There are 3 supers that are technically impossible to parry. Shinryuken, shoryu cannon and magnetic storm. They are all meshable supers, and the meshing will impact the parry pattern depends on meshing speed and if the move is meshed or not.

@@nain_jr +1, that was how i learned it on the SF3:TS OE. I simply got frustrated with the timing stated by the pros, put the CPU in parry mode and saw it was parried.. so i timed it after activation. I think its an urban legend, possibly to make Evo Moment 37 and Daigo more special.

I actually got a full parry on a fully charged Denjin Hadouken in a ranked match back in 2012, it was first try didn't lab it beforehand and on a VERY bad 3rd party controller, the opposing Ryu proceeded to dash and throw me in retaliation haha

Regarding the KKZ, you can actually do a regular parry. However, this can only be done at certain distances. The bolt of energy at the start of the animation can't be parried, but it won't cause damage if you're far enough away. You need to be out of throw range, but close enough to connect a HK. If you input the parry command just as Akuma hits the ground, you should be able to parry the shockwaves that come at the second part of the attack. If done correctly, the game will register that you've parried 4 hits at the same time. This parry can be done while jumping as well. Also, Gill can be made temporarily playable in the arcade version, but it can only be done with a with a lot of setup with a specific glitch.

@@Lenoh Nope, it's not limited to XCOPY. There is another method that lets you play as Gill via a glitch in the arcade version. Crystal_Cube99 did a video on it a while back. The glitch requires two controllers, and uses a similar setup that lets you use Glitched Super Arts. When you start up the game, let the intro play out and enter Demo Mode. The game will go to a computer-controlled character select screen, and will choose a fighter. Look closely when the Super Art selection screen appears. When the CPU selects the Super Art, the silver oval with the name of that Super Art will flash. As soon as it does, press the 2nd player Start Button. If timed correctly, the 2nd player character select screen will appear and the game will reset to a 2nd Player Arcade Mode. Play through as you normally would until you reach Gill. When the VS screen pops up before the match, press the 1st player start button. The game will announce that's time to fight a new rival. However, the 1st player character select will be glitched. It will automatically choose Alex, but display Gill's Super Arts. Regardless of which Super Art you choose, Gill will be playable via the 1st player controller. Aside from lacking a few move cancels he has in the console versions, he is fully functional. If Gill wins, the game will automatically roll over to a new 1st player Arcade Mode with him still as the playable character. You also have to redo this glitch every time you reset and start a new game. Also, do not try to activate this glitch during a bonus round, as it will crash the game.

I accidently air parried a single hit of Akumas explosion and no one ever believed me, I did it by getting angry and just throwing the stick about but when I saw it, I knew it could be parried. I tried on practice mode and never made any progress whatsoever but after seeing your video, amazing !! Well done and great work on this content mate.

Surprised to see Twelve SA1 not make the list, as it is generally regarded as one of the harder supers to parry. I'd also put Hugo's SA3 on the list, as A) you can vary the timing of the first hit by holding the punch button, and B) the timing of the chest bump hit throws most people off. Also Urien SA2 is funkier than it looks as well.

Awesome video J. So yeah for that Chun fireball cancel super you will probably get frame adjacent hit auto parry a lot of the time. Spacing dependent as you said, possibly some luck involved. For those who don't know, if two hitboxes make contact with a successful parry on the same or adjacent frame, the game will automatically parry both hits. I'll have to check these out in the lab, nice parries!

I remember back in the dreamcast days unlocking extra options and turning off block, putting on health recovery, setting it to one round and then just playing the CPU in arcade mode to just teach myself some form of parry reaction. It was good training, even if the CPU reads inputs and dumps raw SAs on frame 1; they also seemed to do random supers like full screen or without hit confirms. But yeah, if you turn on parry everything via the CPU, it shows you how it gets out of dumb situations.

If you use FBA-RR you get frame by frame timing, there's a frame advance button so you can time inputs to the exact frame then play back the recording after. This should let you parry Gill's super if nothing else works

as far as i know gill's wing super in not parry-able, however, the meteor strike is actually one of the most difficult super to parry BTW, the parry mini game Level 5 has the exact same parry pattern as the meteor strike.

The only part of the move that counts as unparryable is the first. Every hit after that can theoretically be parried. No human can perform this perfectly, but it is, in theory, possible. There’s a video from this guy named “John Coury” where he performs an imperfect version of the maneuver. He blocks the first hit then red parries most other hits. He takes a little bit of chip damage from the blocking he needs to perform the red parry, but this only happens because he can’t move his stick fast enough. A computer could technically parry every hit after the first.

