What pains me is that people see her only as high notes! If they listen to her songs and the voice that comes out of that tiny body, it is insane. Her whisper register is insane and I've never heard that ever again from anyone else, who can whisper and transition into different octaves so effortlessly. THEY NEED TO LOOK PAST HER NODULES AND VOICE DECLINE, COS WHAT SHE GAVE US IS INSANE, AND NO ONE CAN COVER ANY SONG IF HERS PERIOD! SHE HAS PROVED HERSELF OVER AND OVER AGAIN. SHE DOESN'T SOUND LIKE ANY OTHER ARTIST OUT THERE EITHER. LIKE NO ONE CAN COPY A WHITNEY, CELINE OR MARIAH OR ARETHA, PATTI LA BELLE, BARBARA STREISAND ETC. THE GREATS OF THE GREATS. TOO MANY ARTISTS THESE DAYS CAN BE COPIED.

You are absolutely right. I think that mainstream singers post 2000"s or 2010's are just wannabe who want to emulate or imitate those legends. What makes a huge difference between old school singers with current singers is that former singers were both vocalists and had incredible musicianship, which is no longer current nowadays.

Mariah is my absolute fave! And even with nodules, having children and aging, when she rests, she is still able to do AHHHMAZING things with her voice. I do agree that no one can replicate her, but there are a few who have studied her technique and have the utmost respect for her and their crafts that they can do her songs justice. Tamar Braxton being one.

She also gets more vocally comfortable with each modulation. Which is cool that she is at home in higher keys. She flowed more easily in the higher key because she had to use less effort to execute the vocal techniques that are unique to her voice.
