i would recommend to use harissa to spice it, if u want it to be more red. it fits well to the curry, but if u use it i would reduce the amount of chilli a little bit.

Using eye of round? Boy oh boy. You got some guts. From what I've heard it is possibly the worst cut of meat. The best way of cooking such cuts is slow cooking it for atleast 4 - 7 hours. Edit : was it actually tender?
