Jeeps you also need a good ground loop isolator if you charge your phone or audio player while playing music, or the static will eat your ears alive. The one on Amazon made by Aukey does way better than it should for the price. I would highly recommend it. After that and a little bit of tuning in the EQ, it can sound a lot above average. I went from never using my audio system due to how depressingly worse it was compared to my 2002 Jeep Liberty to thinking that it's pretty good for what it is, which for me is a big improvement.

There's so much RD involved into this build for the JL's. The fit and finish is Bar none. I remember in the mid 80's installing cassettes decks. I laugh after I watch the video. Back then I thought I was jamming. Of course the systems have changed. The battery connecting is just one example. Great video.

I’m a big fan of jl audio equipment, I’ve installed they’re stereo equipment in my last two truck( with help from my buddy who’s a mechanic to do the wiring) don’t wanna do it again myself, love to find a good stereo shop to build me a system in my jl. Wondering if they can utilize factor sub enclosure. I love great sounding systems, but also love to turn it up and hear it when doors and top is off. Would think replacing the sound bar speakers and front lower speakers could help with sound quality and being loud.

I see that you guys have [what appear to be] stock fenders less the plastic trim and the addition of a modified fender LED. How do you guys do this? So you can split the stock Rubicon fenders in half! Thats what we did, and then added American Adventure Labs fender lights and inner fenders up front! We just cut our factory fender liners in the back!

I thought I was being clever once and tried to make the loudspeaker cables longer with a lamp cord. The resistance was off so the speakers sounded like they were filled with cotton. It's about balance. The speaker is stamped with an Impedance value (the coils around the speaker membrane also provides resistance) so impedance is the resistance of the coils and the resistor summarized.

Ok big question time. With your Jeep being a Bestop soft top, will the sound fill the cab like it is suppose to or will the sound seem muted since a lot of sound will spill through the soft top? I was always told that car audio needs the hard surfaces of roof, doors, windows and the rest of it to hold the sound in and fill the room. Yours is missing a large hard surface, the roof, to hold it all together. I hope that the JL audio techs tuned it with a hard top and soft top present. Love the video, your channel and all of the mods you have done. Makes planning for my future so much easier. Take care and JELLY!!!

Wrangler is quite possibly the absolute worst vessel to accommodate a premium sound system. No sound dampening, bare sheet metal, cab acoustics. You can only optimize bass in a softop so much before it starts to flutter. Bass will always sound better in a sealed cabin. Top down, doors off and bass would be reduced to little to none.

This is so totally cool. I have a 2018 Jeep Wangler Unlimited JL Sahara with the exact same sound system and factory head unit / screen you have. I want this setup, but I will need to find a shop in the Seattle area that can do it (unless they give you instructions for putting in the speaker wire resistors and other wiring and doing the computer tuning). I want it! Yes, I added it up and it's a pretty penny, but I like to rock! Great video as alway Britt and Kevin!!! :-)
