Sgt Rock…now there’s a character I hope gets covered. Him, Jonah Hex and The Unknown Soldier.

I always wanted the Sgt. Savage characters to make it into the Joe relaunch lines--first JvsC new sculpt era and then the 25th Anni+ era.

Had the Sgt. Savage figure and video and absolutely loved it! Ran that tape into the ground playing it. I hated the Space Force crap so time either says I was in the minority or that they bet on the wrong horse - for me, Savage was the way to go!

GI Joe is generational. The kids of the 80s were in high school or moving on to the real world. I stopped collecting around 88, due to "growing-up!" I don't blame Hasbro with all the goofy stuff. They were hoping to inspire the kids of the day!

If this line had been 3.75", it would've probably sold better

I am sitting here absolutely happy about seeing this video/review of Sgt Savage!!! Absolutely Great Job!!! I'm a old timer who played with 12inch gijoes and saw the 3.75 gijoes take over the planet. I had stopped collecting Joe's in my early teens then went to the service in 84. I got out in 90 and decided I was gonna collect again. Gijoe hof (Gung ho my favorite)figures had came out I think 92 and me and my son were buying them all. I returned to nyc in 94 and was hitting toy spots. Make a long story short I saw a toy or gijoe book that had the 12inch Sgt Savage on it, I was like who is that badass joe!!!? In one of the toy spots ran into a random guy that sold Joe's. Remember no internet yet not ebay yet. So at comic spots and toy spots is where u had to find guys that had these figures. He charged me a good price and went to his apt in midtown Manhattan and picked him up. Sat in my car for a minute staring at the head sculpt on this figure. I was like please tell me they made or are gonna make the rest of these figures. I was highly disappointed wen I found out they never did. Much later wen ebay showed up I bought all the 5inch figures and vehicles. I love the these figures and never understood y they didn't do better. I understand they didn't match up with other gijoe figs, maybe they should've just made these a separate thing with more characters in a permanent ww2 back story. Or was it maybe the time it came out. Only a few ppl have talked about this line so it was nice to see some1 breaking down the complete story of Sgt Savage. I still have them all and bought a few more 12inch Sgt s. Figs and put him in different hof uniforms. Again great job👍👍👍👍

I really liked Sgt Savage and the return to more realistic military designs. I dropped out of G I Joe once it became sci-fi. Shame Sgt Savage didn't last. Had it been to scale with the original figures it would have been better.

Had the video. It was a cross between Captain America, Buck Rogers & DC’s Sgt. Rock; with the Screaming Eagles (an already existing nickname for the real life US Army’s 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division.) a stand in for Marvel’s Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos. Oddly, Lady J is suddenly a blonde in this one.

Great video. For the record 92 was the second highest year of Arah sales. While 93 and 94 did decline in sales, the relaunch had more to do with internal politics, as you mentioned. (Info from Kirk Bozigian former Joe manager / marketing genius )

I was done post Dragon Fire. Really the 1987 Movie was the peak for me, put Dragon Fire was promising. back then i only really followed the cartoon. Reading the Marvel run years later, I enjoyed it to varying degrees to the last issue. So in that sense I agree - 1994!

I'd love to have a P-40 Warhawk that transforms into a shark-headed robot. It also makes more sense for Sgt. Savage to fly an Autobot disguised as a P-40, than a real P-40 in 1994. Seriously, Hasbro missed a HUGE opportunity then.
@CrossOfBayonne
@CrossOfBayonne 3 ай бұрын
The P-40 Warhawk was also used by the Flying Tigers a US volunteer group who did missions over the Burma Road in the early days of WWII, I'm actually of Chinese descent so I know about them quite well as they were lead by LSU professor Claire Lee Chennault who organized the group for the Republic Of China under Chiang Kai Shek who was a anti Communist patriot during the Chinese Civil War

Hasbro killed joe like how the comic industry killed comics in the 90's. They chased after every lame IP from toxic warriors, drugs, space, mechs, fighting games, ripping off any IP they could think of or get away with. They honestly had zero interest, focus and purpose of GI Joe at the time: probably not beyond keeping the rights.

I'll be honest, Sgt.Savage is one of the few elements of G.I.Joe I have litterly no intrest in. Nothing about Sgt.Savage feels like G.I.Joe to me, Sgt.Savage leaves no impact on me and he just feels like the worthless tacked on cousin of the G.I.Joe family to me.

Anything good about GI Joe was murdered in the early 1990s. Once they started doing repaints, repacks, neon everything, "real firing whatever-this-thing-is!"...straight down the toilet. Clean flush.

@@CPTAnonymous The 90's had bad figures no doubt but the 80's a handful of bad figures. Also at least the line was semi recgonizable.