Urien can also mixup the first hit to be a low, overhead, or just a delayed hit. And if the opponent does parry, it makes them vulnerable to being thrown as well

i think for the gill parry, you have to use a hitbox control so you can hold block with 1 finger and then only release it when you're about to press the forward. on a joystick the time between holding back and moving the stick to forward might take too long.

Another really hard one is parrying Akuma SA1 in the air, with the Akuma following up with air MK or HK Tatsu. It's extra tricky because the MK and HK Tatsus require different timings.

For those who don't know if two hits come within a certain timeframe and you succeed in parrying the first, the second automatically gets parried. That's why Remy's ex booms are super easy to parry cuz you only have to parry the first one. Same concept with chun li's ex fireball into super. Most of the time that ex fireball will hit at the same time as one of her kicks so it looks harder but there really is no change in the timing

I personally think the hardest is Dudley's uppercut super. I spent hours on it and still cant pull it. 1 out 5 times i get the first wave, 1 out of 20 times i get the second waves as well but i never got all of them. It's timing is soooo wonky.

Idk why this isn't spoken but Third Strike parry system has a little assist when you have to parry hits in quick succession so it's actually easier to parry moves like Ibuki air super after you get the first hit or the fireball in-between Chun-li her kick super.

-Without a doubt chun SA 2 is the most difficult, bc you must parry BEFORE the superflash, unlike all other parries in the game. (technically you can parry after the flash but the timing window is significantly more strict than other parries, so effectively "you cant") -After you learn to parry chun sa 2 then do it with fireball, they can vary the timing further by doing an out of range fireball to trick you into thinking there is another hit in the sequence. -Akuma could be a contender if you consider multi attack parries like red fireball into SA 1; further, doing it at a distance then following up while they parry the sa 1 can also change the timing. -Ryu Denjin can be made to hit more if you hit buttons or move the stick around, so doing it when the opponent is in recovery can help it land meaty, and if you're close enough you can follow up with other attacks, much like Akuma. -Ibuki SA 1 can be difficult if the ibuki varies the timing of the kunai, but once you get the first parry its easy to get the rest; also, ibuki can change the angle and height of the daggers so it hits your face or your feet; further still, ibuki's timing of how rapidly she throws kunai can be changed during the super, such that at the right distance and height, she can go from hitting you with one kunai at a time or two or none then back and forth; further once again the defending player can mess themselves up depending on which character they are! as some characters move forward when they standing vs down parry and others dont OR they move backward! -Akuma KKZ can be raw parried if he does it during your wakeup and the lightning strike portion finishes its active frames before you're back on your feet, its also a very quick timing between each hit; it becomes exponentially more difficult to parry when you're jumping or superjumping and have more horizontal momentum, the timing also changes if you're higher or lower in the air as well as the number of hits. -if you include Gill then maybe meteor shower beats chun sa2 for difficulty as the timing changes entirely randomly and each meteor falls so quickly. -Gill Seraphic Wing (rainbow explosion sa) is 100% entirely unparryable; you either have enough hp to block it or knock gill out of it during startup.

Gills entire angel super is almost certainly unparryable. It’s hard to demonstrate since AI can’t parry the first hit (because the first hit is definitely unparryable), but apparently if you set the AI to block then switch them to parry, it still can’t do a red parry. I believe it can with Akuma’s KKZ. Obviously this video is older, but Big Yellow’s Gill video demonstrates this well. Gill’s meteor super is parryable of course.

Parrying Denjin isn't really that hard if you correctly guess the timing. What is hard is that if it's charged enough, Ryu has enough time to attack you whilst you are still locked into parrying. Akuma can do something similar with his air fireball super on an airborne opponent. He can try and hit you with air tatsu whilst you are locked into parry and almost no one is going to parry that.

Playing Hugo got me really good at some of these, something like denjin I always parry with ease at this point 💪 A good honorable mention has to be Remy's SA1, the timing varies based on distance and can be wonky. Necro's antiair super gets harder when you try to parry it while crossing up, gotta change parry direction mid jump!

The problem with third strike is the difficulty of red parry . IMO it should be a lot easier to do because it would stop ppl from preforming B&B tactics . I don’t think you should have flow state in fighting game there should be chaos and order and repetition because it’s boring to do and watch should be punished . What do you say sir ? The second hit is very low so you can just jump over it and punish at will. I know the whole point here was to try to fully parry the super, but it's still a nice trick to know in a match.
