I had a tough time tracking down the 5 regular numbers from 2022 so I pre ordered the 5 regular numbers for 2024, so I now have 10 of the Paragon 4 Big Boys and I love them. Planning to build Cheyenne yard in 1953 in HO.

Very impressive and handsome model of the UP "big boy" locomotives, I personally love Union Pacific rr steam and I am glad that locomotive 4014 was restored and returned to service again. I need to earn additional income for myself so that I am able to afford one of these models when I finally decide to purchase one of these. I want a UP big boy in my personal steam fleet badly but it's going to take me a while to come up with the $$ 💰💰 needed to make the purchase for one model.

I got the Paragon and replaced it with a Soundtraxx and Scale Sound Systems speakers…. Not hard but awesome improvement

Hey James. I was looking at your 3 Bigboy line up. And I don't know if you know. But the linkage from the throttle to the smoke box end of your 4014 shiny loco is broken... Sorry for the bad news.

A bit out of my comfort zone for price to pay, but I am thinking about their $250 Challenger they'll have through the conductors club. Make me not think about it anymore.

Don't think, just do it! I would love to have the 4014 also, but no way am I paying $600-$700 for an ho locomotive! I joined the club and ordered a 3985 with P4 and the 3977 in stealth. These will be my first BLI engines. I read a lot of complaints about the Paragon decoders, but figured you get an extra year warranty with the club and the P4 comes with smoke and a keep a live capacitor, plus you get the free rolling thunder receiver. For the price, you'd be crazy to pass these up if you were at all interested in UP steam.

@@wiseguysmith6519complaint with decoder is reasonable, I have 5 bli locomotives and all work great! No problems except that for some reason every now and then the horn/whistle will blare itself. No idea. Bli locomotives have to be my favorites, you won’t be disappointed!!! I preordered 3985 as well and I absolutely can’t wait!

What controller should I use? I have the real power 1370 the outputs 18 volts. But my Big boy locomotive says it needs 19 volts to run.

I’ve got the 4014, and the Paragon 4 sounds awful, just like they always do. Still sounds like the horrible QSI stuff from 20 years ago. If I didn’t want to keep the smoke unit, I’d gut the system and throw in a Soundtraxx instead.

@@dsingh412 15 cars per ounce is the general rule so 180? Might be a bit steep but there are videos on Facebook of them pulling 100+ cars

I pulled 98 cars with mine the other day with no effort at all. I DID have to add weight inside the tender as the weight of the train behind it tended to pull that “centipede” wheel assembly off the rails on the curves.
