Had one of those in my 1967 Ford van with a whip antenna...that was awesome man. I remember i had to let the tubes warm up first. Nice to see one again.

what the heck does a crystal do, different crystal, different frequency, but how, different crystalline structure equals frequency of different wave lengths a rectangular shaped crystal might work I would, ::"think" a pyramidal pure crystal or PPC= my theory for a generic crystal- would work in deep space at 540 degrees below zero, Fahrenheit', bet it would.

I had two of those identical matching walkie talkies around 1975. There was a LOT more activity on CB back then but even up to the late 90's there was still a few locals running base stations.

I seem to remember that jumping those 2 power resistors out of the circuit was how the power was increased on those radios.

My Johnson messenger really surprised me with its audio quality. Receiver is not great, but that's 1961 for you. You have a early version pre 1964. From what I can see that radio was produced well into the late 60's. The latter messenger 2, & messenger 223 base are very similar.

I had a Johnson Messenger One on loan for a while. I was shocked at its Audio quality and smooth squelch. I had another 'Final" tube handy that would pop the output up to 40 watts. 6CW5 That was FUN !! "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW ?" WTF !! ?? Doing this quick switch also seemed to make the receive also perk right up !

Hi Jim, I've got a restored, flawless Messenger 2, the Johnson Page-Alert, and their Pager device. The handheld pager needs 3 Eveready "N-32" button batteries, which I was advised by Eveready are long since gone with no replacement. I'm assuming each one of these cells is 3v. Do you have any idea on what can be done to get the pager to work? Thanks a lot!

OH MY! A TRC 25A Handy ! I bought two of those separately (low budget at the time, had to save up). 100mW from a 9V xistor battery (not for very long) Mine came with Ch. 11 crystals channel "A", had to buy crystals for channel "B", I put in Ch. 7 Metal cast chassis, TWO PM speakers (one used only as mic...odd). Heavy. No case nor strap. I loved 'em. Sold the pair at a hamfest. I'll bet they still work. ;-)

I heard vibrators don’t last that long. Is that true? Also I hear they are no longer made at least not the mechanical ones. Some people have replaced them with MOSFET circuits driven by a 555 timer or logic gate oscillator.

I thought it would be a 23 channel set using two banks of crystals to generate the Transmit frequency and the local oscillator for use with a mixer to converter the signal to 10.240mhz filtering and boosting then a second mixer using a 10.695mhz to get 455khz and then final demodulation to AF, would it be 27.125mhz, could those vacuum tubes be Low Voltage Space Charge Vacuum tubes, I think that a Starduster CB antenna should work with that transceiver.
