Jim: Nice radio! Even thought it was a kit, gave great bang for the buck and out performed a lot of commercially produced radios!

I use deoxit on switches and pots. Deoxit gold on switches and sliders. Seems to work a lot better than wd40 for getting rid of oxidation and keeping it clean.

I wouldn't use WD-40, use Deoxit.

is it true that the COLLINS KWM-380 came out later than the SB-104 ? They look very similar...

Isn't WD-40 conductive??

Does anyone else cringe every time he shoots WD40 on it like I do? WD40 is compressed kerosene, an oil. Great for rusty bolts and drill bits, but I don't think I'd use it on electronic equipment. You talk about it being a cleaner, it is not. Also I noticed the B card you pulled out in the beginning was a 85-1580-2. From what I can tell, I believe that comes from an SB-104, the 85-1580-5 is what should be in a 104A model. Someone did a lil switcheroo on ya there bud.

Jim. Now you see how ends all attempts to fix a device that is not broken. you should have focus on cleaning potentiometers not on wiggleing all components on a working device...

+MaC Gor We'll, I wasn't expecting such a difficult ride with this radio. I am very risk averse and don't like doing things that might make matters worse. But it is what it is and I can't undo what i've done - if I've done something. I'm intent on getting this radio working and putting it into service. Along the way, I'm bound to learn a lot.

I have a heathkit computer of late '70s vintage. I see those white IC sockets and just cringe. They were awful ;) Have ICs te pince just corroded off.
